I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

These beds were made for an affluent Connecticut family who had an intimate relationship with Reverend Nutting. The gentleman we acquired these beds from is a well known and respected dealer in his own rights and times. He has turned up some of the finest pieces brought to market in New England over the last 30 years. These beds were not made by Nuttings' usual outsourcers. We make an educated assumption that these were either ... moreprototypes or one of a kind creations. We have NEVER seen a pair of beds like these before. They do not bear their production stamps but do in fact have the evidence of Nuttings paper labels. According to the family they were accidentally destroyed after a Hartford. Ct refinishing shop removed the labels in the 1950's when they had the beds refinished and before the era the Wallace Nutting became an American icon. The family was incensed by this the moment they discovered what had been done but what could they do? The labels had been destroyed by sheer ignorance. The backs of the headboards indeed bare absolute evidence of the presence of the labels which are consistent to the size of Wallace Nutting's paper labels used on his furniture products. The family still maintains a very significant collection of Nutting's furniture and personally autographed collection of all Nutting's publications including photographs with members of the family with Nutting who was a frequent visitor to their Greenwich home. Up for your viewing is this Wonderful pair of Antique Beds Carved of solid walnut it is of french origin. But is from a Monastery somewhere in Europe. We have presented these beds to Christies Auction and to Sothebys only to be told there is no market for these beds. The estimates we have received is between 125,000. to 250,000. We do not know a lot about these except that the Person on the headboard is an Abby of the 12-13 century and that the beds could date back considerably we have listed these at a fraction of there value. We are open to any other info that maybe out there. The carvings are very unique and we feel are very significant as a Christian heirloom. A truly wonderful matched pair of Maple single beds. With National Wire Mattress Company of New Britain, CT box springs. I would guess both beds and box springs were made around the same time- circa 1875. The box springs carry a patent date of 1872. Beds could possibly be a bit earlier. This pair of beds has been in family use for over 30 years. Each bed is about 80" long and 40" wide. Headboard height to top of finial is 44. End of bed height to top of finial is 40. These beds were professionally refinished in the 1970s and have a warm honey patina. Condition is as shown. While we only put one bed together, both are in very good, ready-for-bed condition. Box springs are also in very good condition and quite strong- many a kid has bounced up and down without a problem. We have owned these for a long time and watched our kids sleep ... morein them, eat on them, and play on them as well. While we hate to see them go, the kids have left the nest, leaving the beds empty. We hope they will serve the next family as well as they have served ours. Accented with light mahogany ribbon stripe veneer, appointed with carved ribbon crown(top of headboard) painted in antique gold. T apered legs with carved acanthus leaf on the footboard legs. Pair Antique French Regency Neoclassical Twin Beds w custom mattresses
Vintage 1880s pair French regency neoclassical twin beds with custom mattresses and box-springs ordered to fit antique beds. These beds are ready to be used. MEASUREMENTS: The beds are 80 inches long 42 inches wide at the headboard and 40 inches wide at the footboard. The headboard is 64 inches tall including the crown the footboard is 30 inches tall. The mattresses are 73.5 inches long and 34.5 inches wide. LET’S TALK CONDITION: Excellent condition for the age. Much better than what is typically found beds of this type and era, ready to use very clean and with a wonderful patina to the wood. With the original slats, no replacement wood no discoloration no significant or structural damage. The head side of the rails on each bed have a missing part of the decorative designee and the other rail with one intact and one repaired(see the third ... morephoto) One of the footboards has chips on the base of the columns(see last photo) and this footboard also has some loose joints giving it some slight pay, less than typical for antique bedframes. This is an amazing set of hand painted red to look like wood and gold gilt and brass ornate brass and metal French twin beds and a very nice matching Marble top washstand. I do have the original rails that go with these beds. Lots of photos and the paint and the beds and the washstand are in great shape. There are 4 rails all 77 inches long. There are 2 headboards and 2 footboard Each bed is 37 inches wide and about 57 inches tall and the washstand is 17 inches deep 15 inches wide and about 48 inches tall. This is a wonderful pair of matching federal style pencil poster beds with fluted posts on the footboards ... moreand beautiful tapered posts on the headboards, with solid mahogany Sheraton style shields. This set has bolt-in rails of the dimensional type, so they are stout and sturdy. Someone has made metal brackets so the box spring can sink down and the bed is not as high as older beds usually are. The beds are mahogany, and the only flaw I see is that some of the bolt covers are mismatched. The rails have scrag marks on them, which is unique, and the beds are finished in a brownish red mahogany stain, with fluted Sheraton style posts on the footboard, with urn shaped vase finials. The overall size on the outside is 46 inches wide, 64 inches high on the footboard and headboard, and 39 inches high to the shield. The inside dimensions, for mattress purposes, are 41 inches wide, and 77 inches long. A modern size box spring and mattress will easily fit. SUPERB PAIR Heywood Wakefield Twin Encore Beds- WHEAT Up for auction is a very nice set of vintage Heywood Wakefield furniture. This is item: M1500- Encore Twin Bed- produced between 1956 and 1966. One bid buys BOTH beds. Each measures 39" wide. These beds are part of a larger set recently purchased from an estate in PA. This set is in near MINT condition- the best I’ve had in many years. All pieces retain the original WHEAT finish- the pictures don’t do this set justice!
