Old Antique Beautiful ROOKWOOD Fall Autumn Oak leaves Art Pottery Flower Vase
This piece is another one of my favorites as I Love art and Rookwood pieces. These golden brown Oak leaves are just coming out like you think they are so real you could pick them up off the tree during the Fall months. The bottom leaf has a Brilliant Golden yellow added to it like the sun is on it. How the artist in this company made items look so real amazes me. The piece is about 6 3/4 inches tall and about 5 inches at its widest. I hope my camera took clear enough pictures so it would do this piece justice. Also I hope you can read the Rookwood mark and Number a artist signing initials which look like CS to me and the number is 754. This piece has been on a very old lines dollie for many many years and has no bottom issues. I also would like to mention on the bottom that there are 3 tiny small dots perfectly triangled and a gray look like ... morethe clay color I guess. But I believe it might of been where the artist took the piece off the tray or wheel that it was on once hardened. These were there for a reason not any defect. Thank you If you bid. This report was published 12 days prior to the main battle that occured June 30. 1862. The forces under the command of Gen. Ripley following the orders of Stonewall Jackson who had just arrived on the field of battle that would be known as White Oak Swamp and Malvern Hill, Va. The upcoming action in support of Lee's assault at Glendale would offer Gen. Jackson another opportunity to prove himself. Raised McCoy USA mark on the bottom as shown. Example shown on page 33 of the Sanford book on McCoy. Referenced here as shape number 563. Produced in 1946. Measures 5 3/4" tall. 7 3/4" long. No chips cracks or repairs. In my opinion, it has quite a good crisp mold on it ~ the leaves and acorns are very pronounced.
