It has a bevel edge on the top that is rough and could use a sanding. There is a fancy cut out. It has brass curved gallery with a circular bevel glass mirror on the top. The overall size is 21 inches wide, 15 inches deep, 48 inches high overall and 38 inches high to the top. The pull-down lid is 17.5 inches wide by 13 inches high. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Hand Carved VICTORIAN BED& BED SPRINGS + 2 DRESSERS. The entire bed is solid oak with the original finish. The bed& springs were in continuous use from 1876 thru 2008 in the same family. Outside Bed Measurements are at Headboard Height: 57” Footboard Height: 42” outside Length: 77” outside Width: 53½” The inside bed measurements are: Length: 73” by Width: 51” The head& foot boards are on casters& the entire bed rolls easily for cleaning or, when taken apart, for transportation. The side rails slip easily in& out of slots in the head& foot boards. It comes with the slats, including the small center one which was used to distributed the weight of the mattress& people evenly on the center of the mesh springs. The bed springs, with the original stenciled date of 1876, are made of steel mesh stretched tightly over ... morethe solid oak frame& secured at the ends with thick iron pieces. The springs are still firm& without any sag. There is no indication of a manufacturer’s name on the mesh or iron end pieces and they may have been mail order. The bed needs a little loving care– mostly just a good cleaning(the spot of white on the foot board decoration(see pic) is a small streak of paint) being dusty and covered in old furniture polish. It does have a few scratches& small dings from age, but nothing major. Both dressers were made at the time as the bed, 1876, and by the same craftsman. They are oak& are all original with no replacement pieces& with the original finish. THE LARGE DRESSER with associated mirror measures: Height: 44” Depth: 19” Width: 41” The Ogee mirror is an oval 23 ½” by 15” is probably a later addition. The dresser has 2 trinket drawers made with key holes, but without knobs, a small bow front top drawer& 3 large lower drawers; all of which work properly. This item is in good condition and the unit was partially restored a few years ago. The area below the bed springs was not restored at the same time and is of older and darker stain. The back side of the head board and foot board are non-restored. You can see this in the photos. However. The non-restored area of the front of the headboard will never be seen once the bed springs and a mattress are assembled. The bottom of the springs sit 10" off the ground. The width of the bed is 56 3/4 inches wide; length of bed is 80' long. The headboard is 73" tall and the foot board is 36" tall. The wood is beautiful quarter sawn Oak. The beauty of this bed lies in the detailed design and craftsmanship to the crest of the headboard and all 4 posts. There is beautiful scroll carving on each bedpost and the crest of the headboard. The ... morespring set appears to be original and in good solid condition. The side boards that hold the mattress are not original and appear to be replacements made of pine, but are intact and sturdy with hardware included. Same goes for 4 wood slats that assist in supporting the bed springs. Included are head board, foot board, side boards, box springs and hardware and 4 wood board slats. Mattress is not included. The bed was manufactured in Altamont. IL according to the paper manufacturer label on back of head board. The label is only a partial label and manufacturer name is illegible.You can pick this bed up in Broadlands, Illlinois, or you can arrange to have a freight company of your choice ship the bed to you. And carefully adapted for use as a queen size bed. a 1922 production quartersawn oak barley twist bed headboard and footboard and matching mirrored dresser. The dresser has a lovely beveled mirror, original teardrop hardware and casters, dovetailed drawer construction and the same beautifully turned barley twist columns as the carved headboard and footboard. Both piece are tagged with the brass C.W. S. Pelaw on Tyne tags of the English Co-Operative Wholesale Society and pencil dated within their stamped 4/8/1922. I've included a number of photographs from all sides and tried to highlight the features outlined here including the tags and stamp marks. The beautiful carved barley twist head board and footboard are in lovely condition and have been adapted from their original full size to fittings for rails to make it queen size as is currently generally preferred. There is 54 inches between the original posts(full size width) but the modern adaptation involves attached boards 62 inches in width. With screws set for rails to be set at the queen size 60 inch width. I show a close up of this simple adaptation as well as these pieces from both sides. Bed rails are not included. The beautiful quartersawn oak wood grains, carvings and fabulous turned barley twist columns that really make this incredible early 20th century English bedroom group. Antique Dark Oak Bed and Dresser
I do not buy antiques for their monetary value. I buy pieces because I like them. Therefore. I really do not know details on my items(sorry, I know it makes it more difficult for others to buy them) I believe these are oak and I believe they are from the 1800s. You are buying the bed frame and dresser(not mattress and box springs) The frame for this bed is full size. As pictured, I use a metal converter frame to make it queen size(you can see that my mattress sticks out a bit from the frame) Headboard is 6 feet high. Dresser measures 42" wide. 20" deep and 78" tall. They are in a smoke-free and pet-free home. I think they are in very good condition. Any damage I have found is listed above. Rare L. C & W. L. Cron tiger Quartered Oak & Curly Flame Birch Full Bed
I have found similar bedroom suites in Cron's 1898 catalog but I think this set might be a little older than those. The ones I found are listed as"Quartersawn Oak and(very rare) Curly Birch Bed Room Suites" This set is called the bedstead and is"Mahoganized" according to their catalog which gives it the spectacular reddish brown color. The carving is very deep. High relief motifs of scrolls, feathers and plumes. There are rails as shown in a separate picture(we found them later) The paper tag shown is off of the matching"Mirror Dresser" Which was sold with this bedstead as a set. I am certain they are a match as I also have the mirror with the same motifs, and these ornaments are also carried through on the drawer pulls for this dresser. The sets that are similar to this one are on the first pages of the ... morecatalog, so I am assuming that these were the very best that the Cron Company would have to offer. They are also curly birch and are mahoganized. This is a full sized bed measuring 56.5 inches wide by 53.5 inches tall. The footboard measures 58" wide by 26" tall. The L. C& W. L. Cron Company"Manufacturers of Bed Room Suites" was located in Piqua. Ohio and was one of their largest companies at the time. If you are interested all three items be sure to contact us. Annie's Antique Oak Murphy Bed
Antique. One of a kind, Murphy Bed with the original springs. This is a beautiful piece of furniture in wonderful condition. And comes with a friendly ghost attached! Take it for what you may. We believe her name is Annie. And she apparently is quite proud of the bed because it was where she made her living. We were told by a psychic friend, who had not even realized it was a bed(it gets mistaken for a wardrobe) that he saw a woman whose name he thought was Annie, leaning against the bed and smiling. He told us that when we opened it up we should look for notches carved inside. We didn't think much about it at the time and were preparing to move so had boxes packed such that we couldn't bring it down to check it out. Before we moved it. We brought the bed down and couldn't believe it when we found notches carved all along the ... moreframe holding the springs. They had definitely been carved by someone. And we think that it might just have been Annie. Our proud Madam ghost from at least a hundred years ago, still hanging out with her bed. She is harmless. As we have not actually seen or heard from her ourselves; but the notches convinced us she's for real. Though the notches are noticeable with the bed pulled down. They do not detract from the beauty of the piece. And the story behind them definitely adds a dimension of intrigue. Believed to be of French origin. This period piece bed served our daughter well all the way to high school. Very sturdy and held together with tongue and groove and steel bolts with forged knobbed heads(see picture) Inside measurements are 47.5" x 74" Very good condition. 2 small(2 inch) pieces of decorative trim are missing on the posts. When purchased from the reputable firm of Lyman Drake Antiques in Newport. Calif. in the late 1970's we were informed it was at least 100-125 years old. Item is in Mesquite. One of the nicer, heavily carved oak bedroom sets from the 1920's-1930's ... morethat we have had in our 35 years of the antique business. This is an astounding multi type wood set, with oak being the primary wood. It comes with a wonderful full size, unbelievable carved bed, an extra large carved mirrored dresser, an unusual tall chest, a beautiful carved chair, one of the most unusual, gorgeous vanities with a French shape design that makes it really rare. The set is a mixture of wood: it has burl walnut, straight grain walnut, olive burl ash, straight grain ash, tiger sawn oak, straight grain oak, and unimaginable carved details. The mirrors are original with a deep, beveled acid cut, so it shows an outside edge that really isn't beveled, but is cut to look like it is beveled and they have an age-old haziness to it that has a lot of character. Where a lot of people would replace the mirrors, we would much rather keep the beveled, deep routed cut that is in the glass than replace it with modern day glass. The glass that is in it cannot be duplicated, all that you could do is replace it with modern plate glass. The set has been refinished in our own restoration shop, and has come out beautifully. The nest of tables boast a rich golden oak colour and they are in excellent robust condition. This is an extremely useful piece of furniture and a great asset to have in any office. Living room or hallway and it consumes very little space. It has a beautiful deep rich golden oak patina. Which has been generated by the years of cleaning and care it has received. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition. This item would certainly grace any home. This exceptional antique furniture piece has been handed down through the seller’s family and is not a reproduction. Originally owned by great grandparents who lived in a log cabin. This bed was inherited by the seller’s family who remember its use in a bedroom of the cabin prior to 65 years ago although no one in the family knows the date it was originally acquired. It features the original beveled mirror, elegant heart-shaped overlays, and has not been refinished(a collector's plus! Folding beds were advertised in Montgomery Ward catalogues prior to 1900. The cabinet measures 78” tall. 58” wide and 27” deep when closed, 80” deep when open. It has a removable mesh/spring support for a mattress(mattress not included) mattress opening measures 50” x 74” A sofa mattress 48” x 72” may be a good choice to allow room for linens. This is a ... morewell made and sturdy free-standing piece that moves easily on its metal casters; it does not need attachment to a wall because of its counterweights explained below. Included are 10 removable original cast iron counterweights on the back that allow the bed to raise and lower almost effortlessly with a slide mechanism. As the front of the bed is lowered to the floor. The counterweights allow the bottom portion of the headboard to butt to the upper section resulting in a 72” high headboard. The weights(12 lbs 10.8 oz. each) are easily accessible and lift out to allow less weight and ease of movement to a new location. The metal decorative plates on each sideboard with the name“Victoria Bed” swivel to become the supporting legs of the footboard end of the bed. This is a very sturdy piece of furniture with ease of operation although there are a few things to note. The solid oak cabinet has no cracks and has not been stripped or refinished. It has some water staining from plants placed on top in times past(see photos—this is not visible when the unit is closed) The decorative heart-shaped carved onlays on the front of the cabinet are all secure and beautifully accent the piece.
