The Back drops down as the 2 Round Brass Nuts on the side are pulled ourwards(they are spring loaded and do not unscrew) The Sliding Bed operates well on its Rack and Pinion mechanism. The Bellows are without any splits or holes. There is a patch on the top but I believe this is a"Tab" that many bellows have on the top and not a repair. They Extend to approximately 12" 300mm) long. The very front of the bellows is a bit wrinkled and the corners are unfastened where it would fasten to the shutter mechanism. This should ... morebe easy to rectify. The Mahogany Frame is in Good Condition and some Brass Components remain fitted to the item. One part(the bottom) of the frame has a typical shrikage split. VICTORIAN MAHOGANY 1/2 TESTA DOLLS BED C.1860 with bedlinen
Up for auction is this rare Victorian English Dolls bed. C.1860. It has a carved mahogany foot with a burr walnut panel. It stands on bun feet with a slat base. The half testa bedhead has a mahogany canopy with original brass curtain rings and mahogany finials. The pine backboard(detached) would have had the silk curtain attached. It is a miracle that it has survived with the bed. The detail is original and may have been made as an apprentice piece. The bed linen is wonderful with 13 pieces in all. There are embroidered sheets and tatting decoration to the edges of 2 of the pillow cases and the bolster, 4 linen pillows, a woollen blanket hemmed with blanket stitch, probably done by its' young owner. The mattress is kapok with mattress buttons and a tatting trimmed valance- it is a bit stained after 150 odd years of use, but could be cleaned ... moreby someone with conservation experience. There is a counterpane of floral material and another"duvet" in a cotton cover. The bed measures 47cms length x 34.5cms width x 26cms high(foot) and 50cms(testa height) ISSUES: The testa has been repaired to remove worm damage(long gone) There is evidence of worm damage to the sides of the slat base but nothing that needs replacing. One slat has been replaced. The pine curtain holder from the back of the testa is not attached to the bed and could be re-instated with new silk curtains by the next lucky owner PLEASE NOTE: This is an old antique- do not bid if you want something that is pristine. It has been played with and well loved. Regal Classic American Empire Solid Mahogany Tall Poster Bed~Circa 1830 Being offered for sale is this American Empire Solid Mahogany and Crotch Mahogany Tall Post Bed circa 1830. This early 19th century bed has a commanding presence with is four tall massive octagon shaped bed posts of solid mahogany. The head-board features a shaped carved crest of crotch mahogany with a recess panel of crotch mahogany at the center. This fine bed bolts together very tight and sturdy. The only apology I can find for this nearly 200 year old bed would be a small chip on the inside of one of the posts near the top(see last pic) and the inset panel of the head-board has a slight age shrinkage crack neither of which is very noticeable unless very close inspection and not an issue of the sturdiness of the bed. Truly a very impressive bed that is sure to be a ... moregrand focal point of any bedroom. Measurements: posts measure 90 in. tall(7ft 6 in. Set of 4 Mahogany Wood Bed Risers Furniture Lifters
This set of 4 solid wood risers has a mahogany satin finish. The risers were gently used for one year and show some wear around areas where the base of furniture fit into riser. Wear is evident in photos from small spots without paint. All in all they are in very good shape especially on the sides that would be seen. The risers are 3 and 1/4 inches high at the highest edge. The riser height when furniture sets into the inner circle is just under 3 inches. These have been used and stored in a smoke and pet free home.
