This is an adorable vintage French ciel de lit. Bed canopy, coronet made from brass. Measuring approx 22" wide x 16" deep it dates from early 1900s and has its as found uncleaned time worn patina. This is a heavy quality piece at 1.5kg in total. There are 5 gorgeously detailed roses around the side which can be easily taken off for cleaning and fitting the curtain rings. There are even 2 of the original rings still on it. There is one original fitting bracket left which probably held a chain to fix to the ceiling for added security. This textile was re-worked at some point and there is machine stitching of the panels in places ~ 100% hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting between the layers. But I will tell you that of all of the bed warmers that I have viewed online, this is the only one I have seen that has the French writing at the middle/ center of the lid that reads: Le Cellier Havard Brevete S.G.D.G A Villedieu(Manche) In very good condition considering the age of this item. The item is not perfect as there are a few dings on the item. But agin in very good condition. A brass hinge opens and closes the copper lid. The handle is made of some type of wood. Antique French Black Cast Iron Double Bed 1890s Hand Painted Pinecones Lovely Condition- PICK UP ONLY Description: An antique black painted cast-iron double bed with oval hand-painted inserts. It is located in Santa Cruz. California, and is for pick-up only. It includes headboard, footboard and two rails. The mattress set is not included. This antique French bed has been in our family for 24 years. It is approximately 79" long. 52" wide. As it is European, it is about three inches narrower than a standard American double bed. An American box spring or platform will not fit down inside the frame. Rather, the slats are arranged on top of the frame and the mattress just sits on top of the slats. The mattress hangs over about 1 1/2" on each side, which is no problem. We have used it every day for 24 years and it is quite sturdy( ... morealthough.ahem. we have only had a single sleeper in this bed so we cannot testify to its accommodating more than one! When we purchased it. The oval tin tole-painted inserts were missing, so we had them custom made and professionally painted with three-dimensional pinecones at the head and message at the foot"Rest and be thankful. 2 pc antique French deco bedroom set chest single bed extensive inlay inlaid
I am calling this French deco for style and age. But this furniture is unsigned and I believe the work of a custom cabinet maker. I believe it was made in the 1930s. The set consists of a single bed(that's what you call a twin when you only have one) and a 4 drawer tall chest. This much inlay work of this quality today would cost well over $10,000, so no whining about the price. Be sure to notice the funky drawer pulls. The inlay work is on all 3 sides of the case pieces and just check out the finials on the bed posts. As mentioned above, the spoon feet look like they have been reglued if you look closely, but no parts were changed or replaced. Still all original, just put back together. Everything else is excellent. I just can't say enough about this beautiful well crafted furniture. You will not find another set like it. Dating to over 100 years ago, and with matching monograms, so from the same dowry- a rare find! The fabric is thick metis(an ancient blend of linen and cotton) and smooth to the touch rather than textured. The hems are machine stitched. And the fabric is stiffer and retains its shape, rather than fluid. These sheets are over 100 years old. And have a central seam done by the tiniest handstitches, showing that they were loomed on the narrow looms which were replaced more than a century ago. Wonderful condition and appear hardly used. The monogram has a letter each side of the centre seam so you could unpick the seams completely for 4 panels, each with a monogram on. Lovely Vintage Lingerie-1930’s Silk Charmuese & French Lace Bed Jacket in Pink
Lovely vintage 1930’s silk charmuese and French lace lingerie bed jacket in pretty pink/peach. The bolero style jacket is designed to be worn open with no buttons or snaps. Wonderful elbow length bell sleeves, and French lace trim along every edge. The floral designed lace is in excellent condition with no holes but there is a bit of discoloration along the back neck un-noticeable when worn. There is some faint yellowing throughout: under each armpit, 2 small pen marks about the size of a pinhead on the back, two tiny brown pin hole SIZE(not actual holes) dots on the front left chest, and 1 smaller than a dime size light yellow spot below the back neck edge. There’s also some very faint yellowish undertones difficult to see or notice unless angled in the right light in some various areas. I try to capture any issues in the last group of pictures ... morebut most are very difficult to notice. It’s a wonderful classic 1930’s lingerie bed jacket in the most luxurious silk charmuese. This fabric is a very very high quality and was printed using hand carved wooden blocks. The ground fabric is a densely woven, medium weight linen and cotton blend. This panel is backed in a light to medium weight cotton. This panel has a wonderfully AGED ground, warm age marks aquired with time! Ideal for period interior! I've left this panel unwashed because the tone is simply IDEAL for a 19th century room ~ the colors include: aged warm ground, turquoise, raspberry red, pinks, teal, powder blue, grey and the outline is an a very very dark sienna purple tone! I do not know her past history or maker but label attached to clothing says"Made in France" From the collection of artist"Barbara Carroll" From an Oregon Museum. She measures 14" tall with silk stockinette face having oil painted brown eyes, full thick upper mohair eye lashes, single stroke black brows and closed painted mouth with long accent line through the lips. A beautiful applied face. I believe the face to ear area is a cloth silk stockinette with the back of the head being a cloth. She has celluloid hands with fingers intact with hard cloth body. There are stockings on the legs, I can't be sure what material cloth the body is. I did not remove her clothing. Just look at her exquisite wooden shoes! From the Saxe-Coberg-Gotha Collection, custom made for the Veste Coberg Castle in Coberg, Germany for the Saxe-Coberg-Gotha Royal family in 1840. The Saxe-Coberg family is related to many European royal families including the British Royal Family(Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, second son of Ernst, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha) the Belgian Royal Family, and former Royal Families of Portugal and Bulgaria. These matched pieces feature four finely chased bronze plates by Ferdinand Barbedienne(1810- 1892) of Diana and attendants on the sides and foot of the bed and six on the armoire. Barbedienne works have sold for tens of thousands of dollars alone. These superlative pieces ... moredisplays deeply three dimensional carvings of women, dragons, crowns, and nature motifs. ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ So very very rare ~*~ this wonderful textile dates c1880 and is an antique French bed curtain and valance. Portiere ~*~ this textile would have been part of a very large set and each side would have had a similar construction with the drapes and valance ~*~ This lovely textile is made from woven wool with a lovely green. Rust, cream, red and brown pattern ~*~ There is passementerie trim on this lovely textile which was produced by hand. The backing is a lightly glazed cotton ~ this textile is trimmed at the top with a glazed dark brown cotton. ~ This piece had old rusty hand forged nails still intact at the top. I have looked very carefully to be sure they are all out, however please please do be careful, on the off-chance that I happened to miss one! ~*~ A very very rare find ~*~*~ ~*~( PR 22) MEASUREMENTS: ... more~ this textile measures: 77 inches wide at the top. The side drapes measure: 110 inches long by 23 inches wide at the bottom. CONDITION: this textile is in as found. Not freshly laundered condition with light storage dust. The wool has holes dotted here and there in places all over this textile( please use the zoom feature to view closely) There are storage and water marks and rust marks on the backing in places. GORGEOUS HUGE VINTAGE FRENCH FINE FLOATY NET PORTIERE/WINDOW/BED CURTAIN/DRAPE This lovely vintage French portiere curtain/drape is huge and in excellent condition. It is fine delicate white net with lines of pretty daisy-like flowers running across the width. There is a deep patterned border at the bottom and and gathering rufflette tape at the top. The fabric hangs and billows beautifully. It measures a huge 8' 4" ins( 254 cms) long by 11' 6"ins(3.5 metres) wide and could easily be divided to make a matching pair of large curtain. It could also be used to make a stunning bed canopy drape hung from a ciel de lit above a bed. Sorry but the tie-back is not included in this sale. This is a beautiful antique chandelier dome base that I used as a wonderful lit bed crown. I had a hook in center for it to hang from ceiling and a metal ring with sheer cuttain panels hanging from it. It has screws that will easily hold up a ring of curtains. It is absutely stunning with bows and roses wreaths all around. wiring was updated at some point. This can be used like I had it as a bed crown or uou can add a dome and it can be a chandelier again. Buyers choice: it has rust and shows age. Bows are loose and need to be tightened.
