This is rare opportunity to purchase an authentic Full Tester Bed by the famous antebellum cabinet maker Charles Lee. This impressive bed was made around 1850 and crafted of the finest mahogany. It is identical to the original bed found in the master bedroom in the Natchez antebellum mansion. Rosalie. The arched headboard features carved leafy scroll work which meets in the center with a pendant of hand carved grapes. Pomegranate, and leaves dropping down. Book-matched crotch mahogany accents the central recessed panel. The side rails have carved leaves, volutes, and a central cartouche that resembles a crown. One of the special features of this bed is that it has the most complex bed posts created by C. Lee. Some beds have cluster columns, but this bed has a post with an undulating profile that alternates from convex to concave. Crowning ... morethe bed is wide, flaring ogee tester. The entire bed has a mirror smooth French polish that brings the mahogany to life. The photos are not great, but I assure you the graining of the wood and the finish are clear and bright. I have for auction this fabulous French antique Ciel de lit. Bed canopy or Couronne, I found it on an Antique market here in the South of France, it will date to the Napoléon 111 period, C1870, it is made of a repoussé metal with wonderful elegant detail of scrolls, cartouches and flowers, so very French! perfect for the much sought after Château chic interior we all adore. This Ciel de lit is covered on the top and the inside with simply divine 19th century French shabby chic roses fabric, this ciel de lit is designed to be suspended from the ceiling on it's metal chains, at present the drop is approx 23" or 59cms but this can easilly be lengthened or shortened by adding or removing chain.The diameter is approx 14" or 36cms. The condition is shabby chic, commensurate with it's age, I have left it exactly ... moreas it was found, with the passage of time the metal has taken on a wonderful patina emphasizing it's age, there are two holes in the frame, please see example photo, I think there would have been metal mount embellishments at one time, I have replaced the hooks inside the ciel de lit, some were missing and what was left had gone rusty, so now it is ready to hang antique lace, voile etc, please look at my photographs to see the condition and lovely detail. Vintage pair French fine linen bed sheets 1930's
You are buying a pair of lovely vintage 1930's French fine linen bed sheets. The first sheet is ecru linen with a raised"B" monogram hand stitched. The edges are hemstitching and photographed is a successful repair to the edge(6" There are no other issues that I could see. The measurements are approx. 100" L x 88" W. The second sheet is also made of a beautiful French Linen. It has no monogram. But does have the hemstitching along the edges The color is also an off-white or ecru. I do not see any issues. It measures approx.L 106" x W 80" I purchased these at a recent Estate Sale and they would benefit from a wash/soak to bring them back to a brighter color. Please ask questions before bidding. Up for auction is this antique coverlet and dresser scarf. It's green and cream and was hand made. It's been in a box for quite some time and appears to be in wonderful condition. Would be pretty on a twin bed as a coverlet. Or at the bottom of a full size bed. Folded. There is a dresser scarf to match as shown in the first picture. It is sitting on my twin bed and you can see under the green one that there is another cream spread. That one is mine. You would be receiving just the green and cream two pieces. Antique French fine filet lace bed cover with lace edging and inserts
Antique French( 19th century) very fine filet lace bed cover with lace inserts and edging measuring about 84"square. The filet lace is minute- it consists of vertical rows of extremely finely plaited work which are holding in place the threads running horizontally. The narrow lace inserts are on a Valenciennes diamond ground. The 5" deep frill is needle lace with the thick gimp threads held down by a finer thread. Would also make a pretty curtain. A rust spot and a few holes. The largest is photographed. 370g
