With a deep upholstered removable cushion on each chair, the broad frame and upholstered back, this is a very comfortable and truly functional chairs. They are sturdy and strong, ready for regular use in your home, but more importantly they are a truly wonderful compliment to classical decor. They are made ... moreof cherry with a chocolate brown stain. Golden highlights are present as well. The pair have cabriole legs with carved. Acanthus leaves as well as ball and claw foot details. The apron sections are extremely detailed and ornate. They feature a carved/incised acanthus scroll and shell pattern which is present on all 4 sides. The tops are in a stepped design and are very thick. There is a recessed, window pane feature which is designed for a glass top. The tables are very nice. There are no manufacturer's marks but there is a patent sticker present. They are very sturdy though not exceptionally heavy. There are just a few and very minor nicks and slight scuffs which are not distracting and which can be resolved. The original glass is not present but should be very easy and inexpensive to replace. These are beautiful! Please note that we have the matching sofa table listed separately. The tables are rectangular and can be placed as you choose since the aprons are the same. Antique PAIR Twin Bed Set Painted Carved Wood Shabby Cottage Chic French Louis
This is a Pair of Antique Beds. All wood, believed carved, And hand painted with florals. As shown. Here's what I know for sure, These were carried from Wyoming to Oregon. Where they are located now. I don't know how they got to Wyoming. Maybe by wagon train( These beds are not damaged. And not dirty. They are just mighty aged. And have not been restored. So, authentic chic'n shabby, as shown. My intention. Was to strip and refinish. But that didn't happen. I kept these beds on hand for extra guests. Each has 2" wide Steel'L' shape brackets to hold a platform. And I just added a 3/4" thick strand board from Home Depot. Cut short for ease to 32" x 72" And these hold a ton. No prob. These beds come apart. 4 pieces each, and are easy to assemble by hand. I do not know that these size beds are called ... moretwin. I believe that they. Are a little longer and a bit narrower. These were made using Thick Wood. The Side Rails are 1.5" thick. FRENCH STYLE CANOPY OR FULL TESTER BED FULL SIZE
This is a very nice French style canopy or tester bed circa 1940. The finish is dark and looks like mahagonny wood but I can't be 100% positive. It may be walnut. The grain is tight like mahogany but the finish is brownish. The head board and foot board has the canopy part attached. The side portions of the canopy attach the same as the side rails of the bed with the hooks. The overall size of the bed measures 87 1/4" long. 64" wide, and 81" tall. The mattress portion measures 83" long and 62" wide. The canopy has a nice scalloped detail and the feet have a cabriole appearance. The bed has the original finish and could be cleaned to preserve the aged patina. It is a very attractive bed for a home with 8" ceilings. Antique French Bed Canopy. A stunning and unusual 19 th century French Bed Canopy(Ceil de Lit) In an oval shape and with its repousse brass front around its entire shape. As can be seen from the close ups the design consists of angels with wings and a heraldic shield. The original wood structure is in excellent strong condition with no worm and with the remains of its original old French grey paint with a series of hooks to the inside for fitting the drapes. Because of its shape this canopy can be situated either at the head of the bed or in the centre. And here in France are much used over day beds. The hand done drawn thread work is along the 3 sides of the turn down area. The turn down on the bed sheet is 34" deep. The embroidery work is in the center panel and the embroidery area is 24" x 15" There are also button holes so that you can thread a ribbon through the bed sheet. The flower motif embroidery work has some raised padded stitching around the roses. Drooping flowers and some of the leaves. The words BONNE NUIT(Good Night) are also done in a padded stitch. The floral motif embroidery work looks to be some machine work embroidery and some hand embroidery work. Photos 10 and 11 show the ... morereverse side of the bed sheet's embroidery work. Where you can see the hand stitching with some of the threads"crossing over" in random ways and patterns. This is where the embroidery work done is for anchoring or knotting the work when the embroiderer was starting or finishing off at certain points in the embroidery work.
