Hi for sale I have two matching vintage/antique John Widdicomb twin beds. They have a beautiful French country design. They are in reall great vintage shape. The headboards have a painted foloral design. With a thick gold rope going around. I think the big tassles at the end. The beds are clean and smoke free. The rope might be coming apart a little at the seam. See photo#7(really no big deal) each measures: 42" wide x 78" long. And the headboard is 43 3/4" tall at the tallest measure. I live in a house full of vintage beds. And you can make them work with modern mattresses. If you push these two beds together, you could make it a king. A typical king bed measures: 83" long x 52" wide. In my own home, I measured my mattress, I had to pull my two twin beds apart a little. Huge antique white cotton hand made crochet cover about 94" x 74" There have been some repairs which are quite difficult to spot when the cover is spread out(see photos 8 and 9) The last photo shows a square in need of a tiny stitch. Only three tassels are missing. Good quality cotton which will last a great deal longer than it already has! Freshly washed. Quite heavy. Just under 2 kgs.

Antique French creamy white cotton bed cover with insert lace squares. Decoration and edging. The centre panel(including insert lace) measures about 49" x 83. The sides measure about 19" From centre insert to outer edge. The shorter(pillow end) measures 8½" Scalloped bobbin lace edging around the hems. A huge bobbin lace centre measuring 7" square and two smaller ones. Pulled thread work leading from the bobbin lace squares and out into the lace edging. There is a large hole on one corner of the cover(photo 11) and on the other long side of the cover are some holes in the insert lace. See the last photo. Some of the bobbin lace has pulled away from the muslin. Easy to repair. One small wine coloured mark and a few rust spots. I have only given a light wash. Rust will come out with rust remover. Large scale floral fabric, one of the most beautiful I have seen. The colors include: deep red( more of a blue red than a tomato red) true red, soft pink, pale lilac, deep lilac, moss green, muted gold, cream and a lovely terracotta ~ it is stunning! ~ This textile has a length of woven trim that runs the width, near the top and bottom of the cover. At the top of the cover, there are 2 inset bolster ends that are also trimmed with the woven trim. These have large metal rings stitched in place inside. This is a wonderful French Bed Cover with wonderful filet lace inserts around the perimeter of the piece as well as one at the top of a Lady in a Wagon and in the Center of Angels and Cherubs about a Lady Backgrounded in a Very fine Voile and trimmed in a fine lace. Great detail in the inserts and the inserts in nice condition for the age. Few pulls but not bad. The Voile being such a fine delicate material does have some damage and repair as I have tried to photograph in detail. Most of the damage appears to be at the foot area. Simply put.rare, extraordinary and exceptional. One sees crocheted bedcovers of this type rather regularly.and I have on occasion seen knitted ones but I have never seen anything to compare to this amazing coverlet. Entirely hand knit on very small sized needles with the most intricate and most unusual possible pattern. As those of you who both knit and crochet know. Crochet generally goes much more quickly than knitting and is somehow a bit'easier' Knitting generally requires much more focused attention.especially when working a an intricate pattern such as this. This French antique(it likely ... moredates from about 1910-1930) coverlet has been worked in diamond shaped lozenges that have been joined with lacey rows in between. The panels themselves have a motif of the Cicada( the word'Cigale' is the term used in Provence) which is so much a symbol of the Provence area of France. One sees them everywhere there.in pottery and metal versions and now we have found them in knitted form! The time and attention that would have been required to work each panel with one of these amazingly detailed creatures is mind-boggling. Just amazing.this level of excellence of work. Finally the entire piece. On all four sides(which is quite unusual) has been given an open-work knitted and scalloped border Most often the border of these coverlets is on two or at most three sides with the top edge left plain. This knitter has gone the extra mile and made her border go all around her work on all four sides. I am just in awe of this truly magnificent thing. I knit a bit myself so I know the hours. Vintage French Pure Linen Sheet Monogram MC Bed 7.5x 12 foot 100 Years Antique This is a wonderful large and beautifully smooth pure linen sheet. Made more than 100 years ago. This has a centre seam which is handsewn with the tiniest stitches, and shows it was loomed on an old-style loom. Floppy and sinuey pure linen. This has some texture and slubs, but is smooth to the touch, and heavy. The large and curly monogram MC is handstitched. With one letter each side of the centre seam. Lovely monogram and a massive size- this bed sheet would also make a terrific bed cover. It has a repair in the centre. And a slightly thinner area about 30" square. It is still perfectly useable as a sheet, but even with the thinner area cut out, this is still an enormous and wonderful sheet! 1926 Gerling Toy antique composition cloth French boudoir bed doll HOTSY TOTSY
Offering a charming old French boudoir bed doll. I do not know her past history I purchased her from a doll estate. But will try to describe her the best I can, hand written tag attached says"Gerling Toy Co. NY, London, Paris, Germany, Hotsy Totsy" boudoir doll 1926" I did not remove her original clothing to look for a makers name, most of these dolls are unmarked and their clothing stitched up the back. Bed dolls were used as displays decor on the bed in the 1920s/1930s period. Measures 28" tall being a composition flange head with cloth stuffed body. I see no cracks on this composition head and only minor wear. I do need to mention a tiny hole on the right cheek(see photo#5) possibly a factory flaw I don't know. A wonderful face with"unusual" painted black eyes, the liner extends far beyond the eyes, blue ... moreshadow on her eye lids with black single stroke brows, closed mouth, light color blush on her cheeks. Light brown human hair wig is secure on her head, looks very old with a center stitched part, I believe her original wig. Her body looks to be in nice shape and well cared for. She has really long legs and long arms with dress material covering the arms and hands so I do not know if there are fingers, hands are all cloth. Her body is a"red" stuffed cloth. There are black shoes on her feet, this is how I purchased her so I do not know if the shoes are her original or a replacement. Orig clothing shows wear throuhout but no serious rips or stains, there is a half slip under her dress. I have taken plenty of photos.
