Description: Two pieces of wooden bedroom furniture made by Mattel in the mid-1950s. These items have a definite Eames era vibe and bare the Mattel maker's stamp. Bed: The original and hard to find gold brocade bedspread was found with the pieces. The headboard and frame fit together using a tongue and groove method. Edges of the headboard are displaying some rubs. And there's been a repair at the bottom edge of the top of the wood bed where a slice of the wood has been reglued. Bedspread is stain free. But does have a couple small pulls. Wood top of the bed displays a mark. Dresser with Mirror: The dresser is missing one peg leg and one side panel needs to be reglued. ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY NATURAL LINEN SHEET/BED COVER, CENTER SEAM, NICE TEXTURE
This homespun linen sheet/bed cover is antique 19th century. It is a wonderful natural linen color. The first picture being closest to its true color. There is a center seam, the two panels neatly joined by hand stitching. The top and bottom of the sheet are turned under and also neatly hand stitched. The sheet measures 62 1/2" wide. Selvedge to selvedge, made up of two 31 1/4" panels. It is 89" long. It is in good condition overall. There is only one darned repair, as shown in the close-ups, and one small darker area, which is hard to see. It is clean with no odors, and has only slight age discoloration, not unexpected for a linen textile of this age. The sheet is a heavier weight linen, almost 6 pounds, with nice texture. This is a quite rare and exceptionally nice antique Chinese Kang bed rug. It appears to be late 19th century at the latest and possibly an earlier. It has some wear from age but has been used as a wall hanging for quite a few years and so it looks very nice. I have taken many photos of both sides so you can really see condition well. There is a strip of old fabric sewn at the top of one side so a rod can be used to hold it as a wall hanging- This fabric strip can be easily removed but I left it intact in case buyer would like to use the rug as a wall hanging. Vintage Mid Century 50's Bakelite Bed Lamp, EX Cond
Vintage Mid Century 50's Bakelite Bed Lamp. EX Cond M.E.P.M. Co. Made of Bakelite. An early form of plastic. Very durable and rich in color. This is what would be called a bed lamp as it was designed to clip to your headboard. This is a nice compact design with a hood over the light which would direct the light specifically towards your book. Etc. Inside the lamp is a polished steel reflector behind the bulb. The lamp body top has vent louvers to help dissipate the heat created by the light bulb. The lamp measures just 5-1/2" long x 1-7/8" wide x 1-3/8" high. The steel clip attached to the lamp is secured via 2 screws and measures 3-3/4" long along the stabilizer and the hook portion is 1-1/2" wide. Original Antique 19th-Century Brass Bed Warmer Pan Really neat collector's item Measurements: 109.1 x 13cm_ 43 x 51 inches Hanging a warming pan near the hearth is not just a decorator's idea. The fireplace was always a sensible place for it. So it could easily be filled with glowing coals or wood embers before being taken away to warm the bed. Using a hot stone or brick heated at the fireside is one way of carrying warmth from the hearth into bed. By the 16th century people were also taking pans filled with smouldering fuel from the fire itself. The well-known brass or copper warming pan on a handle was not the only way of doing this. There were also wooden frames designed to hold pots of fuel inside the bedclothes. See lower down the page) A warming pan. Sometimes known as a bed warmer nowadays, was a valuable family possession ... morehanded down from generation to generation, but not so expensive that it was only for the rich. Typical of middle to end 19th century French furnishing fabric. The ground is aubergine. The pattern of exotic birds and flowers in pinks, cream, light blue and turquoise. This spectacular bed cover is entirely hand made and is almost fully lined. Bed cover is 92" long with an added scalopped edge 16½" deep and 88" wide at foot. The scalopped edge is the only unlined piece. The main part of the cover is 92" long and is made up of 2 lengths at 30" wide and one outer panel of 30" which has a cut out corner at each end in order to hang over the edge of bed. Mid-Century Keystone Bed and Strombecker Table for 8 to 10 inch dolls

No issues with the wood finish, except there are small holes in the tops of the posters and a couple of chips where they don't show or cause problems. The beautiful details, like the turned bedposts are the hallmark of the Keystone doll furniture. They were manufactured in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1954 to 1960 for dolls of the mid-century period such as Cissette and Wendy. FAO Schwarz marketed them with those dolls, but they were made for all small dolls of the time. The beds had cardboard"box springs. which were actually boxes, open at the bottom, covered with blue paper. Not very durable, so there are far more beds available without them. A new"box spring" ... morecould be fashioned from cardboard or perhaps tongue depressors used for bed slats. The Strombecker table works fine and the wood finish is very good. Except for one leg which was obviously broken(someone's older brother? and repaired with glue residue left on it. There is no leaf for the table. Up for auction I have a vintage mid century headboard for a Queen size bed. It is press board with a laminate on top. Has a blonde tone with a cool green stripe towards the bottom. Unfortunately there is no maker on the headboard but I believe it is American made. It is definitely from the 50's or earlier. Has a really nice look to it. It measures about 83" long or about 6.9 feet. It is about 39 1/2" tall and only over an 1" thickness. Its very light and has a terrific look. Bed has some areas of wear and knicking that I have pictured. Back has very nice old metal hardware that keeps it together. Buyer pays shipping and handling.
