Our magnificent bed, which will not fit into our retirement quarters when we move, is going to have to find another guardian of its affairs. Please set your eyes upon this heavy. Antique 1880's Walnut hand carved single bed
This is a single art carved style walnut bed of 1880's origin. Hand made with original dark finish and large burl accents. It has some minor cracks in edges of the burl but it is a beautiful representative piece of the era. Look at the pictures and note the details are so delicate in appearance. This bed is from an era of hard wood craftsmanship seldom found today. A modern bed with this level of detail would cost much more than this well preserved bed that will be in your family for generations. The bed has 5 hardwood carved flowers and the upper head board has vines and a central bird with feathers detailed greatly. All hardware is original and local pickup only. It has a tag on the headboard and footboard that indicates it is a high-quality Paine item. The side rails were all twisted as they usually are on old beds like this, so Mike in our manufacturing department made a new set and it now will accommodate a modern-day twin size box spring and mattress, 39 inches wide by 75 inches long. The bed has bolt-in rails, making it all tight and sturdy. It has heavy acanthus carving all along the multi-turned outside posts, which are all 59 inches high. The outside width of the bed is 43 inches wide, the headboard shield is 46 inches high, and the footboard shield is 36 inches high. The bed has been all re-sprayed in a dark reddish color to bring out the gorgeous acanthus carving on the four posts, and across the headboard shield, where the flame mahogany matched panel veneer just shines with style. This is a Pair of Antique Beds. All wood, believed carved, And hand painted with florals. As shown. Here's what I know for sure, These were carried from Wyoming to Oregon. Where they are located now. I don't know how they got to Wyoming. Maybe by wagon train( These beds are not damaged. And not dirty. They are just mighty aged. And have not been restored. So, authentic chic'n shabby, as shown. My intention. Was to strip and refinish. But that didn't happen. I kept these beds on hand for extra guests. Each has 2" wide Steel'L' shape brackets to hold a platform. And I just added a 3/4" thick strand board from Home Depot. Cut short for ease to 32" x 72" And these hold a ton. No prob. These beds come apart. 4 pieces each, and are easy to assemble by hand. I do not know that these size beds are called ... moretwin. I believe that they. Are a little longer and a bit narrower. These were made using Thick Wood. The Side Rails are 1.5" thick. Up for sale we have a most pretigious Empire French Day Bed. This piece is signed on the underside for the bed"Leconte A. Alencon 1807.See Pictures) We purchased this bed from the collector and he purchased it from an estate in Lansing Michigan some years back. The party we purchased the bed from had owned it since the 1970's. The bed fits together very well and is held together by very long bolts that hold the side rails to the main bed sides. The Egyptian Style heads and feet are simply delightful. This piece was most likely influenced by the Napolian aquisition of Egyptian artifacts brought back from Egypt in 1805. This bed is in excellant condition for its age. We took it down with the owner when we purchased it. It was in use with a mattress on it when we purchased it.
