Condition: Used Location: Hyde Park, United States Beautiful. Heavily flaked quarter sawn oak sideboard in the manner of RJ Horner. Pics tell most of the story. Measurements are as follows: 84"W x ... more69"T X 24"D. Weight: approx. 150-200lbs. There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I mentioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

1870's stunning antique french hand carved double bed
It is in incredible condition. There is a slight damage where the old wood that is vaneered over the other wood a small patch has come off long before i got it but it doesnt show as its where the bedding and your feet are, it has everything all slats etc, i brought it over from france when i moved here amongst many other beautiful pieces i am doing a non profit film and i am trying to raise some money for it, hence why i am selling it, they only made a certain amount this is numbered 561, i live in astoria new york so if you want to come and see it then call my cell 917 528 1979 and you can see it put together it is so chic incredibly carved french antique, i will take more pictures

Splendid carved Bed. Adorned with hand-carved acanthus leaves and peonies(not wood appliqués) Although the bed isn’t signed. It was clearly made by a master craftsman. The wood looks like cherry(I’m not a wood expert) The bed appears to have been made in the late 19 th Century or early 20 th Century. It was certainly constructed before mattress sizes became standardized. The frame will holds full-size mattress with some extra space all around. There is some age-appropriate wear: scuffs and dings especially on the feet and some on the rails. There is a dark grain(not a crack) and a couple of light scratch marks on the foot-board. There is a small hole on the edge of the headboard that looks as though it was made with a tack. Could easily be filled. I purchased the bed from an antique dealer in upstate NY about 25 years ago. I bought this piece at an estate sale in Texas. It is in very good condition but headboard is missing bracket as shown and should not be too hard to replace. Headboard measures 56 1/2 tall and 71 inches wide. The footboard measures 36 1/2 inches tall and 71 inches wide. The distance from rail to rail measures 66 inches wide and each rail measures 77 1/2 inches long without screws and end pieces. The bed is 88" high. Circa 1810. This American bed is possibly from the workshop of Duncan Phyfe. Most early beds of this period had plain front posts. Not the case here. This fine mahogany sheraton bed has four nicely reeded and acanthus carved posts of the best quality. The headboard and posts are original with the rails being changed out at a later date with some alterations to the fittings where the bolts go into the posts. A firm fit. The tester is not available. Made in France. It's a lovely example of Breton or Quimper carving; it also comes with a full feather mattress and modern doll quilt so dollie doesn't catch cold! Take a careful look at the carving- the headboard has leaves. Berries, and a stylized Tudor rose at center; the footboard features an asymmetrical floral design of leaves, ... morevines, buds, and a central cross within a diamond(so the child can see the crucifix at night, a design seen in full sized Breton beds) and even the tops of the posts have Malteze crosses, just lovely. The headboard and footboard have curved piece panels; we think the bed slats(which are removable) may be later, possibly c1950s, or just made from lesser woods. This is heavy. But able to be disassembled; most of the screws seem to be the originals, with just a couple of later replacements; we will take it apart for shipping. It also comes with a lovely little ticked cotton feather mattress, probably c1930s era, which fits the bed perfectly, and a more modern pieced cotton quilt; some stains to mattress but quilt looks almost new. No chips or cracks to the bed, just allover vintage dust and dirt and vintage wear as to be expected. We've shown you the bed with a 17" antique bisque baby in it- this would fit quite a large variety of dolls- or several could crowd in at once for a delightful antique display! Antique Pair of Traditionally Carved Chinese Red and Gilt Screen Panels From a Wedding Bed. Or possibly interior shutters for decorating the inside of temple windows. 15" wide x 40" high. Four intricately carved scenes. Two on each screen, with three floral and leaf panels top, bottom, and center. Metal hinges for hanging have been added at the top at a later time. Photos show where each screen was joined to other panels at the top, bottom, and sides, probably by wooden pegs and tenon. Beautiful rich red multiple tones with traces of gilt highlight the carvings. Excellent, intact condition. A few normal areas of wear.

Rare Antique Monumental Chinese Wedding Bed Purchased from an Estate Sale Elaborately Carved. Antique Chinese Wedding Bed Chamber, Including Rear Canopy Bed Sleeping Area, With Alcove Greeting And Seating Area In Front. All Wooden Framework. Fabulous Piece! Measures 93x84x81. It appears to be from the late 1800's or very early 1900's. The front of the alcove section of the bed chamber features beautifully carved panels of garden scenes. Scrolls and pieced carvings. Much of the carvings are embellished with reflective mica, for a glittering effect. The carved panels have a reddish, clear lacquer finish and are highlighted in places with silver and gold lacquer. Between the alcove and the raised bed platform entranceway is a multitude of panels which show different Chinese tradition scenes. In the Chinese tradition having many sons ... morewas very desirable. The raised bed platform in the rear of the bed chamber is where a mattress-like cushion is placed for sleeping. This area is equivalent to a full size western bed(52" x 80" The sleeping area has four windows on each side. These windows have wooden panels that can be raised or lowered for privacy. Light and warmth. The ceiling of the bed area is wood. Construction of the bed chamber is fascinating. As no nails or glue was used. All wooden framework, beams, supports, panels and carvings are held in place by locking together with tension- making assembly and disassembly simple. In fact, the entire bed chamber can be assembled in about one hour using a rubber mallet and about four people to hold the pieces in place. Although some of the photos show the bed chamber with chairs. Tables, bed covering and drapes, those are not included with the bed in this sale. Because of the size and weight.
