We are pleased to present this antique bed frame. Acquired from a generations-owned family estate out of Montana. From what we were told, it has been in the same family all this time. This antique bed certainly looks the part, and while it is in overall good condition, it does have a few items worth mentioning. The paint is flaking(see photos) and there is some surface rust, though this is nothing that will affect the display quality or functionality of the bed itself. At some point in its long history. The brass top bar was lost from the footboard. This again does not affect the stability of the bed. This listing is for a brass tea light candle lantern. A miniature bed warmer with wood handle, and a copper snuffer with twisted brass handle. I don't see maker's marks on any of the pieces, and I have no idea how old they are. The lantern measures 7.5" to the top of the handle, 5.75" to the top of the chimney and 3" across the bottom of the base. No cracks or chips in the chimney. The bed warmer is about 9.5" long, and the brass part is 2.75" across and 1" high, to the top of the cover. There is a dent in the cover. The snuffer is 11" long. All three pieces need polishing. Two pieces of fireplace decoration, a brass chestnut roaster & a bed warming pan
This twosome will provide your fireplace with fine decoration– there is a wee hanging brass chestnut roasting pan and a hammered brass& wooden bed warming pan. DETAILS The chestnut roasting pan is made from brass and is more or less an 8” x 2” drum with a holed lid. The shaped handle too is brass with a little hole at the end in order that it can be hung up. The full length of the roaster is 20” The bed warming pan has an 11” wide x 3” pie dish shaped bowl with a hammered brass lid which has a wee D shaped lifter- the lovely dark wooden turned handle has a brown leather thong tied to the end in case you wanted to hang it up in say a bedroom perhaps. But it’s really designed to sit on the hearth and just balance against the fireplace. In total the warmer measures 34” long from the tip of the handle to the end of the brass pan. I would ... moredate this pair to perhaps the 20’s or 30’s and they are both in lovely vintage condition– there are of course various welcome signs of age to be found but nothing at all that spoil the function nor display. This bed is the highly desirable'mountain top' or also called'triple hump' style bed with fancy iron castings including angel faces on both the head and foot boards(see photos) The bed is a standard full size 54" wide. But someone has already had the rails extended in length so they can acomidate a queen size boxspring and mattress which is longer also wider than the old style fullsize. The bed measures 67 1/2" tall and 54" wide. The footboard is 51" tall. A modern queen size boxspring or foundation is 60" wide and 78" long. The bedding extends over the top of the side rails a few inches on each side and the rails have been extended to 81 1/2" leaving a few inches ... moreto spare on length. Headboard measures a stately 51.5 inches tall at headboard posts and 3 feet high on the footboard posts and approximately 60 inches across on center. Both the headboard and footboard are matching design with a very elegant 4 vertical post/3 horizontal rail design with caps. Some light speckle finish wear here and there; extremely few dents that are practically unnoticeable. This is a very well kept heavy and well-constructed vintage brass tube bed which matches our Beds of Virginia king in replica design(we wrote a check to Beds of VA King for $5500 in 1982 for that bed! Solid Brass Canopy Bed(stead) richly detailed with ornate and heavy brass castings. All decorative parts are solid brass and the four posters and are inlaid with elegant scroll carvings. The headboard and footboard also have heavy moulded carvings in place. The bed has a fabulous and elegant design with four"etched" see pictures) posters supporting an 8-spine canopy. On top of which sits a solid brass crown(15" 18" diameter) The dimensions of the bed are 54" wide by 80" long and approximately 78" high(not including the canopy) The bedframe and rails are held together with cast iron"knuckle fixings" and once in place. The bed will not rock or squeak and will continue to get more and more solid as the weight of the occupants locks the fixings together. I have owned this elegant. Turn of the century brass bed with patent label still attached. Manufactured by the Simmons Company in 1905. All parts are with the bed including frame rails which are not pictured. There is only one flaw with the bed which I tried to show in the last two pictures. One of the spindles is missing a weld, but you cannot tell unless you look closely.

Amazing antique Marshall & Stearns brass-like murphy bed -- full size, ca. 1920
Hi, I have a small house. Built in 1922, that originally had no bedrooms. Instead it had fold-down beds mounted on immense doors- they would fold up and swing into special closets when not in use. When I first moved into the house I got one of these antique beds working, and we used it as a guest bed for a long time. To see a picture of one in action, check out this vintage ad from google books: Well. Now we are converting one of the special closets into an office, and I need to pass this incredible"Marshall& Stearns" brand bed on to someone else. What you get is a solid steel and iron bed(which at some point in the distant past was painted a brass-type color) which fits a full size mattress. It has a folding headboard with a spring mechanism to help you lift it, though the spring is somewhat weaker than it must have been 90 ... moreyears ago. It also has two massive L-brackets which you would bolt into a wall. Or, to make life simpler, you could just set it up as a non-moving bed. You will need to be a little bit handy to get this to work. I have all the parts. And they all fit together and work, but this is a heavy item that needs to be assembled correctly. I did it by following the picture of the folding mechanism in the pictures below. Documentation of these antique beds is hard to find, so the picture of the mechanism is actually form a different brand bed, but it is quite similar to the bed for sale here and can guide your reconstruction. One metal bar(which adjusts the angle of the folding headboard) is broken, but it is a small and non-essential piece that is easily replaceable. This bed is available for local pickup only. This is indeed a vintage walnut bed warmer. On the back it reads" Perrage" and"From 494th Wives. RAF Lakeheath, May 1969. RAF stands for Royal Air Force. It is in a golden tone brass and its length is 21" with a width of 5 l/4" It has a few minor scratches and a slight bent at the end of the top. 494th Wives were the wives of the royal Air Force Base pilots in l969. This is a historical and military item. Very collectible.
