Bed: This beautiful high back bed measures a total height to the top of the head-board is 80 inches( 6 ft 8 in) Height of the foot-board measures 31 inches, height to the flat portion of the fancy side rails measures 15 inches. Double bed with headboard frame& foot board- legs have castors. The foot-end has double legs/castors which I find intriguing. There are also support boards running across the frame. Antique Vintage 1940's Bedroom Furniture Set Suite Art Deco
This set belonged to my parents. Originally purchased in the mid-1940's. When they liked something, they liked it-and kept it. It's in very good condition. There is a scratch on the top of one side of the dresser, as shown in a photo. One leg apparently had weakened and my father had repaired it with a piece of sheet metal, as shown. It doesn't show on the outside edge, but they always had a long bedspread over it, so it didn't show, anyway. The drawers are all very clean, as shown. This wonderful wood with veneer 5 pc Tiger Maple Bedroom Suite from the 1920's is beautiful and unique. In the 1920's a lot of veneer was used as solid wood was really expensive. The set includes the full size bed with a headboard/footboard and side rails. 2 tall night stands, a high-boy chest of drawers, and a short vanity with mirror. This set was purchased at Morris Antiques in Keo, AR a few years ago. The set does have some damaged areas, dings, and scratches from moving(but can be repaired by a qualified professional) I have tried to take pictures of all of the major flaws.Night stand leg has wood missing, night stand has cracks in veneer top, foot board veneer is coming loose on one corner and also has a bubbled area under the veneer, and the vanity mirror has a cracked area) Overall, this is still a very nice set! Collectors Set- Family Heirloom Bedroom Set has been in my family since the 1930's and may predate that time. Handled gently. It was owned by my great Aunt and later passed down to me. The Thomasville Emblem can be found inside some of the drawers. The model number stamped on the back of each piece is L-553. The wood is in amazing condition and has never been refinished. Some surfaces on the top could use smoothing and refinishing but overall the set is truly gorgeous. The wood slats across the bed which hold up the mattress are the original pieces. The furniture came from John Widdicombs granddaughter and was given to my customer.She has had it for a very long time. She said it is turn of the century and/or victorian. Made in the late 1800s or early 1900s. We are not sure what type of wood it is. Appears to be maple or ash. It has a veneer finish. The bed comes with a headboard.Footboard and side boards. Complete bed. The bed measures 54 1/2" w by 70 1/2"tall X 77" This is a long bed and is unusual because its a full or double. The dresser has four drawers and two smaller drawers on the top. The dresser also comes with a mirror. It is a very victorian looking mirror. One of the Tenon joints has broken on the frame and there has also been a repair to a leg which could do with tidying up. Additionally the chair needs reupholstering. This would make a fantastic project for someone studying furniture restoration and it would be an amazing item to own once complete! I have set the TV on it, placed it in the foyer, bedroom, etc. There are great details, inset drawers, English style bun feet, gorgeous solid brass hardware and a very slight white wash to the finish. I took a picture of the dovetailed drawers. There is a mar on the inside of a drawer that does not affect the use. Drawers open and close well. Sorry about the shadows on the photos! The piece has the numbers#16911-350 on the back and says Oak. But I believe that is the stain color. I believe it was built in the 1980's as a document reproduction for this collection.
