This bed is hand carved from old-growth solid walnut. The fittings are wrought iron and the spindles are unevenly turned. When it is put together. It is very sturdy-the hardware was brilliantly set. It's about 6' long, so it was intended for a tall person to sleep in, not a child. Most likely a campaign bed for an officer, or a servant's bed. It's quite narrow. I cut new slats for it, but it was originally a slatted campaign bed, not a rope bed. There is no mattress for it. There is one crack in the headboard that could easily be repaired. It's all original except for the slats. Must pick it up in Sycamore. Illinois.

The tag has a Indian head and reads Montour Furniture Company Montourville. PA. Very limited search results on this furniture company but the Montour Furniture Company is listed in the Grand Rapids Furniture Record in Jan. 1921 so you know this is a quality and well made bed. Headboard measures 49 1/2" tall and 42 1/4" wide. Footboard measures 27 1/2" tall and ... more42 1/4" wide. Mattress area measures 38" wide and 74" long. The side rails fit tight and there is three cross boards included. The bed is solid and strong and can be used daily. Light scratches and rubs from age and use that is common to all antique furniture. There is also a few small pieces of detail trim missing on the footboard as pictures will show. Sorry about the poor quality pictures but the sun was going down and causing dark shadows. Walnut wood is carved and has a distressed look(i.e. it is not smooth) The walnut color is darker vs. lighter, but not anywhere near black, it's like a warm, rich brown. Antique Walnut High Headboard Bed Beautiful Carvings and Gold Metal Castings
This is a beautiful high headboard walnut. And burl walnut bed. The dimensions are close don't kill me if I'm off a half inch here or there. It is 89 inches tall, 57 inches across on the inside of the frame, 74 inches long once again on the inside of the frame, and the foot board legs are 34 inches tall. I'm guessing it is from the 20's or 30's and is in excellent condition for it's age. There is a narrow shrinkage crack in the left hand headboard panel, other than that there are some small dents and dings in it, look at the pictures to see what you think or ask for more pictures and I will be happy to send them. The yellow metal castings are very well done a man's head with a lion's head perched on top of his. Great carvings of a pair of pears at the top of the headboard. There is a fringe across the foot ... moreboard. And there are round roller casters built into all four corners of the bed. Early American Antique Spool Bed w/ Bed Bolts, Walnut & Ash
Antique Spool Bed*Loaded with clues. But uncertain of age. Researched and found that this type of bed existed in early colonial days*I have incessantly been trying to determine if this could be one of those extremely rare 17th century colonial beds and deserves to be in a museum. But it isn't conclusive. I saw pictures of one that looked similar in a Spanish colonial museum. Write to me proofs that I am wrong, asking for more photos if necessary. I'd like to error towards the favorable value. Maybe it is listed at an outlandish price currently, maybe it's way too low. So, appraisers out there, let me know what is true. Clues include: 1. Unevenly spaced spools(Done by hand) 2. Thick Ash Lower Frame 3. Walnut Upper Frame 4. Originally Rope Bed: later modified by sawing off knobs& hueing out places for wood slats 5. Shrinkage ... moreof Wood(see photos) 6. Large Mortise& Tenon Construction 7. Sawn off feet& caster wheels added(Likely due to once being on dirt floor) 8. Seemingly. Originally made without bed bolts(hewn out top of mortise with added material in bottom of mortise. However, the location of the holes for the bolts line up perfectly. The only other possibility is that the wood shrank and somehow shifted the hole upwards. 9. Age of bed bolts unidentified. But hand-forged on at least the head area. Can anyone ID age of these? 10. At least 5 or 6 coats of paint over the original varnish(milk paint seen?

Here is an unusual caster most likely for use inside of a brass or steel bed frame leg. It would fit inside a 3/4" opening and one that is at least 1 1/2" deep. The wheel is 1 1/2" in diameter and 5/8" thick. Overall this caster is 3 1/2" in length. This wooden wheel looks definitely like solid walnut wood. It is in very good condition without cracks. Chips or flat spots. Condition: The caster overall is in very good condition. The axle is not worn very much on the wheel. And the swivel mechanism works smoothly. A monumental and immaculate tall bed in carved and burled walnut from the Aesthetic period of the Victorian era. This bed likely dates to the 1870's. The bed is extremely ornate. Really amazing and a work of art. Measures 83" in length, 61" wide and stands, 87" high. Fits a full size mattress. Condition is excellent, one crack on the back panel below the mattress(does not affect the integrity and you can't see it with a mattress) and the photos speak for themselves. Antique Jenny Lind walnut spool twin bed with slats 100+ yrs in my family
You are b idding on an antique Jenny Lind spool bed in twin size. This bed has been in my family for at least 5 generations. When I was a little girl my sister and I needed beds(this was about 1963) So my grandparents went into the old brick one-room schoolhouse on their property, which they used as a storage shed. These beds had been stored in there for at least 60 years by that time. It is a twin bed frame. Included are: headboard. Foot board, original wood side rails, original slats(which were made from antique wood floor boards by my great-grand-father) There is original metal hardware to connect the side rails to the head and foot board- it is a metal keyhole slot. I have tried to photo graph its condition as accurately as I can. For such a well-used piece. Its overall condition is pretty good. The finish is worn. Which I personally ... morelove, but you could paint it too. There is a missing ch unk out of the foot board"shoulder" which is about 1 inch by 2 inches. It still works fine. But needs to be filled with wood putty or similar to make it look better. A few places have been glued back together over the years. There are numerous screw holes from people putting the bed together, although it will assemble without the screws. The wood slats simply set into the niches of the side rails. They can be screwed into place for a more permanent solution. The second bed is being offered in a separate listing. For parts. Sadly, it has not weathered as well as its mate. Antique Victorian Bed Desk Cabinet Walnut Topper Crest Salvaged Wood Pediment
Old topper probably off of a bed but would make a nice wall or door pediment. Painted with an old coat of light green paint over walnut wood. The crest is very deeply carved with the curved top part protruding out about 3 1/2" from the face. Has no damage except a chip which is in the back so really a non issue. Has a small hole drilled into the face so as to mount to the wall with a screw. This thing is huge.measures about 19" wide X about 15" tall X about 6 1/2" thick at the thickest point.
