The hand caned seat and back are certainly replacements done many years ago– at some point when the frame received attention. The frame appears to be walnut and there is a burl walnut decorative panel at the top. There is also incised decoration on several parts of the chair- including at the top and bottom of the chair back. The two front legs and the front horizontal spindle are nicely turned. The wood rocking chair frame has a nice patina from age and use.
