This is a really nice pair of posts from an antique rope bed. I believe they are cherry or have a cherrry finish and measure aprox. 42" high x 3 1/4" square. They have some obvious wear. Nicks and dings which you can see in the pictures. It is available for pickup or can be delivered by Fed Ex ground for 16.80 including insurance. antique cannon ball rope bed with massive turnings and round rails
Listing tonight is a fantastic antique cannon ball poster rope bed that makes a statement. Made of solid maple the turnings are massive and the details are stunning. It has round side and end rails that are mortise and tenon that tighten with bed bolts. The finish is original and very soothing in tone. The headboard has some mortise notches from long ago and add to the charm. This recent barn find has the potential to anchor a master bedroom in a log cabin or loft. It would require a framework between the rails or add a plywood platform to lay mattress on top. The length between the posts is 81 inches and the width is 50 inches between the posts. A full size x- long mattress is 54 x 80 inches and a queen x-long is 60 x 80. They also make custom size mattresses that would be ideal. It is 52 inches to the top of the turnings and 20 inches off ... morethe floor. This massive bed is very heavy and is to large to ship but i can hold for you if traveling through the area soon. THIS IS A VERY WELL MADE HAND STITCHED AND QUILTED SMALL SQUARE LOG CABIN DESIGNED QUILT. IT WAS PROBABLY MADE FOR A ROPE BED DATING ABOUT THE LATE 1800'S. EARLY 1900'S. THE PIECING IS IN A LOG CABIN PATTERN, CALLED"BARN RAISING" THE BACK HAS A CHARMING SMALL CHECKED GINGHAM BLUE/WHITE PRINT. THE QUILT HAS SLIGHT WEAR ON IT, AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TWO SMALL TEARS JUST ABOVE THE PINK BORDER, SEE PHOTO. THE QUILT MEASURES 60 INCHES BY 70 INCHES. IT WOULD MAKE A LOVELY WALL HANGING, OR DISPLAY PIECE.
