This is a TRUE Antique Handmade. Rare Quality.could go in a Museum or still be used in your home. These beds are Unique and Rare. Especially here in Hawaii! Well over 100+ years old. Circa Early 1800s. WONDERFUL condition, I have used it continuously since I bought it at an antique store in Santa Rosa, California in 2000. I shipped it carefully to Hawaii in 2002. My home is smoke free. The mattress is included; it was custom made in the 90's by the owner before me. It is slightly bigger than a twin, about as big as a full. I use full size sheets on it. The bed is sturdy, has plenty of storage space beneath, and is always a conversation piece. Wood Spacers/Notches on the Post side rails are to tie Rope to; the original ropes are long gone of course but the ski rope used is very strong. Antique rope bed. Fantastic shape, must have been redone one spindle been glued
This was my mothers and looks like it was redone somewhere along the line. It has a high gloss clear over it all over. The spindle was broken by a nephew of mine years ago. It was wood glued back together and is fine now. But the spindles are only 1/4" thick at their narrowest point and are decorative and fragile and not really child friendly. It looks like the spindles were all handmade as none are completely identical. It also has a twin mattress and a feather mattress to go on top of it shown that the buyer can have along with a feather pillow. My mother collected antiques and nothing she had was a reproduction. This is the real deal. Solid(whatever the wood is) There is a twin mattress and a feather mattress to go on top and a feather pillow(shown) that also go with it. We could store it for a month or so in the garage but when the ... morehouse sells. The feather mattress will have to go. Antique rare late 1800s Victorian spool or rope style bedroom set. This vintage set of 3 includes all original bed frame consisting of headboard. Footboard and rails, the original springs will also be included) chest of drawers/dresser, and hard to find cabinet which originally held a wash basin. The cabinet was slightly modified in the early 1900's for kneedlepoint. Knitting, and/or sewing use. The bed is sometimes referred to as the"Jenny Lind" style. These are original authentic pieces fashioned out of beautiful sturdy hardwood with the original finish. There is minor wear, but all are in remarkable condition for their age. Antique 19th century Cannon Ball Rope Bed - circa 1840s
Up for bid is an antique rope bed from the 19th century. It has a beautiful aged patina to it. I believe it is made from maple but not 100% sure. It does have some age cracks on a couple posts which I have shown in photos. But seems to be structurally sound. Bed comes with rope- I did not completely string the bed together for the pictures but the rope is ready to go. Would look great in an old home! Antique authentic Rope bed probably early to mid 1800's. Has the side rails. Although the bed was used with more modern side rails at some point. Antique Doll Bed& Bedding! A gift from Mary Lennox(born 1793) to a cherished daughter. Purchased at estate sale. R eportedly handed down for generations. Mattress on bed signed in ink"Mary Lennox over what appears to be a 7" A note is sewn on the mattress" Mary Lennox own writing. she was born 1793. February 14" We were able to track down some facts about Mary. She was(as indicated on her handiwork) born February 14. 1793 to Alexander& Elizabeth(McNair) Erskine. She married Captain Thomas Lennox April 20, 1820. We were told that the bedding and bed was made for a daughter(we cannot confirm that- however, one of the doll sheets is marked"Georgianna Lennox" and what appears to be"A 2" age 2? Mary now rests with her husband in Sheepscot Cemetery. Newcastle, Lincoln County, Maine. A picture of their ... moregrave site- along with Mary's date of passing(1878) and age(85) is shown in the listing. A WONDERFUL FIND! The bed is about 20 inches long; about 9.75 inches wide; about 8 inches tall(at head board)we think walnut. But cannot tell with certainty. The pieces are loose, and could be reglued. The foot board is missing. The old string support for the mattress still works fine. There are little marks and scratches here and there, but considering it was crafter well before the Civil War it is in impressive condition. The mattress(with mattress cover Mary made) fits the bed the bed nicely. Soiled. Stains a few tiny holes. The pillow is soiled& stained, but in remarkably good shape. The comforter is also soil& stained…and has little feathers trying to protrude! An extra pillow case and sheet are also soiled and stained, with a few little holes in sheet. The sheet has in black script"Georgianna Y(we think) Lennox A. 2" on it. One sheet is very white, and unsoiled compared to the other items of bedding. It looks newer than all the rest. 1870s 4 Poster Rope Bed Low Posts Ontario Canada Antique Primitive
This is a beautiful antique pine 4-post bed from rural Ontario. North of Toronto originally. I have owned this bed for over 40 years. And am now downsizing. It is a 3/4 size. Meaning it is 51 1/2" wide overall outside measurement, and it would take a 49" mattress. Length is 76" inside measurement. You could get away with a double mattress, but it will overhang a couple of inches on either side. The posts are 4' high. The posts are maple. The head and foot boards are pine. The blanket rail is maple. The original rope rails are on the ends. But have been missing for the sides as long as I have had this. We adapted it with old 1890's iron rails and it comes with a fitted plywood base, so all is needed is a mattress. It would be too high with a boxspring and mattress. Alternatively, you could attach the head and foot to ... morea boxspring base. This was refinished 40 years ago. So could have a little refresher of wax, but it is actually not bad. It could also do with a little tightening, but once put together with the rails and plywood, it is very solid and stable. Being maple posts, it is quite heavy. For sale is this early 19th century SIGNED American sacking bottom bed(also commonly referred to as a rope bed by some) The bed is painted and signed"Mack Beardsley. St. Helena, NY 1839" It features lovely stenciled decoration and the surface appears to be original. The overall measurements of the bed are approximately 41" tall, 75" long, and 37" wide. It was obviously cut down at some point and made smaller, possibly to accommodate a smaller room for a child. The headboard has a straight cut down the center, and there is a board fastened to it on the back side, probably to reinforce the headboard. We think the foot rails were cut on each end to accommodate the change in size, so the modification is really not obvious at the foot of the bed. This is an early bed and therefore is not a modern standard size bed, and ... moreyou would probably need to have a mattress special ordered to fit it. The side rails are opposable screw in rails, and they do not fit very snugly anymore; with a little tightening/modification they would work fine. While it is in nice antique condition and the paint looks good, it is more than 150 years old and there are dings, scratches, and it does show wear commensurate with use. Antique Vintage Doll Bed Maple Rope Bed w/ Linens
Everything about these items is charming. The bed measures 10 1/2" wide. 9 1/8" high, and 16" long. The side-rails have been glued into the headboard(but not the foot-board) causing it to cant slightly inwards. The roping is not original. The mattress is home made but a recent addition. The pillows are vintage/antique to the bed and the pillowcases are most probably made from the sleeves of a woman's dress. Please note that both cases have foxing and the one has several areas where the fabric has pulled. The quilt measures 17" x 13 1/2" and is handmade but not hand sewn. The front side is in better condition than the back side. Which has several areas where the fabric has/is disintegrating due to age. ANTIQUE 18TH C. LOW-POST DOLL ROPE BED, ALL ORIGINAL, INCL. RED PAINT & ROPING
Found in New England. This wonderful antique low-post doll rope bed/bedstead is 18th century, circa 1740-1760. It is all original, including its wonderful dry, untouched red painted surface. The thin roping or jute, used to crisscross the center of the frame as the support, is also original. The bed is beautifully constructed. It has hand chamfering and notches on the posts. And the headboard is simple with nice detail. The frame has mortise and tenon joints. The bedstead measures 16 1/2" long x 11 1/2" wide x 9" high. It is in very good condition. With no repairs of any kind. It has the best patina, showing good honest age-appropriate wear. It is wobbly, as most rope beds are that need tightening, which I am mentioning just for accuracy. Here is his description: The solid cherry bed was made in the first half of the 1800's( ie;prior to 1850) It was given to my mother in 1912 for her 9th birthday.It is approximately full size bed 52" x 80" and originally had the rope lattice instead of a spring.The pegs for the rope lattice are there as shown in the photos.There is a custom made spring for the bed and custom mattress.The canopy frame is also solid cherry and there is a custom eyelet white cotton cover for the canopy and a skirt for the bed. Colonial Antique Rope Bed- double size- circa 1840 Very good antique condition; finish shows some signs of wear as shown in photos. Pick up only because of the size. Location is NW of Chicago. Illinois. Been in my family for about five generations. With each owner taking care to preserve its historical significance. My ancestors lived in the Columbus, Ohio, area and I believe the bed may have been made in Pennsylvania. This is a great purchase for anyone looking to showcase Colonial America with authenticity in their home. As best as I can figure from family history. This rope bed was constructed, prior to 1840, since it utilizes one of the earlier American methods for roping. The furniture maker bore holes in the rail frames to fasten the rope. This is probably the sturdiest method and caused less strain on the wood as opposed to a later ... moremethod that roped around pegs. Presently I have a double mattress directly on top of the roping which seems quite secure. Should you desire to switch out the rope. Suitable line is readily available at hardware stores, and specific directions are online. It's easy to retain the early American look in your home by using a down comforter as I have done. The bed is in a bedroom I have devoted to family history and has been well cared for and maintained. From my research I feel the uniqueness. Quality and condition set the value around $1,000. The grain decorating is mocha pottery like.blue and brown like the old stoneware. Bed is guaranteed old. It measures 12" long( a nice display size) by 8" wide and is 7" high. The head board and foot board measure 50 1/2 in's wide and the posts are 44 3/4 in's tall. The rails are 68 in's long. There is a thumb missing. One on the head board and one on the side rail. An authentic Early American maple wood Hired Mans or daybed made in the first quarter of the 19th century. This has finely turned tiger maple posts and rails with highly figured curly grain. The original rope seat support was upgraded to a very comfortable drop-in cushion built on a spring wood frame. The cushion is covered in mohair velvet and shows some wear. The only upholstery work required on this is perhaps replacing the mohair to the fabric of your preference. This measures 72 inches wide. 26 inches deep and the back is 28 inches high. GREAT ANTIQUE ROPE BED AT AN EVEN GREATER PRICE
This is a bed I purchased for my son many years ago. It is well worn but extremely sturdy and stable. The knobs/pegs for the ropes were not on the bed when we purchased it so we modified it to accept a standard double mattress. A piece of sturdy plywood sits on the wooden supports that have been attached to the bed frame. The plywood is included in this sale. The mattress rests on the full width of the bed to accept a standard double. Using the side rails as additional support. It could be used"as is" or refinished. The bed size is 72 in long by 54 in wide. The headboard is 34.5 in tall and the footboard is 25 in tall. I'm not sure of the type of wood used in the bed. Converted Antique Tall Walnut Rope Bed
Antique Primitive Tall Walnut Rope Bed Headboard and foot board posts are all 54" tall with square sections that are 3.5" wide. Headboard is made of one 22" wide board with an applied scroll across the back of the crest. Wood appears to be walnut. Posts are matching and have good mass and detail. Excellent shape for its age. I can find no breaks or repairs on the posts or turned rail and very few scratches or scuffs. Headboard has a scratch and some scuffs. The turned rail on the foot board has become loose and an old repair has failed causing it to"rack" The round pegged side rails are not present and have been replaced with more modern steel rails and hooks. Antique Full Size Rope Bed - sure looks like a torture tool - but is real
This full size antique rope bed has to go. It has seen better days. And shows signs of wear, and some cracks and wood chips missing on the legs- but structurally sound and complete. It is heavy and obviously big. Measures about 6' by 4 1/2' Pick up only. In viewing this I can only think of how it must have been used for torture- but somehow people really made it a bed. American Made Primitive Walnut Hired Man's Bed. 30" tall. 49 1/2" wide and 73" long. Has a great patina. Has not been cleaned so there is dust in the rope holes. sorry. The bed is held together by bolts so that the ropes can be inserted and tightened to your satisfaction. My young boys slept in this bed in an earlier house and earlier time in our lives. It now has to go as we are in a different period. I am estimating an additional $250 for packing and shipping costs.

Up for your consideration is a pair of rope bed tightner or rope wrenches. In 2 different forms. The first one is early American colonial period late 18th century. It's hand chiseled from oak and the handle, looks like a bird's tail. it measures 17 1/14" by 10 1/4" across. The second one is a T handle form(hard to find form) it has a maple handle and their still bark on it very rustic, the handle maple and it's also hand chisled. It measures 16" L by 10" wide.
