This bed has a shaped crest rail of gorgeous crotch mahogany, underneath the crest are three inset panels topped with Gothic style arches and half drop finials. Their are a couple of chips of missing mahogany on the headboard~see picture.The bed which was originally roped and still has the knobs. The solid cherry post are topped with flame finials. The measurements are 83 inches tall at post, 71 inches tall at headboard, 58 inches wide and 79 inches long. The mattress area is 72 inches long, and 51 inches wide. I think it was made sometime in the 1990's. It is made of what looks to be solid pine, and comes with removable finials. It is very heavy and sturdy. It is in good used condition, however, it does have a few splotchy spots and scratches with the majority being on the foot board and side rails. You are bidding on a 1930’s-40’s Full Size Four Poster Bed. Headboard, Footboard. These pieces belonged to my grandmother. I have been using these pieces myself until recently downsizing and redecorating. The finish of the headboard and footboard are the original. I am not sure of the wood description. I would say that it is either mahogany or cherry wood. The Headboard has some flaws on the insides of the legs(splintering) and some engineering has been put into place to hold the sideboard to the insides of the headboard with hardware to help with making it strong to hold mattress in place. It is a four poster bed, with slots for slats, of which there is only one. The bedding is very old also, it is a paisley pattern that is quilted, and there is a matching pillow, and another pillow with a pillowcase. The bed measures 12.5" long, a little over 9" wide, the tall post is 14" and the shorter ones are 10" The set has age related character wear and flaws, the bedspread is bare in spots, the lining of the spread is shattered, I believe the fabric is really really old. The bed has some issues also, the center post at the foot of the bed has a break in the middle, but it stays up, one of the slat holders is chipped, and Just general age ... morewear from use. From a large collection of antique doll quilts. This very rare 4 Poster Bed doll quilt dating to the 1830's stood out. The front is a Bars pattern with 3-1/4" wide HAND PIECED strips of paisley prints down the center and picket fence type design on the sides. The other strip is 1" wide in with a brown acorn print on faded red. The Patchwork back is HAND PIECED using 1-1/2" squares with tiny pink flowers on tan or a tan shirting print. The quilt is HAND QUILTED with diamonds@ 7 stitches per inch and has a thin batting. Measuring 19" wide and 16-1/2" high, the cut-outs for the poster leaves a piece 10" wide and 4" high. Fabulous PAIR antique 4-poster bed applique quilts, hand quilted @ 10 / 11 SPI *
Offered here without reserve is that absolutely fantastic PAIR of antique(ca 1920s) applique quilts formed for a 4-poster bed. All hand quilted with incredible skill and detail@ 10 to 11 stitches per inch. The two quilts are absolutely identical in form, measurement and condition. Each measures 99" long, 65 1/2" wide, 84" long not counting the foot board flap. The sole apology to both quilts is the wear to the binding- there are no rips, tears, stains or repairs. Hence, my pictures tell the whole story except to note that any variation you see in the pure white cotton background is due to poor lighting or shadows. So again, there is no reserve but buyer pays $16 for domestic USPS shipping.

It is double sided. The vast sampler of early fabrics are on both sides! It is lightly hand quilted at 5 stitches per inch. But there are only a couple of lines of quilting. No batting. It is completely hand sewn. Made for a poster bed with the cutouts at the bottom. It measures 71" x 77" This beauty is in amazing. Strong, clean condition. Of course, not perfect. There are a few small splits, and a few tiny surface holes, a couple of small age spots, and an early patch repair about 1" x 3/4" One fabric piece has two printer flaw lines(See photos.
