Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. The frame is quartersawn oak constructed with through tenons and dowels. And retains the original finish. The backrest can be removed. And has later added canvas straps to hold a pillow or cushion. The bed has the original box springs. That was originally covered in muslin or leather, but now is covered in fabric. This is made by L& JG Stickley and is#739. This is not signed ... moreand probably had a paper label. This dates to about 1910. ITEM MEASUREMENTS This measures: 76 1/2 in. long. 29 7/8 in. wide and is 25 5/8 in high. Above photo: removable backrest insert with canvas straps. Above photo shows the backrest removed and off to the right side of photo. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This old day bed is in fair condition but it could use a little restoration work. The mattress is the original box spring and there is a minor tear in the fabric, also it's missing the cushion for the headrest but other than that the wood work is in great condition, shown in photos. T he wood frame of the backrest insert has shrunk 1/8 inch over time and needs to be slightly trimmed on the edges to fit properly into the backrest area of the bed. Probably dating from the 1960s or‘70s. The size tells me it’s probably a modern-day queen-size bed, measuring 61 x 80 on the inside. I would appreciate any information on a maker or an era which this furniture was made. The bedroom set is beautifully hand crafted with solid oak and veneers. The joints are all dove tail and it appears everything is individually hand crafted not machine made as far as carved accents and engraved pieces. This will need restoration to become the masterpiece it once was. I think there is only a couple tiny pieces missing that can easily be crafted which I think are at the very end of bed in the center design. the flaked veneers should be there also but may need new veneer work in my opinion. the dressers are on wood casters. Wood& Brass Match Holder This exceptionally nice early match holder is made of oak with 12 panel carved design with brass tacking. A piece similar to this with far less detail work was refered to as a'Go To Bed' not sure of the reference. The top is a bit darker in color than the bottom but it fits tight with no cracks or breaks in either the top or bottom. The bottom of the bottom half has a very old/ original paper strike with some original sand still attached. It piece in total measures about 3" tall and 1 1/4" in diameter. There is one brass pin missing from the top most row. A great early piece that might be used as a sewing/ needle holder as well as a toothpick holder. 100 yr. Old Painted Desk We have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. This oak secretary or writing chest is absolutely wonderful and is so much more attractive in person than the pictures. Every authentic antique painted piece of furniture of this nature is original unique and of its own beauty and this one is no exception. Green color is rich and deeper green in person than with camera flash. The green is likely an old oil based enamel or lead paint. The top surface is glared in a couple pictures appearing a different color but it is the same green color as the rest of the cabinet. The paint is not flaking or pealing but is still very strong adhering all over. Loads of character and charm. The whole piece is solid as a brick and not rickety or wobbly. Drawers function well and door closes nicely. I particularly like the shaker style going narrower to the floor as seen in the side profile. The detail in curvature of the drawer fronts is unique as well. There has been no back on the cabinet for many years. I have seen hundreds of secretaries in my days but have never seen this particular style before. This little cabinet is simply divine and could be used in so many rooms of a home to suite your taste. 15588A Antique Unusual Oversized King Size French Oak Bed
This is a most unusual style pair of beds that came in on a French container. Which I believe were joined together in the factory to make an oversized king size bed. A normal full size bed is 54 x 75. The inside dimensions of this bed are 72 inches wide, and 78 inches long. It’s too wide to be a queen, which measures 60 x 80. We can make this into a king size bed, which is 80 x 80, for an additional $400. What this entails is putting in a center panel and center brace. This would look completely factory, and would be stunning. Or, you can buy it as is, and have a custom-made mattress fit to it. You can also split them up and use them as two odd-sized twins. Now, about the beds: They are beautiful, with unusual solid oak wreath carving of unblemished oak and berry carved crests on top. They have raised panel fronts, doubles on the headboard, ... morepicture frame molded panels on the footboard with picture frame molding underneath, little rosettes carved out of solid oak all through the front and back, and Hepplewhite style block legs. The footboards have diamond point mosaic panel inserted, with carved columns coming down the sides, and with the wreaths and tassels and all those carvings, it’s just a beautiful pair that would make a really nice-looking king bed. The size the way the beds are set up right now is 75.5 inches wide, 39 inches high at the footboard, and 57 inches high on the headboard. It’s finished in a medium oak stain, and the overall condition is great. The beds can also be taken apart to make the unusual sized twin beds, measuring 34 inches wide, by 77 inches long, if desired. I really hope that someone wants this as a king-size bed, because we love doing those up, and we do a great job! Not to mention the price, for which you cannot buy a king-size bed these days!
