They are made ... moreof cherry with a chocolate brown stain. Golden highlights are present as well. The pair have cabriole legs with carved. Acanthus leaves as well as ball and claw foot details. The apron sections are extremely detailed and ornate. They feature a carved/incised acanthus scroll and shell pattern which is present on all 4 sides. The tops are in a stepped design and are very thick. There is a recessed, window pane feature which is designed for a glass top. The tables are very nice. There are no manufacturer's marks but there is a patent sticker present. They are very sturdy though not exceptionally heavy. There are just a few and very minor nicks and slight scuffs which are not distracting and which can be resolved. The original glass is not present but should be very easy and inexpensive to replace. These are beautiful! Please note that we have the matching sofa table listed separately. The tables are rectangular and can be placed as you choose since the aprons are the same. They measure 21.5" tall. 21.75" wide and 27.75" long. The replacement glass needs to be approximately 17.25" x 23" Shipping via GREYHOUND to the station nearest you. Up for sale here is a very nice pair of antique 19th Century French Country figural cherub cast iron beds(Headboards and footboards only. NO rails or finials) The tops are cherubs. The middle panels are sheet steel. The panels appear to have been originally painted with a pattern. They present much better than my amateur photos. No rails or finials. One footboard top was cracked. But has been brazed(welded) back together. They have some rust. Panels have a hole or two near the bottoms. These are extremely rare beds. They would look great hanging on a wall, as garden gates, or repurposed as signs for your shop. Of course you could have some rail built and use them as they were originally intended. This has to be one of the most beautiful antique French chateau ciel de lit that I have ever found. This stunning antique French chateau bed canopy dates from around 1850 and is a wonderful period interiors piece that still has its original paintwork along with its original textile and passementerie trim. Perfect for any bed it could also be used over a day bed and I have seen them used with wonderful effect over a free standing bath. The couronne itself is a carved wooden piece that is soft gently distressed eau de nil. It is in superb condition and the front carved cartouche is a decadent acanthus leaf flourish. The paintwork is a wonderful period shade. There is a little rubbing at one side on a join but it does not detract. ... moreThe inner roof is still lined with saffron silk and the outer top has linen. The first layer of pelmet is a soft saffron gold silk that has the most wonderful frou frou ruffle at the ends in a slightly lighter shade. This is overlaid with a silk eau de nil macrame weave with a silk passementerie braid and fringe in co ordinating shades. This is then overlaid again with the most delicieux silk-covered beaded swags in saffron/ eau de nil/pale gold silk threads wound over wooden beads. Between each bead is a fine wooden silk covered open petalled flower. This was the highest quality of hand worked passementerie of its time and is a real regal touch. Some of the passementerie swag beads have come adrift but I do still have them and the new owner can have the pleasure of placing them wherever they feel best. The hanging rings are still on the top ready for the ciel de lit to be placed and the measurements are: WOODEN FRAME ONLY. Huge antique French piqué de cotton measuring about 96" x 80" This is perfectly hand sewn quilting. One side a a sunny golden yellow cotton satin and the other is made of 3 panels. 2 are a creamy yellow cotton and the middle piece matches the other side. Natural soft batting(probably wool)between the 2 coloured layers of cotton satin. As found. Well stored but it will need washing. A couple of stains and some wearing/minute holes on the brighter side, A beautiful slightly imperfect antique piqué de cotton. Like most piqué found nowadays. They have been loving passed down, patched and repaired on the way and are rarely perfect. It's the repairs and wearing which also make them so appealing. 3400g

You are bidding on a lovely old French boudoir bed doll who measures 26" tall. This is an old doll which may require a little"TLC" and or restoration. Reference shows similar made in the 1920s and 1930s by various French and German firms. I do not know her past history. And or what restorations were made, I will try to describe her the best I can. This is a composition shoulder head, with composition hands, fingers intact with cloth body. Body has"long" arms and"long" legs. Lovely face with painted black eyes, single stroke black brows and closed mouth. There is dark eye shadow over the eye lids. She wears red lipstick and blush on the cheeks. Some rubs and scratches throughout face may require a little restoration, up to you. I see no cracks on this shoulder head, marking on the back as shown in photos. ... moreBrunette mohair wig has off center part, sparse throughout the top and back, wear for being close to 100 or so years old. This auction is for an absolutely beautiful Marseilles/Marcella or Matelasse bedspread. This bedspread which I believe to be French is in EXCELLENT vintage condition. The fabric is a firm strong cotton. These bedspreads were inspired by the wonderful white needlework for which Marseilles and the region of Provence were known. The distinctive style involved creating intricate raised patterns by stuffing shapes stitched in between two pieces of fabric. Quilts made like this were expensive. Scarce and much admired imports in the English speaking world. In the mid 18th century, British weavers reproduced this effect on a loom and by the later 19th century bedspreads like this were widely available and known as Marcella counterpanes. If you read my simply chateau blogsite or my facebook page you will see that I have recently come home with a whole host of chateau textiles. I am currently sorting it through and I am starting to list what I can this week. Dating from the late 1880s this lavish antique French swagged chateau confection would have been used as a window pelmet or a bed canopy ciel de lit. It is a timeworn silk treasure that is full of faded grandeur. The inner frame is wooden that is all still good and strong. The front is embellished with rose pink damask silk swags. The silk has a stripe on damask and plain silk that catches the light beautifully and the floral design sits on the top of the stripes and features small flower blooms and scrolls. ... moreThe swags are trimmed with co ordinating passementerie braid with frothy tassel ends. The bar behind the swags is covered with more pleated damask silk in a chocolate tone that sits perfectly with the old rose swags. The underside is pleated rose pink cotton that again sits well with the two main colours. The top side which would not be seen is hessian covered. At the right hand side at the back there is a tail to match the swags. The one on the left hand side is long gone so this one could be removed so that it all matches. All of the textile is good and strong with no deterioration to the fibres. I have left this piece just as I found it. It is very dusty from the chateau attic and needs cleaning. It could be hoovered or it would be easy to detach the swags clean them and replace them. The floral hand embroidery work design flows along the turn down area of the bed sheet from the left side of the sheet to the right side of the sheet. This is a sturdy fabric and the bed sheet would be fabulous turned into a curtain. Hang this at your window with cafe clip and you will have a beautiful window dressing. The bed sheet's hand embroidery work features a beautiful hand stitched rose flower design in the center area of the sheet as well as a flower design in each of the bottom edges. The embroidered work has been done in a raised padded satin stitch and French knotted stitches along the turn down area of the sheet. The ladder work is up 26" from the bottom of the sheet. It would have been hung above a bed to create a decorative centre piece from which to hang drapes. It is made from brass and is semi circular in shape. The flat side fits to the wall and the curved side forms the decorative fascia. The brass is pierced with a beautiful design and three regal embellishments complete the ensemble. The top of the couronne has it's original satin. Now a gorgeous shade of tea rose and rather timeworn but easily replaced. Underneath is the same satin and there are hooks to hold the curtains and a brass bar to secure a pelmet. There are 2 holes on the back of the couronne for attaching to the wall. With a deep repousse brass surround and a large cartouche to its centre. It is still retaining its fabric roof which is( possibly toile de Nantes) with it muted raspberry background and a central vignette with two angelic looking children with hunting horns and two dogs on leads. And one by her side in close attendance… this vignette is surrounded by a mass of flowers, leaves and swags and two small birds hanging from hoops all in a white/grey colour. It is still retaining its original brass back bar for the wall drape. To the outer edge on each side there are small indentations of where the original hanging hooks would have been. Antique French c1890 bed curtain fabric Indienne drape w/ trim 9.58 feet long
~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ One of my very very favorite curtains. Ever!~ this gorgeous textile is an antique, French bed curtain panel that dates from the late 1800's. This textile is a masterpiece and uses all elements that make a textile spectacular, so well! The design is a gorgeous, large scale Indienne design, the colors are breathtaking, the quality of the fabric is wonderful and it has survived in beautiful, intact condition!~ this panel is made using a densely, finely woven cotton and linen blend( higher cotton content than linen) The colors include: off-white ground, turquoises, deep muted greens, antique pink, deep beige, blue, putty gray, and a wonderful muted gold tone. This fabric was printed using hand carved wooden blocks and I count a minimum of 8 that would have been needed to create this gorgeous fabric! The ... morefabric would have taken months to complete! The original trim runs up the left( facing) side and is a lovely deep red. The bottom is trimmed using the trim photographed in number 12) the fabric is a medium weight ~ the top is pleated in places and the ties that were used to tie the textile to the corona or bed are still intact at the top. This curtain is 100% hand stitched. Two long panels of the stunning fabric are hand seamed down the middle. The bottom is hemmed with a hand stitched hem. Truly, a spectacular find. This textile would be beautiful hung as a window( or windows! treatment, it would make a spectacular fabric for light upholstery, pillows, framing and many many other wonderful uses! ~ ~ ~( piece 110) ~ ~. MEASUREMENTS: This textile measures: 115 inches LONG( 9.58 feet long) by 62 inches wide at the bottom. At the top. Where it is pleated for hanging, it measures 44 inches wide. ~ CONDITION: I have gently hand washed this stunning textile. It is in extraordinarily wonderful condition. ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ A wonderful antique French textile that dates c1870. This lovely textile was once used as a bed surround. Pelmet. The front fabric on this texile is a gorgeous black ground, twill weave roller printed fabric with the most wonderful teal, pinks, taupe, red and a lovely fawn tone printing. The backing of this textile is a very finely woven linen cotton mix. This textile has the original trim that runs along the bottom with some of the bobbles still remaining( only on the right side) the remaining length on the left is missing all of the bobbles. Th etrim is a lovely natural cotton, chocolate brown and taupe woven trim. Near the middle of this textile begins a small red trim that is hand stitched in place and runs on the left side bottom, and up the left side! ~ Gorgeous hand stitching! ~*~ There is a panel ... moreof the lovely backing fabric that extends on the right side( photograph 8) This textile is 100% hand stitched and quilted. This stunning antique French textile would have once used as a bedding pelmet ~ it dates c1850 ~ it is simply gorgeous!~ The fabric used to make this stunning textile is a roller printed madder brown fabric and. I am not able to view the back of the fabric, but I believe it is also block printed. The backing on this stunning textile is the most beautiful woven, linen and cotton vichy check! ~ This pelmet is lightly quilted with a thin cotton batting in between the layers. Each edge is trimmed using the wonderful madder fabric. This textile is 100% hand stitched and hand quilted. The colors used on the front floral fabric are a very deep burgudy, soft purple madder tone, cream and dessert red. There are some little holes in the front fabric but the back, sheltered from the sun, is stunning. Just near the center of the middle scallop there ais a hole about one inch that has penetrated the backing.
