Antique 1800's Rope Bed, cherry, turned rails, Pennsylvania origin, great style
Bought many years ago in Pennsylvania Dutch countryside. A great condition rope bed. Very fancy turned railings on the head and foot boards. All of the rope pegs are intact. Appears to be hand carved. A pair of braces was added to the side rails to help hold it together. These can easily be removed. All wood- no nails used in construction, only pegs. Solid cherry- with some of the planking more than a foot wide. Very old- each corner has roman numerals scored in it to match the bed rails. A really great antique piece of history! Local pickup only

Details: An antique c.1840-1870 handmade solid walnut rope bed. The bed has been converted from being a rope bed. Holes plugged, and fitted with newer solid wood rails to accommodate a full-size mattress set. The headboard and footboard are identical in size and style. Each one is made using two walnut panels, topped by a rolling pin crest, flanked by low, solid posts that feature mushroom-cap finials. The finish is original. Showing age appropriate patina, more so to the footboard where the finish is lighter along the top due to blankets being hung over it for many years. The overall condition is very good, only issues to report are minor scuffs and an old split in one wood panel on the footboard, wood contracting? The split does not affect the stability of the bed at all, and I mention it only for accuracy. Antique Cast Iron Bed with Tapered Drop In Pin Cone Rails
This is an antique cast iron bed. It has a little rust but still extremely solid. It measures 43 inches by 6 feet and is 56 1/2 inches tall. It probably weighs over 100 pounds. The rails are original and use the tapered drop in cone type of assembly which is very convenient and well engineered because you don't need bolts. Antique 1800s Victorian Eastlake Carved Cherry Double Bed Head/Footboard Rails

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I have available an genuine period piece from the 1800s in this Eastlake style Victorian full size bed with headboard. Footboard and original rails in a cherry finish. Head and footboards are carved with a cut and pierced gallery finishing off the top of headboard. Wood is cut and layered on rails to produce the stepped detail on the ends. Bed fits a standard full size mattress 54" x 75" Pictured in bright sunlight and cloud cover. Bed is in overall very good condition. However, there are some signs of age on this 100 plus year old heirloom- there is some separation between the leg and body on the front right of footboard. Footboard is still very solid. There are also two spots on same leg on side where the wood must have been wet a one time ... moreas the finish color is lighter. There is also a long crack on the carved gallery on top of headboard and two of the six small gallery supports on back of headboard are missing. Gallery is solid and not loose or in danger of breaking. My guess is this crack has been there for many, many years. There are many small marks and scratches on legs. Many scratches on inside of headboard where hidden by bed. Please see all pics. Antique Bed Rails Pair of bed rails off a brass or iron bed. This pair features tapered pin ends. Your buying them"as found" They have not been cleaned and have heavy rust but are not rusted out. Dimensions: 74" long from tip to tip. Length not including pins is 72 1/4" The pins are 1 3/4" tall, 15/16" wide at the top and taper down to 3/4" wide at the bottom and they protrude outward 7/8" at the top and 3/4" at the bottom. Shipping weight is apx 25lbs. Condition: Rusty but solid. One has a bend in it and one tip has a chip on the shoulder. See pictures. Please email with any questions.
