It includes the original rails(hard to come by) The bed was professionally polished about 30 years ago. But there are some areas that definitely need redone(I took tons of pics) The mattress is NOT included. In good vintage condition with some signs of age(a few dents and dings) Also a few areas with corrosion. Vintage solid iron bed rails with the hook style. At least that is what I call them, I mainly see them used on wood beds but a possibility they may be used on iron beds, not sure! It's painted black; not sure how long that paint has been on. But there are some rusted spots over the paint so it's been on for quite a while, if not original. The rails slip into the end board pieces and it's very easy to put together. It may take a few taps with a hammer to get it in all the way. One of the sides has a small chunk out of the piece that the rail slips into, but once it's in there, it stays in place. It would be an easy repair. This bed is a mid-19th century continental bird’s eye maple and parcel gilt bedstead w/carved decoration and paneled centre flanked by turned columns on bun feet. The headboard is intricately carved with a central carving and monogram of what looks like a stylized“M” and“S” This is flanked by“waves” of gilded carving. The headboard is decorated with two twisted columns with topped by carved and gilded Corinthian capitels. The same motifs are repeated on the footboard. All of the carving is of very high quality. The bed is in perfect condition in the sense that it is not warped or cracked or split and has been professionally renovated and cleaned up. There is wear on the gilt. Which is normal with age and contributes to the patina. In that sense. The bed is not“mint. Pair Antique Iron Bed Rails Rectangular Shape Tapered Drop In Pins Painted White
You are bidding on a pair of antique iron bed rails. These rails have rectangular shaped. Tapered drop in end pins. The rails have had the remnants of the old finish removed, along with the corrosion. They then were primered and painted with a good quality flat white paint. They each measure 74" long overall including the pins. The drop-in pins, are ¾" long, 7/8" wide at the top. Tapering to ¾" wide at the bottom. They weigh 8 pounds each unpackaged. Up for sale is a nice set of bed rails that were used with old iron beds and brass beds. They have the cone shaped end that many old beds had. They show a little difference in wear as seen in last 2 pictures. But the measurements are basically the same. 73-1/2" on one rail and 73-9/16" on the other(pic#2) The cone itself is 1-5/8" tall, top diameter is 7/8" and the bottom is 3/4" It projects 3/4" from square base. They are clean and straight. There are two drilled holes in one of them. But doesn't affect their function. I know that a fraction of an inch can make a difference how they fit so they may need a little tweaking( shimming or sanding) to fit your bed. Please be sure they will work for you before buying.
