C. 1920s. The clock is encased in a sienna& black marble pyramidal case, flanked by two matching marble tazza. It is in exceptional condition, free of chips, cracks, or restorations. The exception is what appears to be a minor(1/4" area in the back where the marble is not smooth. This appears to be an inclusion in the marble, and not damage. The is some(age-appropriate) wear to the clock face. The pendulum is affixed inside, and appears to work properly, but I do not have a key. The clock case is signed"S. Gonthiez. Denain(France) It measures 12.5" wide, 9" tall. and 5" deep. The garnitures are 6.5" tall, and 4.75" in diameter. I have not tested the movement. And can make no guarantee about the works. Offered here is a wonderful 3 piece ornate garniture set consisting of a mantel clock and 2 matching candelabras by Imperial of Italy. This Louis XVI style lyre shaped clock is solid brass with green marble and bronze colored ormolu satyr cherub figurines. Brass garland, claw feet and scroll motifs with rooster heads. The corresponding candelabras have 6 lights around a taller center light with similar treatment. The key wind all brass 8 day movement is a German Franz Hermle 130-070 balance wheel system with 2 brass bell chimes. It is running well. Keeps good time and chimes properly. There is no damage to report and the condition is excellent. The brass is bright. The ... moremarble is clean and glossy, and the ormolu figurines have a nice vintage patina look. There are one or two candelabra lights that are not completely vertical in their orientation. But not severe. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs to the brass, marble or figurines and there are no broken or missing parts. The movement has a date code indicating this set was manufactured in 1995. All pieces have markings of a B or"Brevettato" a model number( and a foil paper label reading Made In Italy(see pics) The clock measures 24" tall to the finial x 14" wide x 7 1/2" deep. The candelabras also stand 24" tall to the top candle holder and the diameter of the 6 arms is about 11" This is a heavy set(about 40 lbs) and may need to ship in multiple cartons. Antique Marble Clock on Wooden Base-Made in Germany-Early 20th Century?
This is an original vintage clock made primarily of marble(I think) surrounding the clock workings and on a wooden painted base. There is a mother of pearl type cover to the center of the Roman Numerals on the dial. Also. There is a key that allows you to wind the clock at a hole in the face- it is like an old skate key and winds to the left. It does work and keeps time, losing about 5 minutes or so every couple days. I could find only one marking on the clock that says"MADE IN GERMANY" in tiny print on the metal rim below the Roman Numeral VI inside the glass face. The size is 15" long(base) by 9-1/2" tall and 5-1/2" wide(base) It is very heavy weighing over 10 pounds. The look of this clock makes me think it is from the Art Deco period but I cannot substantiate this other than via my instincts. Here is a truly elegant French clock with great style and quality. It combines superb gilt bronze figures with a white marble base and a blue& white porcelain column which houses the fine small movement. This clock stands just under 14 inches high. The dial is 3 inches across. The pictures suggest. But do not fully show, the high quality of the bronze castings. T h e movement has be e n running well. With salmon pink and silver grey veining, mounted with finely finished ormolu(gilded brass/bronze) It is classical in style, to the top is a large and flamboyant figure of an eagle, and to each side a beautifully depicted Greek Sphinx, all beautifully modelled and chased. The movement is mounted within the four glass case, allowing both the movement and the mercury compensated pendulum to be seen working. The side urns are equally large and well finished. A large specimen marble'cup' is held aloft on three elegantly designed legs ... moreof ormolu with hairy paw feet and eagle capitals. The dial is cream enamel on copper with delicately painted floral swags between the numerals and finely fretted gilt brass hands. This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Included are the two original urns for the clock, there is some stress damage to the bottom most and top most metal pieces from 120+ years of being used, but there solid(See pictures) You usually do not see the original garnets with one of these clocks, most of the ... moretime during the years the clock becomes separated with it's urns, or the urns get destroyed. Candelabras have one and three screws missing, respectively. One candelabra lacks a rosette mount to block corner of the base. One bobeche liner has been replaced. At the top of this 4 ¾ inch wide by 9 inch long by 30 ¾ inch tall French Marble and Bronze Mantle Clock is a miniature casting ... moreof a bird. All the marble columns. Finials and the base are in perfect condition with no restorations. The bronze fittings and the ormolu are also perfect. There is a tiny damage to the hand painted enamel face just to the right of the number“6. I didn’t notice is at first, but one of the black feet is a replacement. The rest of the enamel face and the fancy gilt hands are perfect with no restorations. Both springs are in very good, strong condition and this clock is trying to rum without the pendulum attached. When I tried to attach t pendelum I noticed that the thin spring piece of metal that holds the pendulum to the clock is out of kilter. If this little piece is adjusted properly, I guarantee this clock will keep good time once again. There are no other problems or any restorations to this late 19 th century French marble and bronze Mantle Clock. This clock is in magnificent condition for it's age of(130) plus years old.This clock appears to be in good working condition. The clock is keeping correct time for the period that I've tested it. The face of the clock shows some very minor wear with a chip. But doesn't take away from it's beauty. The Marble case is in good condition. W/ the exception of some small minor chips and a piece of marble missing on the lower left side(see pic's) Porcelain Dial.Time& Strike.Pendulum are all there(pendulum does not seem to tighten up on rod) As well as the key. This Clock is made by Sessions and is marked Model"W" In back. The clock is Gorgeous! It features a 10"x 3" x 1" thick marble base and a 7" diameter(3/4" thick) marble disc around the clock works. There are 2 round ball marble pieces on both sides of the clock. The balls are about 1.5" in diameter. The white marble has some reddish brown streaks. The base has a felt backing to protect the surface of the mantle. The clock face is metal gray with gold tone numbers. Black hands, and a red sweep second hand. It’s estimated to have been made in the early 20 th century. The round dial is marble. All the Roman numerals are porcelain. Surrounded by brass. The hour and minute hands. As well as the center plate that holds them, are solid brass. The background that surrounds the dial is a di-cut brass plate with a flower pattern. The bottom of the frame is wood. The original movement is no longer there. This is my project clock. I’ve tried to find a movement. But it’s been sitting here for many years. Will let the new owner hunt for a movement.
