The clock has a black slate/marble chapter ring dial with Roman numerals, protected by a bevel-glazed hinged door. The dial is in great condition. It features a French 8-day bell striking movement with an anchor escapement. The movement strikes the bell once on the half-hour and counts the hours on the hour. The movement is very clean, recently serviced, in full working order, keeping good time, and striking as it should. The clock measures 10" high, 17" wide, and 6" deep. This is a genuine original antique clock dating from circa 1850-1880.

A most exquisite original ... moreantique French clock by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is finely modelled in ormolu(finely gilded bronze) Beautifully finished and in stunning original condition. It is mounted with Sevres style porcelain. Each piece is signed faintly on the reverse by the artist. It is decorated with a pompadour rose pink background, the panel below the dial is delicately painted with a scene of a young couple in a country scene with panels of floral swags to each side. The dial itself is decorated with a cherub with a pair of laurel wreaths, an allegory for success. It is lettered in white cartouches against the pink background with turquoise coloured enamel'jewel' half-hour markers. This is a stunning clock, fine ormolu rather then the usual gilt spelter and very original, unusually the case is stamped with the movement's serial number. The dial is mounted in a gilded drum with a pink porcelain urn above. This is decorated with floral swags and ormolu handles. Laurel swags hang below the dial. The original gesso base is covered with pink velvet. It bears a number that is one less then that of the clock, however it is a perfect fit and therefore we think this is an original numbering error. The rear door is glazed with convex frosted glass. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glazed bezel over the dial) The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the backplate. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. The movement is fitted with the superior rack striking system. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! On the back of the face is penciled dates and names of when the clock was serviced which include 1899, 1901, and 1920. Up for auction is a rather rare German Art Deco Machine Age mantel clock. Circa 1920-30. Dimensions are approximately: W- 12.5" H- 10.5" D- 5.5" Maker: Unknown. The manufacturer is not label on the mechanism or case. Mechanism: The clock has an 8-day time and strike spring driven mechanism. The mechanism looks fairly clean and is in working order. The clock strikes once on the half hour and the number on the hour. The pendulum is a replacement. The case: The case is comprised of 2 different woods. Oak and I believe rosewood. Someone told me the base was teak, but I don't believe its accurate information. The case still has the original finish. Enamel dials and the case is glazed(glass) on the sides/rear. The c lock's movement operates properly and the clock is in excellent condition. The 14 day movement strikes the hours and half hours on a bell with a Brocot dead beat escapement visible through the upper dial and a compensated pendulum of brass and steel peculiar to Ellicott's design. The gilt engraved dial mask; the upper white enamel dial with blue steel'Breguet' style hands and Roman chapter ring; the lower perpetual calendar showing: day. Date, month, equation of time, and moon phase. The numbers on the calendar dial around the inner circle indicate the difference between solar and mean time. Which shows ... morethe'equation of time' This allowed people to set their clocks by using their sundials. The movement signed'Cromey. Bristol' and numbered 31945. The calendar movement numbered 31756. The case is glazed on three sides and open to the front; multi-colored gold ormolu on a white marble base; surmounted by a'ruffled pigeon' numbered 39703. William Cromey is listed in Britten’s as a clockmaker and jeweler in Bristol. 1842. As with many French clocks in the 19th century they were made in France but sold in England. This clock is a highly attractive piece because of the detailed carving work that has been performed in the wooden box. And the profusion of metal marquetry motives that make such a nice contrast with the brownish color of the wood. The clock works perfectly and chimes the hours and the halves, and is very good condition too. The wood is protected by a warm finish that enhances its color and veneer, providing it with a wonderful satin glow. The 8 days Paris clock’s movement has been fully fine-tuned to guarantee a good working order. At the back of the box there is a small door that lets us reach the mentioned movement. It is a pendulum clock made of polychrome calamine: the color and finish are the original, having been cleaned and restored by a professional polychrome restorer, to show in all its glory. The color came under a layer of dirt that was covering all the piece. The clock has an 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves– it has also been cleansed and tuned to guarantee a perfect working order. The design is in line with the Art Nouveau style, a movement that thrived mainly in decorative arts. The clock’s base is composed of two connected small pedestals on which two symmetrical figures stand. Baden-Würtenberg(Germany) by Erhand Junghans who in 1862 opened a factory named Junghans and Tobler in partnership with his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler. The company has produced all kind of clocks and watches, from wall clocks to wristwatch and also mantel clocks like the one we can see in these images. This clock’s box is made of solid wood and its design imitates a classic house. With gabled roof and side columns. The wood shows a deep veneer and a beautiful dark red color with a well preserved finish. The face is made of golden metal and white porcelain with nice black Arab numbers. It is framed by four golden metal detains, one in each corner, that create complicate volutes. At the back of the clock there is a door that lets us reach the movement: it keeps all its original component parts and works like new. Up for auction is a wonderful Dutch/Holland Regency Style(3) Three Melody 1/4 Hour Spring Driven Chime Mantel/Shelf Clock. Circa 1950-70. Dimensions are approximately: H- 11" W- 9" D- 7" The Case: The burled veneer case is in excellent physical condition. There are no breaks. Cracks or chips to the burled veneer. There are a few slight imperfections that I can barely see to the case, please see the photos. The Dial: The dial/lunar calendar dial is in excellent physical condition. There are no scratches. Smudges, worn areas, etc. that I can see to it. The Hands: The original hands are in excellent physical condition. The Glass: The original glass is clean and scratch/chip free.
