The putti are taking birds from the nest at their feet. The open cage sits next to them. The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. I hung the pendulum where I thought it should go and the clock did not run very long. Please email me if you have any specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. SIZE: The clock is 12.75 inches tall. And approximately 13.5 inches wide. It weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. The clock face is just under 3.5 inches diameter. CONDITION: There are some rubs and tarnish to the finish. I haven't tried cleaning the clock. I don't see any repairs or damage. In the photos. You can see what looks like some"separations" in the metal but it is not damage- some pieces were cast separately. Please see the close up pictures for the best description of the cosmetic condition. First the damage or missing parts: One hand is missing(photo) There is no key to the clock.There is a piece missing next to the girls feet(about 1 1/2" x 1"Photo) By her right foot you will see a fan looking decoration-it is missing to the right side of the base where it should be(photo) The back of both legs each have minor nicks in them but not the sides of the leg's(photo) In one photo you will see what appears to be a branch with leaves to the right of the dial.I put it in place for the purpose of the photo. It appears in one photo unattached. It just needs to be attached and it would look good.The glass and frame are missing that cover the dial. There is a chip(s) next to the numeral III on the dial where it has been worn over the years due to winding(photo) I do not see anything else that is a problem. Clock is 12 1/2" ... moretall. 11" wide and about 5" deep. There is no damage to the girl or anything else. The cover for the back as well as the piece for the hammer to strike are present. I removed the works from the clock and found that they do work very well if the pendulum is not in place. With the pendulum attached the clock will work for about 15 to 20 seconds. Without the pendulum they work just fine. If this piece was cleaned and balanced as needed I see no reason why it would not keep good time. The striker does work. I see no indication of any damage internally to the works. On the inside of the dial frame stamped in the metal is' 890* on the back plate appears'A*M and 890 5*5(photo)the pieces match. It's a nice example of this model. The mahogany case is in good shape for it's age and still retains the original finish. Most everything on this clock appears to be original too, including the painted dial, hands, bezel, glasses and makers label. This model has gilt lines around the case that have become worn in a couple ... morespots near the lower door.The signed 8 day time only movement is also original to the case. Upon inspection, it appears that the movement was recently cleaned but the previous owner. I oiled the mainspring and all pivots. It is running very well and keeping good time. I will note that the escape wheel pivot is showing some wear. It is not effecting the running of the clock but may need to be addressed in the future.About 21" tall by 14" wide. Antique HENRY MARC FRENCH Ormolu SEVRES Porcelain PUTTI CLOCK Cherub Brass Gilt Offered for sale is this beautiful antique French gilt metal clock. It was made by Henry Marc of Paris. The putti are taking birds from the nest at their feet. The open cage sits next to them. The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. SIZE: The clock is 12.75 inches tall. And approximately 13.5 inches wide. It weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. The clock face is just under 3.5 inches diameter. From a local estate. This wonderfully ornate mantle clock was manufactured in the early part of the century by the New Haven Clock Company in New Haven, CT. The clock stands approximately 10 1/2" tall with a 4 1/2" base. In the Art Nouveau style that was popular at the time, the heavy metal gilt case features a highly detailed design with a cherub or cupid holding a laurel wreath finial. The clock itself has a glass covering over the white face, which has some light brown stains(see photos) It does tick when wound and seems to keep time. The clock case was made by Ph Mourey in 1867, and the movement is stamped"Paris B& H" Little is known about Ph Mourey as a sculptor. But he designed his own clock cases, and added movements to them(usually Japy Freres) He also dated them accurately, often down to the exact month of manufacture. This clock pre-dates the implementation of the monthly dating system, but offers some assurance that the 1867 date is accurate. Antique French Gilt Bronze Clock w Cockerel. Jewels Antique gilt bronze mantel clock. Made in France, 19th century. Measurements: approximately 7 1/2 inches high. A little over 4 1/8 inches accross the front of the base. The case stands on 4 turned gilded legs. Base of white marble with an inset row of ormolu scrolls in the front. Rectangular steps. Tapering towards a marvellous cockerel/ rooster finial. The rooster being a symbol of France, this clock would have some French significance. Golden gadrooning around the base and at different levels. The front with fantastic applied ormolu flowers and foliage surrounding a protruding ring of paste'diamond' gems which enclose the dial. Above, casket like dome surmounted with the cockerel. Excellent modelling with fine detail of feathers and musculature and one can almost feel him rustling ... morehis tail and crowing. Sides of case are fluted. The dial is Classic French mastery and beauty: white enamel with the numerals. Both Roman and Arab(for the hours and the minutes) in dark, cobalt blue. They are surrounded on the inside by a ring of flower swags- exquisitely enamelled in minute detail. The hands of the dial are also quite lovely- very fine gilt openwork. The mechanism of the clock can be seen behind a glass door. We do not have a key. Nor are we clock experts, but I believe that this clock can be put to work with very little effort because when I moved it, I heard a constant tick tock. Candelabra are modelled as a dragon holding the three branches as a burning torch é. The modelling of the dragons is particularly well executed. It is an English made case and candelabra. Superbly modelled, finished and gilded. The movement is the highest quality square plate Pendule De Paris movement. Sourced from France by Swindens with their Paris mark on the ... morebackplate, an English movement would have been too large to fit the design. There is a diamond registration mark, issued by the British Patent office, on both candelabra dating the design to 1877. The large dial is also bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands. The French movement is of the highest quality and is fitted with a pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It is the square plated version of the Pendule De Pari s design with four pillars and heavy plates. The Swinden& Sons mark is on the backplate. Selling is an antique French late 19th Century figural clock. The clock features a boy sitting on top holding a sickle in one hand and a creel in the other. The clock is ornate with swirls and flowers.The clock is made of brass and spelter. The face of the clock is white porcelain with black Roman numerals and black hands. The clock has a pendulum. Bell and key. The clock is running and keep time but the bell is not working. The clock measures a little over 12" tall and 10" wide. There is a crack in te metal on one side(see photo) and a left has been repaired. This clock is selling with a gold and green velvet ornate wood stand. The piece together weighs almost 6 pounds. I've owned this clock for a long time and always hoped to make whatever repairs it needs at some point but I simply don't have the time any longer.wish I did. It is a spectacular clock and frankly. Were it not for the cause listed below, it would remain our home; no doubt about it. This is a Japy Freres clock that was created in Paris France about 80 years ago. The clock case is made of gilded metal and depicts a hunter theme complete with the hunter, his bugle, and rifle, game, and an equally impressive Victorian lady to the right of the clock mechanism; very nice! ... moreI've never seen another like it nor is it likely I ever will again. The attention to detail is simply breathtaking! The enamel metal dial has a white backdrop and features black Roman numerals to mark the hours and metal hands to point out the time. There are two winding arbors on the dial as well as a fast/slow adjustment peg at the very top. The back is open and the mechanical, key wind, pendulum movement is intact inside. The movement works too and does keep time but just for a minute or two.sometimes longer but it eventually stops. The winding springs are fine, wind well, and are not broken that I can tell. It probably needs an adjustment or servicing and like I said, I wish I had the time. The clock chimes a single bell chime at the bottom of each hour and correctly chimes the current number of hours at the top of each hour. The clock comes complete as shown with a metal pendulum and winding key. Once it's repaired, remember, this is a very old clock so service it at least once every three years. Doing so will make a family heirloom of this unique clock. I've looked the clock over fairly well and find a few pieces that are chipped, a few missing pieces(I think)

DESCRIPTION Up for auction is a lovely Syroco 8-day wind-up wall clock with key. It's 21 inches tall and 11 inches wide. Plastic face cover opens easily for access to the winding mechanism. Key turns easily. Only problem is it runs slow. So some sort of adjustment is in order. After winding it one day, it was about 2-3 minutes slow by day's end. This Sèvres and gold-gilt bronze clock stands 22 inches high. 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep near its base. It has been on my mantel for about fifteen years and adds incredible beauty to my dining room. The clock uses a S. Marti et Cie. mechanism which dates between 1867 and 1889. The clock has been checked and lightly cleaned by a professional clock maker and is in excellent and accurate working condition. MECHANISM- The clock has an 8-day bell-striking movement which is stamped“ S. Marti et Cie” in the center with“ Medaille de Bronze” in a circle around it. Samuel Marti was awarded ... morethe Bronze Medal in 1860. The mechanism and the pendulum have the same serioal number. Samuel Marti et Cie was a well known clock maker in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. The Medaille de Bronze stamp was used during the period 1867– 1889. Clock has its original pendulum and key. PORCELAIN- The detail of a cherub on the porcelain face is very detailed and in excellent condition. The face and hands are original. There is a Sevres mark under the lid but it would requiring disassembling in order to get a good photo of it. It is the crossed“L’s” with“S” inside. Similar to Kovel’s Dictionary of Marks. Page 226. This mark was used starting in 1771 and into the second half of the 1800’s. ORMOLU- The ormolu is magnificent and very detailed. The metal is solid bronze with heavy gold gilt. There is some slight“greening” at the joints which is barely noticeable unless you are looking for it. Owner purchased the clock from an antique dealer in 1998 for $3.150. This is an absolutely stunning French repeater carriage clock. By a famous maker Brunelot(mark: B" in a circle. This clock has the front. Two sides and the top covered in champlevé enamel and gilt brass. The enamel roman numerals are very intricately hand-painted and the front and back are protected by beveled glass. It is classical in style. Modelled in gilt brass and featuring a large urn to the top with acanthus handles with a laurel swag between. A stylised pineapple final sits on top. To the sides are embossed panels of urns surrounded by stylised foliage. The front is polished and mounted with 1/4 spandrels and the clock sits upon hairy paw feet. Candelabra are conforming in style with 3 lights with two arms of acanthus and snuffers that sit in the central nozzle as finials when not in use. The dial is also gilt brass with 12 individual enamel cartouches. It is unusual in having a large cream enamel cartouche to the centre. It is complete with original blued steel ... morehands and convex glass fitted to the egg and dart moulded bezel. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The French movement is by Japy Freres of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Included are the two original urns for the clock, there is some stress damage to the bottom most and top most metal pieces from 120+ years of being used, but there solid(See pictures) You usually do not see the original garnets with one of these clocks, most of the ... moretime during the years the clock becomes separated with it's urns, or the urns get destroyed. But these are the original matches to this clock, both marked underneath in the marble with the phrase"Made in France" in the same writing as the clock. In gilt bronze with bleu turquin marble. Produced in Paris in the late 19th century, enamel dial signed"Ch. Gautier/ Ft de Bronzes/ Paris-Bordeaux" Removal of one bronze mount reveals the engraved mark"C+P" in the bronze. Clock measures 22.2 in(56.5 cm) tall. Overall condition is good. Candelabras have one and three screws missing, respectively. One candelabra lacks a rosette mount to block corner of the base. One bobeche liner has been replaced. Overall there are nicks and surface scratches to the bronze, rubbing and oxidation discoloration, consistent with age. Key is missing, but of course may be replaced easily. A stunning antique french mantle clock produced by famous silversmith A. Risler and Carre. This is the only mantel clock that I can find any record of made by A. Risler and Carre. I'm sure there must be another one out there. But I can't track it down. The clock is in full working order with original key and is an 8 day mechanical specimen. The clock is fully marked by A. Risler and Carre and also features the french minerve as can be seen in the pictures provided(the minerve is hard to make out- it is displayed after the makers mark picture in the picture gallery) A. Risler and Carre produced many works between 1899 and 1910 all of which are highly sought after items to any collector. The Clock has its original quality movement which is signed by the fine period French maker “Japy Freres”. When I picked up the clock at the estate is was in good working order. And rings on the half and full hours. To be safe for the auction I will assume the clock may need a servicing or light cleaning to keep perfect time, which I am sure has not been done in some time. The Clock itself is in very fine condition showing very light wear to the panels, and no chips, cracks, missing pieces, or repairs. A clock in a similar motif(gilt bronze lion. Green varigated marble, etc. with bronzework by the French artist Ch. Aubert) is currently for sale on a UK website for $5,000. The bronze figure of a lion attacking a serpent is after the original bronze on display at the Louvre. The lion represents the French monarch Louis Philippe in his battle against evil. The marble portions of the clock are in excellent antique condition. The bronzework is well patinated and very pretty. It is signed by the artist Ch. Aubert. It features finely cast panels with primarily floral motifs. Barley twist columns, neoclassical motifs including anthemion and acanthus leaves, and the figures of exotic birds and extensive blue enamel jewels in the Islamic style. Measures 16.8 x 9.2 x 7.5 inches. Modern key included and the movement is in working order. Overall condition is very good. There are obvious losses to the enamel beading on each side. We are offering a spectacular 19th Century Limoge Clock with Garniture. This fantastic set done blue with handpainted Limoge plaques against a Dore Bronze Clock with a pair of 5 light candleobras. The clock by H. Jourdan. The candleobras are spectacular in their own right. Each with handpainted blue plaques. The sizes of the clock are 17 inches in height. 9 inches in width and 4 inches in depth. The candleobras are 16 1/4 inches in height. The bronze casings are all signed D. Rotter.

ANTIQUE CLOCK: French Ormolu Case. Gilt Bronze, 1800's. Great Patina,New Movement This is a wonderful Antique French Clock in the Rococo Revival Style. The case is fine ormolu. Mercury gilded bronze. I believe it dates to the 1800's. It has been fitted with a new movement and keeps perfect time. Very often these fine cases were made in France to be exported and sold in the United States. I believe this is the case with this particular clock. As it came from the estate sale of the scion of an old and prosperous Boston family. It is extremely well modeled and cast. Featuring design elements on all four sides. At first glance. These decorations seem to be symmetrical. But they are not. For example. The foliage on the front surrounding the central scallop shell is slightly different from side to side. This is true of all of the foliage ... moredecorations on all four sides of the case. This slight variation from side to side avoids the static effect of absolute symmetry, which can be deadening, even in decorative objects such as this fine clock. At the very top is a wonderful finial. Also asymmetrical, featuring what looks like a Tulip blossom. This rests on a neo-classical, fluted Doric capital. This clock is rather large. Measuring 14 1/4 inches tall, 9 3/8 inches wide at the bottom of the front feet and 4 3/4 inches deep between the front and back feet. There is no damage to this clock at all; it stands straight and secure. Some purists lament the fact that I sometimes place new movements in these beautiful old clock cases. But. As is often the case, the original movement of this clock was broken and corroded beyond all hope of repair. So my thinking is that with the new movement, this beautiful object can be returned to its functional purpose; that is, to tell the time. Which is does perfectly and beautifully. This clock has all of the charm and beauty of a 19th Century Antique Clock without any of the troublesome concerns often associated with such. And it never needs winding. I will.
