The back measures 7" diameter. No idea if it works but I am fairly sure it will by how great it looks but I have no key to test it. The hour hand is missing a tiny bit of paint. Please see all photos below text. This is a vintage Junghans Brass Clock. This is a German made clock that originally worked on a 1.5 V Dry Cell battery. When they stopped making the batteries. Some were converted to use one C battery. All the writing on the conversion kit is in German, and probably a factory conversion. Don't know exactly when this was manufactured. This clock works perfectly. I had it on my kitchen table for three days next to my atomic clock in the last photo. atomic clock not included. The only difference in the time shown on the clocks was the accuracy of the one I am selling. My atomic clock does not show seconds and the Junghans does. It must be perfectly leveled from side to side and front to back. And if you do this it will keep perfect time. The glass and face are in very good condition. The only flaw is that ... moresomeone painted the outer rim of brass base gold instead of polishing it, and that can be corrected. This is truly a magnificent Schneider Clock from France. It is ball shaped in cut crystal. The crystal piece has a brass edging around the opening for the clock. The clock has bezeled brass frame that sparkles. It has roman numerals. The face says Schneider on top. The bottom says 8 ancre 11 Rubis It is a wind-up that works perfectly. The back of the clock is stamped France. It lifts out of the crystal holder easily to wind up. It is heavy fine crystal that weighs 1 1/4 pounds. The clock is from the 1940's or 50's. A cherub figure stands on the left side of the clock. His little left arm has a tiny hairline crack on the underside; no other noticed cracks. Made circa 1900. Clock face has no glass cover. One hand is missing. There is a small hairline crack that is stained on the face, hardly noticeable. The clock measures 9 1/2" tall. Base is 5" across. Since I do not use this I've decided to sell as well as some of her other items(time permitting) I'm not sure exact dates but estimate this is mid century vintage. It's done in a very soft red leather over the case and is the folding travel alarm clock. On dial the clocks maker Name is"JUNGHAMS" and at bottom edge of dial under 6 reads"MADE IN GERMANY" The clock folds and collapses fine and the latch opens and closes fine. Even has the original plastic covering on the top and bottom insides that protect the original fabric. It's all original and no repairs or restorations. I've wound the clock up and it keeps perfect time. I did notice the arm for setting the alarm does have about a 1/2 hour or so delay from the time it is set and when actual time alarm goes off but you can adjust the alarm dial to fix or just set alarm the 1/2 hour or so difference earlier than what time you want it to go off. Imagine it should be easy for a clock person to adjust the setting to syncronize the time alarm goes off with the actual alarm setting. Very good condition and no major damages. This came from a Doctor's Office. I bought this at an estate auction. This is really a great peice of engineering history with great patina. The wormy Chestnut is a really nice conversation piece. I believe this is a reproduction of early water clocks from Chapman. It does say"Made in Italy. I have read that the first water clocks were made to limit attorney's from talking too long in Asia. Clock is in good condition. It does tick when you wind it. It looks though as the second dial has come off. I'm not sure about the barometer as I don't know how those work. The clocks are 5 1/2 an inch each, the stand is about 18 inches wide. The clocks are around 7 inches tall when on the stand. No glass over the barometer. They look in very good condition, only some general wear. See pictures. They are very heavy duty. Cased in brass. It has 3 holes on the back of each to screw into a wall or mounting area. Each one weighs around 10 lbs, 20lbs together. The clock does ring a bell every so often. Usually at the half hour mark. I know it is supposed to ring around the time that ships crew were supposed to change shift and I think it is pretty close to what that is supposed to be, only I am not sure of the times it chimed for the schedule. ... moreWhen you wind it the clock will keep going for quite some time. One wind did well over 24 hours and going on to 48 hours. Not sure how much longer it goes as I can't just sit and observe it. If you look on the Chelsea website you can see that even the smaller new version of this is around 3.000$. Each 6 inch(closest size to it) is selling for 2,400$ each one in brass. The barometer 900$ each in brass.

I went to a local Portuguese clock dealer about a month ago to get this appraised who used to sell these clocks about the time when I received this one. He told me the price range they were selling these were between $250- $300. This is a great deal. Up for bid is an very ornate brass mantle clock which was made in either Portugal or Germany. Exact origin is unknown but I tend to think more Portugal then Germany due to the stamp impression.This was given as a wedding gift to me in 1992. It has been in storage for the last 20+ years. It has an electric Junghans W737 made in Germany quartz clock. Never had a battery in it until now just to confirm that it indeed does work. Takes one AA battery which will be included and the battery is new. The stamp impression reads Registado S. Mocho Portugal. This information is stamped in the brass on the ... moreinside of the clock. The top of the clock has a soldier with a spear on a horse. I don't know anything about clocks. This clock never matched our décor so I figured its about time to find it a good home where someone can show it off. The only issue is that the glass has few light scratches on the center of the face in the middle. You can leave it. You might be able to polish them out. Or you can just replace it. Its pretty heavy since it is brass. Check the photos out.
