Bing, eBay, etc. so I am assuming it to be rare. It is in overall excellent and seemingly original condition,and appears to be complete, but does not run. The case is in very good condition and the finish seems to be original. There does not appear to be any previous repairs done to the wooden case and all glass appears to be original. This big clock measures 24.5" tall and 12" across the top of the front. The case is about 4.75" deep. I don't know anything about clocks. This one will run for a minute or so when the pendulum is given a gentle nudge. The clock spring and chime spring are wound tight. You can get the clock fixed or just use it as a decorator piece amid your antiques. It's an eye-catcher. Or salvage the parts here if you're in the clock business. Clock is missing a piece of wood from the bottom of the gallery at ... moretop right that's 2.25" long and is up to.75" wide. Fortunately. This isn't very noticeable. See photos. Wooden staff on pendulum was been broken long ago and a 19th Century repair stitched it back together with wire thread. Case shows soiling and some scuffs and dings. Metal innards. German Porcelain POCONO Ansonia Mantel/Shelf Clock Patd 1882 with Key/Pendulum
There are no chips or cracks. There is light crazing throughout as usual for these. It measures 12" tall. 12 1/2" wide by 5" deep. BEAUTIFUL DIAL with green and what appears to be original hands. The pendulum appears to be original also. This is a recent estate find and it does not run for more than a few minutes. Will definitely need cleaning. German (pre-1929 Haller) Mahogany Napoleon's hat Striking Pendulum Mantel Clock
This is a lovely mahogany veneer"Napoleon's hat" pendulum clock with a Haller movement in working order. Lightly cleaned and oiled. It is 20 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" high 5" deep(VERY important to measure if you have a specific mantel in mind) The German patent 916380 stamped inside the back was used by Haller until 1929 but it is not possible to date the movement more precisely than that. The case is exceptionally well made to my mind and in pretty good vintage condition. If you want a clock that keeps perfect time. There is nothing here for you to see, stop reading, add the word"quartz" to your search terms and move along there. Pendulums clocks are lovable. Eccentric, highly addictive creatures that need attention, fiddling and cosseting, just to run at all.NOT for the inexperienced. A bid on this item constitutes ... morean acceptance of that fact. A pendulum clock will never run"out of the box" unless you have it concealed in someone's bedroom as a surprise present. In which case it will happily dump it's pendulum, overrun and strike every 10 minutes all night or until it has woken them up and ruined the surprise! you have to find it a flat, level, surface to live on, set it up, and adjust it until it is happy. THEN you have to spend days using the screw at the bottom of the pendulum to adjust it up(if the clock is slow) or down(if the clock is fast)after which, you will, in all likelihood discover the charming eccentricity some clocks have where they run faster when wound and slower when close to winding. I could fiddle with this clock for 6 months and having it working perfectly. And you would still have to start the process all over again. Do not think of it so much as buying a clock. I tried getting the face off to take a photo of the manufacturers name but did not succeed, I was able to make out the name by 1 of the winding key ports, Clock is not in running condition. It keeps stopping, I wound this once and a lot, and I have not been re-winding it) I only set the pendulum in motion, it will run for awhile then stops, the chimes do work, There are 2 key ports 1 for the time and 1 for the chimes. Paper label on face. With brass trim, gold reverse painting on door, there is some wear to the reverse painting and the painting has a musical theme. Bag piper, musical instruments& musicians, fife, piano, harp, drum, horn, Back panel of clock is a single board, there is 1 brace missing at the top of the back of clock. And 2 underneath the front corners, I do have 2 unattached braces which I found inside the clock, 1 is for the top back of clock and I am assuming the other is for the underneath front. Very interesting and beautiful C1920-1930s Oak cased Striker type Mantel Clock that has a twin going front wind movement. Comes with original key and pendulum. 8.5" tall x 11" wide x 5" deep. Nice chromed front opening bezel that holds the convex 6.25" real glass. All in good used condition and comes in working order. The front glass door obviously has its original classic silver design on the glass showing a nice amount of wear for its age giving it desirable character. Everything else is as you see it too. Antique/Vintage Rare Meiji Black Adamantine Mantel Clock Working well. This unique black and gold mantel clock is not an American model from the turn of the century. Instead it is a MEIJI. Which is a Japanese clock company making clocks before the second world war. See the brand on the movement inside. But it looks like a Waterbury, Seth Thomas or the like. It has a shiny black adamantine case which is great condition for its age. Many of these old ones have thin restored adamantine but this one seems to be as thick and gleaming as it always was. Of course it has knocks and bumps commensurate with its age but they add character and it still looks really great. The decorations of columns and added metal have been gilded with proper gilding paste which has them glowing luxuriously gold. It has a bright clean shiny bezel and convex glass which ... moreopens and closes nice and snugly. This clock is not only classy it works extremely well counting out the hours on the hour and the half hour on its beautiful resonating cathedral gong. This was very revolutionary in 1910 when the first Bulle Clocks were built. This one is from about 1920 and running very good. Equipped with a 4.5 Volt battey cell. The battery has 4.5 volts because the bent bar magnet. To which small gain magnets were added. Already was a bit weak. The rest of the mechanism is all original. The sensitive small c ontakt springs were specially cleaned to ensure a good flow of current. Please note the lovely details such as the visible mechanism at work through an opening in the dial. The Famous Ansonia "Parisian" Clock with Pendulum and key. Great Condition
The Famous Ansonia"Parisian" Clock with Pendulum and key. Good Condition- Running and Striking Very Well. I don't need to introduce this one. It is so famous. If you missed out on the last"Parisian" listed, here's your second chance. Very sought after and the price is rising all the time. The gorgeous wooden case has been cleaned and oiled to show off the deep rich wooden finish. It seems to have two tones of colour in the wood from a dark blackwood on the top down to the base which is rich deep red. The front glass door has a delightful gold design. Everything else is as you see it too. In good condition indeed for its age. It has been restored somewhat as far as I can see. And what looks like the original Ansonia movement has been cleaned and oiled. That is working very well. Looks great too. It's been a ... morelong way since it came out of the factory in the USA over 100 years ago. You might want to give it some antique wax to make it shine but I prefer the matt smooth look. Zoom in on the HD photos to check it out the normal sort of damage for its age which gives it character. This clock is not only classy it works extremely well with a nice clear single cathedral gong on the half hour and counting out the hours. It is supplied with bullseye pendulum and key. These Ansonia clocks are very reliable running and will go 8 days without winding. Probably the easiest to keep ticking. Standing approx. 60cm in height and 33 cm wide these are big clocks. But I’m really not sure if it is painted or if it is some sort of beautiful decal because it is applied from the inside of the glass. When you touch it with door open, you can feel it. Regardless, it is really lovely! The Pendulum and Key are original. The Dealer based the Clock’s age on two facts. First that he feels that the Dial is Painted. I think the face is probably Tin or maybe some other Metal. He told me that the Painted Dial was a rare art which stopped at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. Also. There is some sort of‘scribble’ at the bottom that seems to read 4 05. I also see the letter“M” so perhaps it is either the maker or artist’s signature. I really do not know. A rare ca 1880 Victorian Eastlake style rose gilt cast bronze(I think. Could be brass, doesn't attract a magnet) 7 1/4" clock pendulum with a 1 1/4" in diameter sulphide glass insert with red and white pinwheel center design. The pendulum is 2 1/4" at the widest. The glass medallion rises 1/4" from the rim of the embossed surround. The piece above the pendulum slides up and down the post. Not sure what that's for. It is unsigned. For your consideration is this: Antique Cuckoo Clock Description: This beautifully crafted antique cuckoo clock is approximately 16" tall. 13 1/2" wide, and 6 3/4" thick without the pendulum and chains. The pendulum is approximately 8 1/2" long, and the two chains are each approximately 60" long when at their maximum possible length. The clock face is approximately 6" in diameter. One of the weights is approximately 6" in length and the other is approximately 7" in length. Each side of the clock has a small door that opens to reveal the internal gears. These doors may be used to set the clock. The back panel of the clock may also be removed to access the clock's internal workings. This clock is a masterful piece of woodworking decorated with an ornate wood flower pattern and inlaid wood bars. The ... moreoutside of the clock is almost entirely wood. But the internal gears and workings are metal. This is a gravity powered clock that runs on falling weights. The weights have a pine cone design and appear to be made of cast iron. According to the label on the back of the clock. The clock was produced in New York by A. Frankfield& Co. This label also contains instructions for setting the clock. The exact age of the clock is unknown, but according to our research we estimate it to be from the late nineteenth century or early twentieth century. Condition: This antique clock shows some signs of age and wear including some small scuffs or scratches on the wood. Some of the numbers on the clock face are missing. The internal gears appear to be in good condition to the best of our knowledge. The bellows are in good condition and are fully functional. The wooden cuckoo bird appears to be in good condition and is able to move in and out of the swinging door. Opening and closing its wings as it moves.
