Antique wall Clock French original 1800-1900 French Country w/ orig. shelf
This beautiful vintage wall clock is French Country in style. The green and gold tones with pink flowers have a wonderful patina. The is some very minor cracking in the wood due to the age and the way it was made. This is where the wood was glued together before it was carved. This is a wall clock meant to sit on the matching original shelf but could stand alone on a mantle. The works are marked Unghans with a large letter J inside of a star as shown in one of the photos. The clock while sitting on the shelf is 35" high x 19 1/2" wide. It does work and dongs on the hours and on the half hours. I can't find much information on this so if anyone has any info I would appreciate if you would share. There is a round stamp on the back but I am unable to make it out. Posted with

Antique Clock Seth Thomas and Co. Made January 1900 Selling a very beautiful Seth Thomas Clock made January 1900. It is in very nice condition. The clock does not have a mechanical movement. It is fitted with a chiming quartz movement which will stop chiming from 9pm and recommence at 6am. Handy for sleeping! No winding just look and enjoy this beautiful piece. It has had a new paper dial(numbers) fitted. The bezel dial and glass are in excellent condition and the hinge has had minimal wear. The overall finish on the case is extremely good considering its age with no peeling of the finish and the imitation marble pieces are still almost as new. There are only a few small blemishes that would go with the age of this old piece. Please study the pictures yourself. The year of manufacture is stamped on the bottom of the clock in reverse.With ... morea letter next to it. which for some strange reason is what they did with letters from A to L for each month of the year. Another beautiful mantle clock I couldn't pass up from a recent estate sale I went to. Unique designs. Love the dark green color columns. The metal deco of a lady holding what looks to be a harp on each side, metal deco on sides and beautiful designs as you will see in the 12 photos uploaded. I was told, and information I have received or have been told in the past has been wrong at times, so PLEASE be your own judge and PLEASE look at all the photos. Someone mentioned it as a"WAGNER" and, I was also told it's a Mozart Circa 1918. It is without the glass over the face. Again, NO glass over the face of the clock. There's crackling on the material of the face/dial, from age and it being in used, antique condition, I assume. On the front of the face at the bottom, MADE BY THE SESSIONS CO. FORESTVILLE CONN. U.S.A. The front ... morehas the metal claw feet on each side. Measuring the widest part, which is the claw feet and where they come out, side to side, again, including the claw feet, approximately 16 1/4 inches. Measuring front to back, including the claw feet, approximately 6 inches. It displays approximately 11 3/4 inches tall. I took pictures of all sides angles, even the inner parts/mechanism. I couldn't get it to run. I really do not know what it needs. I think, and my opinion only, the pendulum is not mounted right because I found another pendulum type piece loose inside. It has the key with it. It strikes a deep sounding cathedral gong to the count of the hour/s and once on a bell for the half hour. I am not a clock expert and do not know exactly what it needs. So hopefully someone that knows about clocks will be able to tell more about it by looking at the photos uploaded. The scales show it weighing 9 pounds and 0.6 ounces. ANTIQUE CLOCK: Art Nouveau. Gilded Bronze, c.1900, Movement Working Perfectly This is a very fine and beautiful Antique Clock in the Art Nouveau style made. Most likely, around the turn of the last century, or around 1900. The Art Nouveau movement was an international philosophy and style of art. Architecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts, that was most popular from 1890 to 1910. It was a reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, and was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants but also in curved lines. Our clock has the typical curving lines and foliage- leaves and tendrils flanking the dial and continuing down to the feet. But the most interesting decorative element in this clock is the figure of Cupid right under the dial. He holds his bow in his right hand and seems to be cupping ... morehis ear with his left hand; a slightly mysterious gesture. Two long flower stems spring up from behind the figure of Cupid. One other interesting aspect of this clock. And one which reflects the Art Nouveau style. Is that, at first glance, the decorations around the edge appear symmetrical. But, in fact, they are not. There are slight differences in the leaves and tendrils and even in the decorative band above the dial. There is no perfect symmetry in Nature, and the artists who worked in the Art Nouveau style avoided any rigid symmetry. And sought balance instead. There is no damage to this clock. It stands securely and keeps perfect time. There is some natural wear to the gilding. But it does not detract from the beauty of the clock. The back is simply painted a bronze color. This clock measures 7 inches tall and is 4 1/2 inches wide. The photos give a very good idea of the particular charm and beauty of this Art Nouveau Clock made with a figure of Cupid from around 1900.
