The façade of the clock features foliate decoration ... moreand volute feet on the lower portion. A male figure stands on the raised ground next to the movement casing holding a small bouquet. The white enamel dial features Roman numeral s and Brequet-style. Blued steel hands for the hours and the minutes. Above the X11 are two letters- R/A. This is a secondary fine timing adjustment. The letter R means retard or to slow it a bit and A indicates avance or to speed up just a bit. There is a slight scratch on the dial which extends just over the V1 chapter on the dial. The time and single bell movement is visible on the reverse. The movement also features a brass bob detachable gridiron pendulum which can be adjusted as well to fine tune the accuracy of the movement. The back plate features the makers stamp and movement numbers in addition to an additional stamp for La Croix de la Legion d'Honneur which he was awarded for his contributions to Horology. The top center of the dial bears the name of the clockmaker and noted horologist Constantin- Louis Detouche(1810- 1889) Constantin was the head of The House of Detouche who were on the forefront of French Horology by combining artistic elegance with scientific precision. The dial has an abbreviation-Fseur which means fournisseur or provider as he was appointed as the official clockmaker to The City of Paris and to the Emperor Napoleon III as well as the Croix de Danneborg by the King of Denmark. During the mid 19c The House of Detouche presented at many Horological and Industrial Expositions where they would submit their latest and technologically advanced and complicated creations. This clock measures 11"x 11" x 5" and overall 14" x 14" x 8 ½" in a period. Ebonized oval wood base with a glass dome. This clock features a heavy brass and beveled glass case which are in good condition with no noticeable damage except for a small dent on the center top of the clock. The porcelain dial is unmarked and is in good condition with one minor hairline crack. The clock's escapement functions properly when manually exercised. However, it will not run for more than a few seconds. The escapement works for a considerable time without the pendulum, so I think this is probably a beat adjustment, but this is only a guess. The chime side functions properly when manually turning the hands. This clock comes with a simulated mercury double vial pendulum and an antique key. The pendulum alone sells for about $70. The clock’s dimensions are 10” tall by 6” wide by 4.75" deep. This clock movement was purchased in a clock collector’s estate sale. Please check out all the photos for condition of this clock. Please read my description and view all my pictures below.Up for auction is a circa 1914 Seth Thomas drop octagon gilt model wall clock. More commonly called school clocks. It's a nice example of this model. The mahogany case is in good shape for it's age and still retains the original finish. Most everything on this clock appears to be original too, including the painted dial, hands, bezel, glasses and makers label. This model has gilt lines around the case that have become worn in a couple ... morespots near the lower door.The signed 8 day time only movement is also original to the case. Upon inspection, it appears that the movement was recently cleaned but the previous owner. I oiled the mainspring and all pivots. It is running very well and keeping good time. I will note that the escape wheel pivot is showing some wear. It is not effecting the running of the clock but may need to be addressed in the future.About 21" tall by 14" wide. Seth Thomas used their won dating system which shows this clock as being made in June of 1914.I will start this at $175 with best offers being accepted. You are bidding on a very rare piece of coca-cola history. These clocks were given to country stores in the late 1800's to early 1900's to advertise coke. I new they were rare because I have only seen about a half dozen in the last nearly 40 years and I tried to buy everyone I saw but after researching them a little on ebay I have came to the conclusion that they must be extremely rare because they have over 56.000+ items listed and none of these clocks. This particular clock I bought right out of a local home from the grandson of the original owner. It was running on the wall when we took it down. Usually these clocks are Ingraham's or Gilberts but the only way to actually tell is to take the face off and look at the works and they will probably be signed but I don't want to do this unless someone really wants to know. The ... moreclock is solid oak with it's original dark finish. The glass is all original,The paint is all original, some of the black paint on the top glass is missing, see photo but can easily be repainted if new owner desires. The gold on the bottom glass that says regulator is in great condition, bright, near perfect. The face is all original with the drink coca cola still visible but there are stains to the face which most clock people like me would much rather have the original face stained than a new one but it could be replaced but in my opinion would run the value of the clock. Most all American made wall regulators of this age have the back inside painted black which this one being no exception, see photos. This coke clock still has the original brass pendilum and key. DIMENSIONS: 34 inches in total height, total depth is 6 inches and 19 inches total width at the top of the clock on the moulding. Depth of the main part of the case 4 1/2 inches, width of the main part of the case 15 3/4 inches. 1860s-1880s vintage E. Ingraham large 24" tall oak case"Regulator" clock. Time only. Large 12" dial pan, original upper and lower glass. Has received an in-home restoration fairly recently, case was refinished and the dial face was repainted by hand, giving it a bit of whimsy to the numbers. Back board was replaced with new masonite and they did a good job of it; should last for generations to come. Keeps excellent time. I believe it was serviced recently too. I think it's an 8 day movement, but I haven't run it long enough to be sure- ticks rather loudly and our apartment is small. Pleased to offer this beautiful early 1900s vintage 8 Day Round Face Schoolhouse Wall Clock. Believed to have been made by The Union Clock Company of Japan. Features time and hour strike, OGEE curves to the bottom face, hand-painted red tiger wood finsh, updated movement and metal dial face from Korea which should last another 100+ years. 21" tall, 12" wide. Showing lots of"patina" to the finish. Runs strong but is gaining time; perhaps a longer wood pendulum shaft would be in order, or some more weight to the bob. It features some very stunning natural swirls all around the Dark Rosewood cabinetry. This clock is a 2 glass affair with the round dial door glass. And bottom black w/ gold imagery. It needs winding every 8 days. The clock has a large circle shaped pendulum inside the case. The sound of this clock is quite loud but magnificent. A deep and warm bell sound. On the clockface there is the maker's mark GB. This clock is antique since the brand was created in 1899. And in 1930 it merged with Junghans When the Second World War ended, the company stopped producing clocks, and today, Gustav Becker clocks are no longer produced. Thanks for your time. This STUNNING Crystal Regulator clock has a porcelain face that is marked"Seth Thomas" The porcelain face is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The clock has an eight day movement and strikes on the hour and half-hour with a gong strike. The clock has beveled glass on all four side and is further embellished with an elaborately decorated gilt case. The glass on three doors is in excellent condition although on one side. There is damage to the glass on the lower left corner(see photo 5) No other chips, cracks or repairs. The gilt case is in very good condition with no noted damage. Orton Preston & Co. Wooden Works Regulator Shelf Clock Circa 1820-1830
Up for auction is a very rare all wooden works regulator shelf clock manufactured by Orton Preston& Co. Farmington, Conn. Circa 1820-1830. This company produced clocks only during this time frame. The clock is in very good condition. It is weight driven with two cast weights. Includes the original wind up handle. The works are all wooden with brass bushings. The top glass is original. The bottom glass has been replaced at some point. It originally would have had a reverse painting. The case is of pillar/scroll type and is 32" high x 16 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" deep. The veneer is in very good condition. There is a manufacturer's instruction sheet glued to the inside of the case which tells you how to set the clock. I do not have the key for the door. I have had this clock running fine in the past, but it will not consistently ... morerun right now. I think it needs a good cleaning and adjustment. The interior works come apart easily with metal pins and wooden pegs holding everything together. Here's an opportunity to own a piece of early 19th century American history! Produced by New Haven Clock Co. and is believed to be late 19th or early 20th century. The top and base apear to be bronze or bronze plated. And the trim around the glass looks like brass. The French movement was made by Samuel Marti of The Marti Clock Co. And is stamped on the backplate with the date 1900. Eight day striking clock strikes on the hour and half hour. Has all original beveled glass panel encasement. The hand painted porcelain dial is in excellent condition, not a hairline crack or chip to be found! An antique. Circa 1880's, French Louis XVI style brass regulator clock with champleve enamel decorations. The sides are beveled glass panels. The brass pendulum is a beautiful lady head with sunburst around. The center brass dial is champleve also. The clock is not in working order: main spring broken. Sold"as found" No key included. The clockworks are marked: Etienne Mavant, Paris. It measures 14" tall by 6-3/4" wide by 6" deep. Very good condition to case: brass without dents or breaks, original patina, enamels without chips or cracks. All glass panels without damage. Missing the knobs to the two doors.
