It's made of pine staves and has three iron bands ... morethat keep it tight and secure. We found it in an old barn where it had been forgotten for generations and it's untouched and just as it was when we discovered it. It shows lots of age and wear and has a fabulous, weathered look. Best of all, this churn has original, old blue paint, making it a very desirable piece for those who furnish their homes with as-found, country antiques. Once a common household fixture, it's now a primitive relic that has tremendous decorative appeal. The dasher stick appears to have been made from a tree branch while the churn itself is constructed much like a barrel. Even the splash cover looks to have been made by hand. As for size. This butter churn stands about 34 1/2 inches tall including the stick and about 19 3/4 inches tall without it. Not including the cover, the top of the churn has a 6 3/4 inch diameter while the bottom has a diameter of 8 1/4 inches. Solid, rugged, and sound, it weighs nearly 10 pounds. The wood is in very good shape and is free of woodworms, termites and dry rot. Still dusty from the barn, it just needs to be wiped down with a wet cloth. It's one of our nicest"barn finds" in quite some time! Country antiques in old blue paint are scarce and are good investments! Wouldn't this churn look wonderful in your home? Movement for Antique French Portico Clock
Up for auction is very hard to find and beautiful movement for antique French portico/empire clock. Manufactured in France as I believe around 1830. The movement has a nice metallic dial in a good condition and beautiful gilded bronze bezel. The movement was professionally cleaned and oiled, mainsprings were changed and now the movement is very clean and works perfectly- it runs and strikes in the hours and half hours. The outer diameter of the gilded bronze bezel is a little more than 5" approximately 5.1" The shipping cost in 48 continental states is $19 with insurance and tracking number. It is in good condition. I have no idea if it works as I am always scared to wind these to test, so I don't. The clock face is in good shape, original glass cover. It is marked Manufactured by Waterbury Clock Co. U.S.A. On the back plate it is marked with this. Last patent date is 1894 for this one. Then you see the other Waterbury mark. Clock face is about 1 15/16ths ins. approx. I liked the little bird down here. I believe this is brass with a brass finish. A magnet does not stick to it( besides the back cover plate)It is fairly light-weight. So not bronze. I am also listing some other Art Nouveau clocks I bought in separate auctions. This rare antique Imhof clock is in excellent condition and working order. The light spots in the photos are just from the camera flash and reflection. The clock does not have the clear glass face cover. This is easily replaceable. It also does not have the end knob to set the clock time. This is also easily replaceable. Currently. I can set the time with needlenose pliers. I believe this clock is vintage 30's or 40's and is definitely early 20th century. The clock was made by the famous Swiss company Imhof and is an 8 day- 15 jewel clock. Overall the solid brass(or bronze) clock case measures almost 7" across by 5" in height. Can not find any majorly noticeable scratches or chips or marks although you could find some if you wish. However, as you can see in pictures# 2 or#3 as you zoom on the dial face there are some age marks on it and that is an indication of it being old and collectible. ... moreYou could have someone try to improve it or just leave it like that as a token of being antique. Sessions Clock Company Antique Mahogany 8-Day Mantel Clock - Original - 1908!
Antique Sessions Mantel Clock This is a great example of a Sessions 8-day Mantle Clock. It was made circa 1908. It is in GREAT condition. The clock has all of its original parts. Movement, case, rear door, etc. The movement works great! It has a signed"Sessions Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement(see picture) which chimes on a bell once on the half-hour and on the hour it counts the hours with a very mellow tone on a cathedral gong. It has a solid mahogany wood case with colored inlayed wood design on the front faded by over 100 years, but still can be seen(see pictures) Its model name is the"Plymouth" The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The case is in very good condition. Very few blemishes at all. see picture) The mahogony case is made with a simple but beautiful classic design with a finish that has ... morea beautiful aged patina. All the screw holes in the back line up perfectly indicating all parts are original. Even the original back! The hands are also original! The cream tinted porcelain dial is signed Sessions and the original bezel is solid brass! The numbers and lettering are very crisp and not worn at all. Also. The dial is easy to read even from a distance. There are age hairline cracks in the porcelain that really looks antique. The original paper label is still on the inside of the back door. The back door is also original and fits nicely. The dial has a special place where you can set the time to slow and fast using the key– at the number 12(see picture) This way you don’t need to take the clock down off the mantle in order to make fine adjustments to the movement as to slow and fast. Complete with a Sessions pendulum(maybe original) and a double-ended key– one side to wind the clock and the other to adjust the speed. Nice Antique Teutonia German Mantle Shelf Clock - Time and Strike - Works Good
We have up for sale a nice old German shelf clock. Has been running in our house. There is no glass on face. There is paint scuffs on case and looks like the little knob on top of case has been reglued. On back of case there is a label saying Teutonia Clock Manufactory. Under trademark shows Made in Baden. Under that is the word Warranted, then P.H.S, then it is numbered(can make out only 351) The P.H.S stands for Phillip Haas& Sohn. There is another label at the top on back of case saying(name) Jeweler and Silversmith established(unreadable) then Hemel Hemstead. There is small damage to the wood on case where this label is(as shown in pic) On the movement there is a mark with P.H.S with a rabbit above it. Comes with pendulum and key. The case is in very good condition and the finish seems to be original. There does not appear to be any previous repairs done to the wooden case and all glass appears to be original. This clock is in good antique condition with some damage and wear that is described below. All of the dore bronzework is beautifully patinated and we guarantee that the metal is bronze. Not spelter or some other base metal. The gilding shows a very small amount pitting and tarnishing consistent with its age. The only damage we note on the bronzework is that we can see that there were originally 5 flowers in the crown. One of the two marble pillars shows a repair(see photos) There is also minor staining of the marble. The eight day time only clockworks with a silk thread suspension do not show any maker’s marks. It's a nice example of this model. The mahogany case is in good shape for it's age and still retains the original finish. Most everything on this clock appears to be original too, including the painted dial, hands, bezel, glasses and makers label. This model has gilt lines around the case that have become worn in a couple ... morespots near the lower door.The signed 8 day time only movement is also original to the case. Upon inspection, it appears that the movement was recently cleaned but the previous owner. I oiled the mainspring and all pivots. It is running very well and keeping good time. I will note that the escape wheel pivot is showing some wear. It is not effecting the running of the clock but may need to be addressed in the future.About 21" tall by 14" wide. Antique Marble Clock on Wooden Base-Made in Germany-Early 20th Century?
This is an original vintage clock made primarily of marble(I think) surrounding the clock workings and on a wooden painted base. There is a mother of pearl type cover to the center of the Roman Numerals on the dial. Also. There is a key that allows you to wind the clock at a hole in the face- it is like an old skate key and winds to the left. It does work and keeps time, losing about 5 minutes or so every couple days. I could find only one marking on the clock that says"MADE IN GERMANY" in tiny print on the metal rim below the Roman Numeral VI inside the glass face. The size is 15" long(base) by 9-1/2" tall and 5-1/2" wide(base) It is very heavy weighing over 10 pounds. The look of this clock makes me think it is from the Art Deco period but I cannot substantiate this other than via my instincts. My notes on this ... moreare completely non-existant so any other expertise/suggestions available here on EBAY would be gratefully appreciated. Condition is very fine although there is natural wear and tear over the years(mainly to the paint on the wooden base. The putti are taking birds from the nest at their feet. The open cage sits next to them. The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. Antique Wall Clock w/ Pendulum, Key, Wooden Case, Runs for Few Minutes, Worn
Description Think of how this antique wall clock will look decorating your home or office! Looks like everything is here. brass key. Pendulum, etc. Click on the photos to enlarge and inspect for yourself. They say a photo is worth a thousand words. So please examine ours carefully as we intend them to be our description. This big clock measures 24.5" tall and 12" across the top of the front. The case is about 4.75" deep. I don't know anything about clocks. This one will run for a minute or so when the pendulum is given a gentle nudge. The clock spring and chime spring are wound tight. You can get the clock fixed or just use it as a decorator piece amid your antiques. It's an eye-catcher. Or salvage the parts here if you're in the clock business. Clock is missing a piece of wood from the bottom of the gallery at ... moretop right that's 2.25" long and is up to.75" wide. Fortunately. This isn't very noticeable. See photos. Wooden staff on pendulum was been broken long ago and a 19th Century repair stitched it back together with wire thread. Case shows soiling and some scuffs and dings. Metal innards. Face is soiled and insect-nibbled. Again. Please examine the photos carefully. Neither of us wants any surprises or disappointment. I purchased this clock at an old-fashioned country antique estate auction on the northern edge of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Such clocks are still used today in nearby Amish homes.
