This is a really pretty French Portico, Napoleon III, Regulating Pendulum Clock. Very nice working clock with lighter wood inlay. It measures 18 3/4" ... moreX 9 1/2" X 5". I believe it is from the late 1800's, but I am not a clock person. I am also not sure of the workings, but I put the pendulum on and gave it a nudge and it took off and ran for several minutes until I took it off. Seems to work fine. Comes with Key. This came from an estate of a high end clock and oil lamp collector. She only bought the best. She had a few Tiffany's and some carriage clocks which I purchased as well along with a few others. The French 8 Day platform escapement is signed J. E. DUPONT PARIS. Two hammers striking on a gong. One for the time and one for the alarm. The movement has not been tested or taken apart. Clock runs for 30 seconds than stops, probably just needs a cleaning. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines to the dial. The case is in great condition with no damage or repairs. Excellent detail to include the 4 fluted 3/4 columns. Four glass beveled sides surround the case. One of the side glass sides has some chips, but this piece could be replaced for cheap money. Original key included Ferdinand Barbedienne(10 January 1810– 21 March 1892) was a French and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder. The F. Barbedienne foundry was started in Paris in 1838 by Ferdinand Barbedienne and Achille Collas. Who was the inventor of a machine that would mechanically reduce statues. They at first produced bronze reductions of antique sculptures of Greek and Roman origin. Their first contract to produce bronzes modeled by a living artist was made in 1843 when they arranged to produce the works of Francois Rude. They barely survived the revolution and financial collapse of 1848 which caused many artists and foundries to declare bankruptcy. Barbedienne actively pursued contracts with the many sculptors of Paris contracting with David D'Angers, Jean-Baptiste Clesinger, and even producing some casts for Antoine Louis Barye as well as others. Achille Collas died in 1859 leaving Ferdinand Barbedienne as the sole owner of the foundry which by that time had grown to employ over 300 workers at their workshop located at 63 Rue de Lancry in Paris. Ferdinand Barbedienne was made the President of the Reunion of Bronze Makers in 1865 a post he held until 1885. The outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870 and the shortage of raw metals caused him to have to stop m

The turned columns that flank the clock’s face, together with the carved designs and the metal details that embellish the box, make up an elegant and sober piece that matches perfectly with the reddish wood and the metal face. Solid and timeless, this clock is bound to be the starring piece in the decoration of any room or office. The solid wooden box is adorned by a crown with three finely turned pinnacles. It has beautiful engravings on the side and base. The back has a circle opening which gives you access to the working parts of the clock and the pendulum swing. It does come with 3 keys, two large ones and a small one. The clock works and has a beautiful chime when it hits the hour, and half hour. The wood is chipped in some spots and the face has some cracking. The paint also seems worn down a bit. I regret that the picture does not show the true beauty of this clock. This is not a showy. Gimmicky item, but a truly nice clock. I believe the wood is walnut, but I'm not an expert in these matters. The gold paint is in good condition, and the clock keeps good time. The top corner is rubbed a bit, but a stain stick will cover that, if it is bothersome.

This is a very beauiful antique wood carving that is marked on the back"Gustav Becker- Holzsohnitzer- Berghausen- Hauptstr. 80" I purchased this piece many. Many years ago, and it has been packed away in my closet, in my smoke-free home. It depicts a lovely country scene of a water mill that is very intricately carved in bas relief 3D. I am not sure what kind of wood this is, but it is very heavy and dense. The original wood color can be seen behind the painted"Gustav Becker" in the back The piece weights close to 3 pounds. It measures 15-3/8 inches wide(390 mm) and is 1-1/4 inches high(32mm) at it's highest point. There is a very old circular hanger on the back. Also on the back, there is a V shaped marking, as well as 2 very small nail holes. This may have been made if the carving was part of a clock, which I believe ... moreit was. The piece appears to be stained with different shades of brownish colors, as well as the green and white water that is coming from the bottom of the mill. There is some minor flaked paint along the upper right side, and there is a very small hairline crack along the right side rim(which I have shown in my pictures. It is 21 1/2 inches long, 10 inches tall and 4 inches wide. The case is wood veneers with solid oak trim. The case is in excellent condition with even color, no damage and no repairs. The works look good but on winding the clock runs for about a minute and then stops. The striking mechanism works and produces a single tone. It has the correct pendulum bob and key. Hi. You are looking at a rare Craftwood Miller Clocks French Period clock that has been refurbished and painted. It has been precisely painted and I do not see any flaws in the painting. The front has been painted gold with a green clock face. The numbers and center are painted white and even the eyes at the top are painted red. The back is painted green and I believe the back plate has been painted a different color from the original as well. There is some damage to the maker's plate but it is all readable. There is a loss of paint to the back plate. There are what appear to be cracks throughout but they were simply by design for looks and do not go all the way through. The key winds up the clock properly but it sometimes needs a boost to start up. The minute hand is loose and needs adjusting often. It may need a replacement minute hand. ... moreIt has been wound up multiple times and it seems to function properly otherwise. The slow/fast function seems to work properly as well, though the plate has a large bend across the top so the lever does not fit through the slot properly. antique French inlaid wood clock Made in France with convex glass
Here is an unusual table top(or mantle) wood cased clock that was Made in France I believe the wood is inlaid. But I am no expert when it comes to wood. Overall it is in excellent condition. And measures about 9 5/8" high, 8" wide at the base of the brass legs. The only markings I found on it were"Made in France" on the back of the movement. As well as the numerals I show you in the pictures above. The clock is in working order. And does not use a pendulum or need a key. As you can see in the back the winder is part of the movement itself. On the very top of the movement is that wheel that spins back and forth just like a watch. The clock works fine. But I cannot attest to the timing of it. There are some nice accenting brass ball finials on top. And all four legs are made of brass as well. There are two pillars in the ... morefront that have brass finials on top and bottom I am quite sure the dial is porcelain. But I cannot be sure. I have tried looking for any cracks or breaks in it but I could not find any, so that makes it even more difficult to determine if it is porcelain. The hands look like brass. And the convex glass in front. the glass is surrounded by a brass frame. The casing on the bottom right is a little loose. A small bit of glue will hold it well. But I will leave that to you. You can also see on the right side there is a small sliver/piece of wood that is missing. Not that noticeable but I thought I would point it out just the same. Up for auction is a rather rare German Art Deco Machine Age mantel clock. Circa 1920-30. Dimensions are approximately: W- 12.5" H- 10.5" D- 5.5" Maker: Unknown. The manufacturer is not label on the mechanism or case. Mechanism: The clock has an 8-day time and strike spring driven mechanism. The mechanism looks fairly clean and is in working order. The clock strikes once on the half hour and the number on the hour. The pendulum is a replacement. The case: The case is comprised of 2 different woods. Oak and I believe rosewood. Someone told me the base was teak, but I don't believe its accurate information. The case still has the original finish. There is a small slice, approximately 1.5" in the veneer by the numeral"3" Please see the photo. The metal dial and hands are original. The clock will come furnished ... morewith a winding key. Not sure of it's exact age. The mark in back shows: G.B. possible short for Gustav Becker, but can't be 100% sure. The body of clock is solid wood. With dark antique stain. The face of clock is made of white porcelain. With dark blue checker design. It has key for winding. Clock works if slightly tilted off balance. The face has crack going in three different directions. Someone with skill can probably fill those in. Measures: 14" overall. Face is: 10" x 10" square.

Old, about 1930-1940 Wood Wall Clock Family Wall Clock/ Wall Watch, Wooden Case
This wall clock had been a family clock for a years. My grand grand father had bought it(don't know the maker or where he had bought it. Only know that it is that old) Probably t was made during the 1930's or 1940's, as far as I'm familiar with it. It had been at my grand father room since the 50's, and I remember that he got it as a family treasure. The mechanism had been removed few years ago, since it had stopped working, so it is not running right now, but probably can be repaired to work again by placing a new clock mechanism. otherwise, this wall clock wooden case/box is in great condition, only few little scratches made during the long years(which can be seen on the photos) I hope I provide enough photos to represent it as closely as I can. A beautiful Victorian clock is up for your consideration. This must have been one exquisite clock when it was brand new as the beauty still shows. It was made by the Gilbert Clock Co. out of Winsted. Conn. USA. There is a paper sticker on the back which reads L. J. Diehl Jeweler and Optician and a pencil mark which reads either 1914 or 1915. This may have been the place of purchase or may have been there for maintenance or repair. On the bottom of the clock is a paper sticker as well which tells the manufacturer and the word FRANCE which may be the style name. The clock is large and heavy measuring 15-1/2" long at the base, stands 11-1/2" and the depth is 6" The clock is made primarily of black wood with a maroon marble color wood both above and below the pillars in front. It has brass legs, pillar trim, side handles and the ... moretrim around the clock face. There is scroll work on the front bottom and hopefully you can see that in the third picture. The clock will run for a couple minutes and stop, maybe it has been over wound. It does ding once on the half hour and dongs on the hour, two times for two o'clock, three times for three o'clock and so on. The clock mechanism itself looks fine and reads Gilbert Clock Co. and there is a 1905 imprint, perhaps the year it was made. Offering this just incredible wood framed key wind clock. After running it for a few days I have determined it is actually about 4 to 5 minutes fast. I am sure there is some type of adjustment for that but I don't want to break what is not broken I cannot find a manufacturers name on the unit. ANTIQUE OAK BEEHIVE CLOCK~SETH THOMAS~WORKS EXC.~NICE FORM~LOVELY WOOD~MINT~N R! This lovely solid oak clock was made by the famous company Seth Thomas. Of whom I am sure you are well aware. The wood is lovely and in good condition. The works are original and the clock chimes on the half and full hours, for 8 days. This clock has been lovingly cared for and my husband has a dear old friend who restores and cares for clocks.therefore.it shall come to you with a new cleaning.BUT THAT IS ALL IT NEEDS. The key of course will come as well. Age.guesstimate is early 20th century. The clock measures 13" high. 9" wide and 5" deep. The bezel and glass are all intact and of course, original. Original German WWI Veteran Helmut Krommer Wood Clock/Musical Wood Painting.Wow!
Very Rare! Beautiful 1940's hand carved wooden clock/musical picture. About 32" x 21" Very nice condition with a few small dings. Original clock motor has been replaced to make it work. Pull the hidden string and the water wheel moves and plays a nice peaceful song. Helmut Krommer was a Sudeten German who fought in the First World War on the Austrian side(decorated in 1917) Over the following two decades he became famous in central Europe for his etchingsand engravings. But difficulties with the Nazi regime(his wife was Jewish, and Krommer refused to join various state-controlled artist unions) resulted in his flight from Germany to Prague. He made his escape from Prague(a town he loved) in 1939. After the Germans had moved in and occupied Czechoslovakia. Between 1939 and 1951 he lived in Guildford UK. Where at first he had ... moregreat difficulty living off his art. However, he was very inspired by the local countryside and the bulk of his work seems to have been conceived here. In 1951 he went to live in the US with his eldest daughter. He held a number of one-man exhibitions in the 1950s and 1960s. He died in 1975.
