Antique HENRY MARC FRENCH Ormolu SEVRES Porcelain PUTTI CLOCK Cherub Brass Gilt Offered for sale is this beautiful antique French gilt metal clock. It ... morewas made by Henry Marc of Paris. The putti are taking birds from the nest at their feet. The open cage sits next to them. The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. I hung the pendulum where I thought it should go and the clock did not run very long. Please email me if you have any specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. SIZE: The clock is 12.75 inches tall. And approximately 13.5 inches wide. It weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. The clock face is just under 3.5 inches diameter. CONDITION: There are some rubs and tarnish to the finish. I haven't tried cleaning the clock. I don't see any repairs or damage. In the photos. You can see what looks like some"separations" in the metal but it is not damage- some pieces were cast separately. Please see the close up pictures for the best description of the cosmetic condition. The front and sides have sound frets backed with red velvet. We have carefully and completely cleaned and restored the clock to a very high standard. The large and stunning dial is enamel on copper and is complete with it's original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex bezel. The bezel is marked for the retailer Charles Hour. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. Up for sale is a Vintage Soviet Russian Navy Submarine Clock Komandirskie CCCP USSR. This is a used clock from the Soviet Union era. This is an 8 day ... moreclock in very good condition. I have wound it up and it lasts 8 days until rewinding is necessary. This is 6" clock and weighs 6 Lbs. There is a small lever at the top of the clock that accesable by opening the lid with the key and I set it all way to the the right for a few days and the clock ran a few minutes faster after about fours of observing off and on. And then I reset it to the middle location and clock was running within seconds of the actual time. i do not know why this is there but it is probably some sort military setting for timing torpedoes or navigational applications. The black base that is mounted at the bottom is probably not the original way this clock was mounted, I mention this because my wife is from Ukraine and her father served in the Russian army during the Soviet Union era and he asked me to remove the base and there is three location hanging mounts on the back side and two of them are broken and suggested that some one had pulled it away from it's anchored location on the Submarine during the break up of the Soviet Union so he concluded it is a make shift base because it is made of plastic and the Russians did not use much of any plastic materials on Military equipment back then. This would be great addition for military collector and even a vintage clock collector. This item sells as is with no returns. I believe it had a gilt wash over brass or bronze and I haven't attempted to polish it at all so the photos don't show all that well.all of the beveled glass, four sides and top, is in good shape. This is a wonderful old Beehive Mantel Clock which I rescued from Cousin Emma's place in Southern Maryland. I have had it for many years. But recently I had it cleaned, oiled and gone over by a clock smith. It is running and striking perfectly as it always has done since I have had it. It strikes the hour on a cathedral gong and marks the half hours on a bell. I have never seen a rear door as beautifully made. But the two pieces on the front of the Clock are slightly unequal and the fillings of the nail holes around the edges on the front are quite evident. But the case is still very beautiful. There is no damage to it at all; it has very elegant marquetry strips on the front. A porcelain dial with the original hands, and a brass bezel with the original glass. It also has the four original gilded brass feet and working closing mechanism on the back door. The Clock also has its original pendulum and two-ended key, the small end of which can be used to adjust the speed of the movement in the small arbor above the hour 12. I have never had to make this adjustment. I am guessing that it dates from around 1890. But this Clock may be older. I doubt that is much later. This Clock stands 12 1/2 inches tall and is 9 inches wide at its base and 5 1/2 inches from back to front. If you click on this link. Then the largest clockmaking operation in the world. As with many of these old ones this one has had some little restoration but this one seems to look as shiny and bright despite the knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character and I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. Apart from two very short hairline cracks in the glass the dial looks wonderful and the brass bezel opens and closes well. The other brass embellishments are bright and shiny too. Antique/Vintage Long Georg Nielsen designed Wooden Cased HAC Wall Clock Running Striking on 4 chime bars. Banjo Clock not included just for size comparison) Now this clock is an absolutely special wall clock with the case especially designed by Danish designer George Nielsen with many interesting special features. In lovely light wood the case is obviously a Danish design with a gorgeous large 21cm convex circular glass framing the dial and the lower glass framed by brass leadlighting. Decorated with wooden carved scroll embellishments on the sides and top. Side vents with delightful removable brass plates that are perforated to let the chime rods sound resonate into the room. The movement can be slid out away from the case by releasing two finger knobs and the chiming can be switched off by a special lever which slides a brake in place. ... moreAnother two finger knobs screw out extra wall grips which can give added stability and even support if you wish as this is a heavy clock. The chimes too have a clever double fork brake which can be turned on and off at the back when the clock is in transit. The case is in great condition for its age which is probably antique as there is a repair sticker on the back dated 1922. This one seems to look as fresh and bright as it always was with the fine wood grain warming your parlor. Of course it should have knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character but I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. The dial looks wonderful. Shiny and clean. The movement is a HAC so of very dependable German origin. This clock is not only classy it is running quite well. The best thing about it is the reliable works inside and the amazing cathedral gong which I timed at echoing for more than 20 seconds after striking. Its got a grained wood veneer which has been covered over by some well meaning restorer, hence the spill on the back so it would look even nicer if it was brought back to the original wood. The chrome bezel around the convex glass opens and closes nicely and I like the stylish plinth feet at each end which sets off the Art Deco style. A stunning antique one-of-a-kind mantle clock that looks to be custom made from a circa 1760s pocket watch. The clock features a removable pocket watch style clock with ribbed stem resting between two brass fish with spade shaped tails. The clock features an enamel face with Roman numerals. Hand-engraved“Leble London” to inside clock works. The clock is housed in a mantle case comprised of a rectangular structure with four antiqued brass columns which support beveled crystal. Attached to top with brass finials and a brass bald eagle proudly centered on top. Its case has a brass framed crystal door for access to the interior. This is a Bigelow Kennard table or mantle clock with a Waltham movement that is a little bigger than a 18 size pocket watch.Maybe a car clock movement. It is running and keeping good time. The stem is on the bottom and works like a stem wind pocket watch. The frame is 7 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The frame looks like it needs to be repaired. The glass is very good, the base is very good. A very unusual clock that I have seen very few of. I am thinking made around 1920, that is from the movement. The total height is 10 1/2 inches. This clock. Along with several other antique clocks which we inherited and will probably be listing as well, was inspected by an antique clock dealer. Although I appreciate the beauty and sounds of antique mechanical clocks, I am not an expert in any way. I will give you all the information I have and if you need more photos, please contact me. We were advised to have the clocks cleaned and serviced. So. This clock was recently completely"overhauled" and cleaned by a professional clock master. It runs well; the chimes don't quite correspond with the hands on the clock, but that should be a minor adjustment; the chimes work well and sound beautifully. This clock is a fabulous Beaux Arts Onyx and gilt Spelter French clock from the 1800's. It has an ornate hand painted porcelain face. All in Baroque Form. Clock works well and ... morethe pendulum is present(although I cannot seem to find the proper key-we did have the key for this clock and if I find it, it will be sent should the auction be successful; the clock master who overhauled the clock did not want the key, and I thought I put it with all the other clocks and their keys) It does not seem to have a maker's marking on it, but I was told that this was common with French clocks. There are three holes drilled in the top of the clock surface for attaching the topper. Please note that this topper is not bolted to the base. The clock topper figure is a 1800's Beaux Arts casting in gilt Spelter of a small child. Seemingly repeating school lessons from an open book on the child's lap. This might or might not have been the original clock topper; we cannot be sure, but it does go well with this clock. It is about 10 inches tall, and is in very good condition with not cracks or repairs. 19thc FRENCH Brass CARRIAGE CLOCK Running & Chiming
Presented for your consideration is this beautiful antique French carriage clock. I am not a clock expert but will describe the best I can. Any info appreciated! The brass case is especially nice with a"diamond" border at the top and bottom. The clock is 7 1/2" high to the top of the handle. 5 1/2" to the top of the case and 3 3/4" across. The back is marked"Hande France" The bottom has a sticker from the clockmaker when the previous owner had it serviced. The clock is currently keeping time and chiming now but no guarantees that it will be running after shipment. You are buying"as is" I do NOT have the key. The clock is in very good cosmetic condition. The glass is all intact. This listing is for a wonderful marble clock and garniture set. Completely unmarked for maker or origin. Good scale and design. Great mix of colors. Clearly antique and overall it looks great. Base is about 16 1/4" X 2 1/2" Clock is 9" tall. 8" in diameter, clock face is about 6" birds are about 5" tall; weighs a hefty 10 pounds 14 ounces. Garniture pieces are about 4 3/4" tall x 4 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep; weigh about 4 pounds 12 ounces combined. This set is vintage and shows some signs of age. The clock does wind ok. Mechanism seems to run and keep time. Hands look good and move easily, key works, door swings fine and looks great, is a little saggy when opened. This clock has an ordinary case but a fantastic movement and the clearest Westminster song ringing out every quarter of an hour. Looks English but is possibly German. The attractive grained wood veneer which apart from a split visible in the last photo is in pretty good nick but might look even nicer after waxing or polishing. The movement with three trains is in great condition for its age and is working extremely well. The bezel is a cut above the average with its clean chrome look around the convex glass which opens and closes really nice and snugly. The hands have a distinctive reverse arrow piercing. Antique/Vintage prob bef 1922 Long HAC Wooden Wall Clock Running & Striking
Antique/Vintage Long Wooden Cased HAC Wall Clock Running Striking on 4 chime bars. Now this clock is an absolutely special wall clock with the case having many interesting special features and the movement chiming system unique. In lovely rich dark reddish wood the case is of strong and imposing design with a large 18cm circular glass framing the dial and the lower glasses being beveled sections framed by brass leadlighting in the form of an oval(21cm long) highlighting the large pendulum inside. Decorated with a wooden carved scroll embellishment on the top and having small circular side windows allowing one to view the chime rods as they resonate into the room. The movement can be slid out away from the case by releasing two finger knobs and the chiming can be switched off by a special lever which slides a brake in place. The chimes too ... morehave a clever double fork brake which can be swung into position when the clock is in transit. The case is in great condition for its age which is probably antique and has the HAC brass plaque inside. This one seems to look as full of character as it always was with the fine wood grain warming your parlor. Of course it should have knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character but I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. Apart from some discoloration on the dial this clock is in great condition. The movement is a HAC so of very dependable German origin. The other amazingly unique part about this HAC is the fact that the chiming system produces the Westminster Big Ben Chime with only a 2 train movement. Usually 3 are necessary and you have to wind up three arbors. But this chimes the hour on the hour with a musical chord and plays the Big Ben song on the other 3 quarter hours. The finish seems good commensurate with its age. This clock is running and striking very well. The movement looks as new with the Franz Hermle& Sohne stamp from Germany. The dial is labeled as Unicorn and it and the bezel has its aged patina. As is the feature of an 8 bells clock it has three systems of chiming. One tune is the ordinary Westminster Bell song. Another is St Michaels, and the third is called Whittington after the famous Dick. It rings sections of these tunes every quarter hour. In 1842, brass movements were introduced, and first cased in the popular O.G. case(which was made until 1913) Wood movements were phased out in 1845. In 1853 Mr. Thomas incorporated the Seth Thomas Clock Company, so that the business would outlive him. Mr. Thomas died in 1859, and Plymouth Hollow was renamed Thomaston in his honor in 1865. Mr. Thomas was very conservative. And after his death many new styles of clocks were introduced by his sons. Regulator clocks were introduced in 1860. The patterns and machinery for these had been purchased in 1859 from the creditors of bankrupt clockmaker Silas B. Terry. Spring driven clocks were introduced ca. 1855–1860. Perpetual calendar clocks were made from ca. 1863–1917.
