Here is a really nice old German hand carved black forest cuckoo clock. Not sure of the age, the old couple I bought it from said it was his fathers. It was running when I took it off the wall, but I must sell it as is, who knows what bounci9ng around by the post office will do, it could need adjusting after that. Gorgeous Restored Vintage Hand Carved German Cuckoo Clock w/Trees and Deer
Up for auction. We have a restored vintage one day Black Forest German cuckoo clock. The manufacturer is unknown. This a carved wood wonder. I just love this clock. The carving is gorgeous, of a house with pointed chimney, trees, and the browsing deer. It's just a work of art. It is complete with chains, weights, and an unusual pine bough pendulum. We ultrasonically cleaned and oiled the movement, refinished the frame, adjusted the gong, cleaned the chains, and tested it for several weeks in our home. It now has a new lease on life; looks beautiful and runs and cuckoos perfectly on the hour and half hour. This has a one day Regula movement. This is a very beauiful antique wood carving that is marked on the back"Gustav Becker- Holzsohnitzer- Berghausen- Hauptstr. 80" I purchased this piece many. Many years ago, and it has been packed away in my closet, in my smoke-free home. It depicts a lovely country scene of a water mill that is very intricately carved in bas relief 3D. I am not sure what kind of wood this is, but it is very heavy and dense. The original wood color can be seen behind the painted"Gustav Becker" in the back The piece weights close to 3 pounds. It measures 15-3/8 inches wide(390 mm) and is 1-1/4 inches high(32mm) at it's highest point. There is a very old circular hanger on the back. Also on the back, there is a V shaped marking, as well as 2 very small nail holes. This may have been made if the carving was part of a clock, which I believe ... moreit was. The piece appears to be stained with different shades of brownish colors, as well as the green and white water that is coming from the bottom of the mill. There is some minor flaked paint along the upper right side, and there is a very small hairline crack along the right side rim(which I have shown in my pictures. This German made clock was made during the WWII period of a hard wood. Probably Walnut. It is in working order although need to be calibrated and the time is about 10 minutes slow. the original key is included and tape on the rear of the door. It has some minor imperfections and flaws. Vintage hand carved Cuckoo Clock made in Germany. Once beautiful German Cuckoo Clock took a tumble and is now a question mark as to its working condition. Some of the wood pieces broke off and were thrown away. And some of the metal pieces were tossed too. What is seen in the photographs is what you are bidding on. Clock still has its original"Hand-Carved" label attached and you can read"Made in Germany" on the dial face. It may be a Black Forest clock. And if not it is certainly in the style of Black Forest clocks. As I was working with this clock taking these pictures I lightly pushed the Cuckoo bird on the left side down. And as he popped back up again he made a little"peep. Condition: Used Size: 6 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide and 3 inches deep Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Mastercrafters/Sessions What a great clock this is! It is definitely hand painted porcelain(or china glaze) The clock has been serviced. And it's working and keeping proper time. The dial has great accents and the painted artwork on the front of the case is something to be proud to display. This is a Mastercrafters electric clock with a sessions mechanism. This clock features a man and woman seated on either side of the clock. The costumes are reminiscent of colonial times but could be from any of the 18th or 19th century eras. The only identifying markings are on the clock face where it reads clock movement made by Sessions Made in the USA. The back includes patent numbers.
