Here's a Small Old Chelsea Brass Ship's Wheel Clock. Offered at NO RESERVE! The diameter of the back plate is approximately 3 and 7/8" and the clock is in Very Good Cosmetic Condition; the brass needs a good polishing and the face has what I would consider about average wear for the age. I think the pictures do a very representative job of illustrating the actual condition so examine them carefully and use the zoom feature. Unfortunately I cannot test the clock because, although I have numerous clock keys, none fit this clock. As you can see in picture 7 there is dust and dirt in and around the works so at the very least it will require a thorough servicing. Remember, there is No Reserve on this old Chelsea Clock. Keyless Clock" Rim Wind" Phinney was know for making clocks that would be an add on to new automobiles. Believe it or not the clock was not a standard feature on vehicles for quite a while. These clocks would be added to a vehicle either by placing them on the dash, or actually having them set into the dash. These were wound by actually turning the rim or bezel. These were found in vehicles from the mighty Rolls Royce all the way down to the work horse Chevrolet pickup. It is our guess this was made for use in a private yacht/sailboat by a well to do person of the early 20th century. They made many styles and shapes, and they are also know for travel clocks as well. This still appears to be working, but we cannot comment on the accuracy. With a little TLC this could easily be"road ready" once again. It measures approx. 4 1/2" high and wide, very heavy. Antique metal ship lamp with wind up clock Pat'd 1927 to repair beautiful piece
Included in this auction is a nice old lamp with a wind up clock and a metal base shaped like a tall ship on the water. The cord is probably original and in poor shape. I seem to remember that I plugged it in at one time and blew a circuit breaker so I highly recommend the cord be changed. The clock is a wind-up clock and I wound it up a couple of turns and it didn't work. It might need to be cleaned. The pictures show it dusty. I brushed most of it off but it could use a gentle cleaning. I didn't want to do too much because the patina is wonderful. There is no maker mark on the lamp. Patented Sept 6 1927 is stamped on the bottom along with DCS 73421. There is no name on the face of the clock. The clock housing looks like stamped copper but I think the ship may be spelter. Rare Seth Thomas Ship Bulkhead Clock 24 Hour Dial Working High Precision
This is a large diameter 24 hour dial military issue ships bulkhead clock in a Bakelite case by Seth Thomas. These clocks use the high precision timepiece movement with micro regulation by Seth Thomas and are fantastic quality clocks. The 24 hour dial is a rarely seen fitting for these clocks and a great addition to the collection for both clock and military collectors. We unfortunately don't have the nautical history for the clock so can't tell you what ship it was on. Sold as a working clock that is keeping good time we haven't serviced the clock but it is functioning well. Included is a key for winding the 8 day movement. Smaller Seth Thomas electric clock. Probably from the 30's or so. Made in the USA. remember when we made things here? Nice old clock needs to be cleaned up. It is about 8 inches tall.There is no glass over the face. But I don't believe there ever was glass on it, but could be wrong. Its cord is broke and I am selling as is untested. On the underside of the clock, as you can see in the photo it has a white stamp CAPSTAN 2E which I presume is the model number. Has a few marks from normal use. Email if you have any questions.
