They were close to the original Tiffany's, Reed& Barton and other fancy stores. They sold a lot of items but they also specialized in Marbel Clocks from France. The dial is also red and black marbel and is carved Clock is dated circa 1880- 1890 The clock is a mantle clock but is technically called a pedestal clock because it was used as a base for a statue that went on top of it. That is why the clock has a hole drilled in the top- dead center. It is in working order: tells the time, gong chimes the hours and halves. The exposed escapement is fine over the white enamel dial. The back door is glass with brass frame. The front door has a thick glass bevel. Clock measures13-1/2" tall by 9-3/4" wide by 5-1/2" deep, the candelabra 21-1/2" tall by 8" square at bobeches. Excellent condition: polished slate without discoloration, teeny chip to slate on clock case front. Small chip to the side slate on one candelabra plinth. Rare French Perpetual Calendar Mantel Clock Signed'Cromey. Bristol' Circa 1850 Very nice gilt bronze French Perpetual Calendar Clock with marble base. Enamel dials and the case is glazed(glass) on the sides/rear. The c lock's movement operates properly and the clock is in excellent condition. The 14 day movement strikes the hours and half hours on a bell with a Brocot dead beat escapement visible through the upper dial and a compensated pendulum of brass and steel peculiar to Ellicott's design. The gilt engraved dial mask; the upper white enamel dial with blue steel'Breguet' style hands and Roman chapter ring; the lower perpetual calendar showing: day. Date, month, equation of time, and moon phase. The numbers on the calendar dial around the inner circle indicate the difference between solar and mean time. Which shows ... morethe'equation of time' This allowed people to set their clocks by using their sundials. The movement signed'Cromey. Bristol' and numbered 31945. The calendar movement numbered 31756. The case is glazed on three sides and open to the front; multi-colored gold ormolu on a white marble base; surmounted by a'ruffled pigeon' numbered 39703. William Cromey is listed in Britten’s as a clockmaker and jeweler in Bristol. 1842. As with many French clocks in the 19th century they were made in France but sold in England. In this clock the retailer, Cromey, probably commissioned the clock so his name is on the dial. Antique Mantel Clock This auction is for a really nice and very well made antique. 1800s shelf or mantel clock. The clock has the original porcelain dial that’s marked Raingo Frerea Aaria, which is a famous French clockmaker. The dial does have some hairline crow’s feet. The case is made of very heavy solid brass and on the front it has a neat image of a cherub in a chariot and griffons at the very bottom. All four sides have thick beveled glass panels and the front and back door open. The clock movement has been replaced by a battery movement but otherwise the clock is old and original– probably from around the 1870s. The case is in excellent condition but there is some chipping to the glass. Measures about 13¼" tall and guaranteed as described! Great piece! The clock sits on the metal hand tooled horseshoe to raise the clock for the swing of the pendulum. The beveled front glass is free from any damage. The back glass has been replaced with a Lucite, why? Not a clue. The ceramic face plate does have some age damage, see picture#5. A very nice working order antique. Circa 1840, portico mantel clock. The clock is rosewood veneered, with scrolling marquetry and string inlays. The cornice is with an original ivory color paint. The column bases and capitols, and the dial frame, are ormolu bronze. The dial is engine turned metal, possibly silver, with black enamel numerals. It is in working order: tells the time, gong chimes the hours and halves. The clockworks are unmarked, probably French. It has the original ormolu brass pendulum. No key included, will accept an American key. Clock measures 18-1/2" tall by 9-1/2" wide by 5" deep. Very good condition: original finishes. Small chip to the top edge of the cornice(see photo. The base is probably missing a molding around, and the ball or bun feet.

Very rarely seen. Cabinet is in one piece. With no repairs. Just a small chip is missing(barely visible and see images to find it) Those marble clocks are almost always seriously damaged. Not this one! Clock was found in the estate. Just like it is shown in the pictures. I have not cleaned it, not polished it, nothing. If anyone knows about this clock more and would like to share some info, I would appreciate it. The hour and half an hour alarm works(manualy set the time to test it) Clock doesn't work, but when I pushed the pendulum with my hand, works for a minute or 2(minute arm moves clockwise) but is slowly stopping. ATTN: READ ALL! Antique 19th century French gilt bronze figural mantel clock is an aesthetically pleasing antique time piece. Approx. 1850-1880's) The inscribed Blondeau á Houdan figural clock has an ornately decorated bronze and alabaster footed base with a small round clock resting to its left and a brass female Fileuse. Or yarn spinner, leaning upon it. The female is dressed in a square bonnet, pulled back curls, and a ruffled bustle dress with a loosely tied corset. Her dress is ankle length, a vulgar attire at the time, indicating she was of the working class. She holds a spool in one hand while drawing out string in the other. The clock is all original with a pendulum and turn key is included. Measures approx. 14 1/2" wide x 13 3/4" tall x 5 1/4' deep. There some wear to the bronzed finish normal with it's age. Marble has some edgewear and light discoloration, small chips. The clocks face plate has some discoloration and fading to the letters/ numbers. Clock is missing back cover. The Case is made of Heavy Black Marble Slate with Colored Marble Side Columns and Engraved Gold Gilded Scrolling and Designs. It measures approx. 11 1/2" Wide x 8 3/4" High x 6 1/8" Deep. Up for your consideration is this very rare Superb Antique French P.H. Mourey Gilded Mantel Clock Hallmarked 8 PH Mourey 73. It dates to 1873. It is in good overall condition. The clock mechanism does not seem to work. One foot comes loose because of a retracted screw, it needs a good cleaning and restoration of the mechanism, there is some loss of gilding. It comes with the winding key and pendulum. Both presumed to be original. I describe the metal as being bronze but may be some other metal. It stands a little over 16 inches high by 13 inches wide by 3.75 inches deep. It is very heavy. Decorated with enameled porcelain panels with cherubs and flowers, it is a stunning work of art.
