This is how I found the clock and comes to you as is. The case/statue is in beautiful condition and was probably French made but is not marked. The glass is original to the clock. It was made by the Ansonia Clock CO. New York. The Bronze is etched on back DIE CAST ART BRONZE CORP. Jamestown New York. It also has KOPPERS COKE Twin City on a metal tag. I do not know the age of it but would say that it is an older piece. I can not find another piece like it. The Bronze case has ix sides and pictures on each side. The pictures are Independence Hall, Benjamin Franklin, William Penn, Liberty Bell, Carpenters Hall and George Washington. Offered for auction is this very unique and rare cast iron Art Nouveau Art Deco desk or dresser clock. Could also be a traveling clock. It is hand painted with beautiful original paint throughout. Paint is in nice condition. There is some slight paint loss on back of clock near bottom right corner as seen in photo. Glass on front of clock is missing. There is some staining on face of clock as seen in photo. Clock is completely in tact. It is wound tight so I'm not sure if it works. Adjustment knob is missing on back of clock. For your consideration is a wonderful antique Ansonia Cast Iron Mantle Clock with a gold dial and open escapement. I have not seen another like this special clock. I have not wound this clock in about 5 months. But it worked fine for a month keeping perfect time and striking on the hour. 8 day clock. Great carved design on this beautiful cast iron. Stately and beautiful at the same time. It does have a chip in the bottom of the beveled glass on the inside, but is below the numbers. Clock measures 14 3/4" wide, 10" tall and 6 1/2" deep. It does have the weight, however needs a key. It takes a size 11. This is an Ansonia, however it is hard to read on the works inside. I could not get in a picture due to the design, however if you get it just right you can see the Ansonia name through the design. This heavy cast iron pendulum bob may have been from an old Grandfather clock. It has no brass finish only the solid cast metal look. The back is built to hold a pendulum rod of wood or metal. Antique Ansonia cast iron mantle clock claw feet 19th
This cast iron mantle clock was made by Ansonia and has a patent date of 1882. Including the feet. The clock is 17 inches across, 10 ½ inches high and 7 inches deep. It has a black lacquered finish. The sides of the front have metal torches inside of wreath decoration. The sides have animals of some sort, maybe griffins. The dial is enamel. The movement is marked patented 1882. The clock is working. The case and the back cover have been repainted somewhere along the way. It has in excellent condition. We do not have the key.

CT as stamped on the works, along with N Pomeroy. circa 1847-1878. The movement is assembled on a piece of wood which may be pine. The screws holding the pine onto the case are all loose as the wood has dried and the holes are stripped. I believe the dial and both bezels are the original and possibly the hour hand. However, the minute hand has severed when removing the case. I do have the minute hand which broke off and it may not be original) I am not sure of what type of wind up clock this is. Nor if it is considered spring driven. When I disassembled to photograph, after standing back up, the pendulum swung and chimed for about a week. I am not sure of what type of service is required, probably just a cleaning and oiling and I am also in possession of the original key. See photo) The chime makes a great gong sound. I have not attempted to wind up again so it is currently not running. I am also uncertain if this is considered an alarm. The pendulum is very heavy and is adorned with rhinestones or paste stones. Antique New Haven Cast Iron Bronze Finish Victorian Mantle/Shelf Clock
Take a close look at the photos of this very old and marvelously decorated clock. It is 4” tall 5” wide and 2” deep. So it’s probably more of a shelf clock than a mantle clock. The face of the clock is 2” in diameter. It has a unique shape and is wonderfully decorated with Victorian-style relief scenes. It has a beautiful bronze patina. The bottom of the clock has four small feet with a cobblestone finish. It has“JB 1374” stamped on the bottom. I don’t know what this is. The clock does run. But only intermittently. It does not keep accurate time. If you’re buying this to be a functioning timepiece. You’ll have to invest in hopefully minor repairs. It has a few dings. Most notably the top front of the spire. I have the key for this. Occasionally it starts up and runs fast. It is sporadic though. There are many damaged areas on the clock. I’ve tried to note all of them in the photos but may have missed a crack. I don’t know what type of metal this is made out of. A magnet does not stick to it. It is marked inside with the Japy Freres stamp. The hands of the clock need a nut on the post to keep them tight. Around the back gold tone rim where the thick glass piece is that protects the inside of the clock is etched: Bapr 24+29 jeanet(not spelled correctly but my best guess) look at the photo to see if you can decipher it. A handsome antique 1882 Ansonia Clock Co. Cast Metal Mantle Clock with Key Wind. Beautiful chime, with pendulum and key. Beautiful numbered dial, no glass- not sure if it ever had any. The pendulum has the following wording"Ansonia Clock Co. New York Patent June 18 1882" This clock is 132 years old and still works well and has a beautiful chime on the hour. The clock comes with the key. The metal could use some TLC to bring it back to its original glory, has a couple of dings to the metal on the front but all in all still a great working clock. ANTIQUE 1882 ANSONIA CLOCK NY 144 MANTEL WIND UP CAST IRON BODY CHIMES
Here is a beautiful. Old mantle clock. The body is made out of cast iron-black. The clock measures approx. 14" x 5 1/4" and stands about 10" high. The face has a diameter of 5" Has a glass door over the face.no cracks or breaks in the door.hinge still fine. Inside, it says: ANSONIA CLOCK CO. U.S.A. NEW YORK. PATENTED JUNE 18, 1882. It weighs about 15 lbs. unboxed. The backside is metal.there is a crack in the metal back near the bottom left foot. It is still intact and solid though. The little metal clip that holds the round back cover on is also broken on the clip side. You can balance it up there though. It chimes once on the half hour and chimes on each hour for whatever time it is: ex: 5:00 would be 5 chimes. It comes with the key. The clock does work.HOWEVER, the pendulum keeps stopping after about 2 min. You have ... moreto keep pushing it. It might just need adjusting.after all it's only 132 years old! I don't know anything about clocks so I don't want to mess around with anything. The inside is VERY clean! On the back inside wall by the face I can make out the numbers: 144. Black Cast Iron Antique Victorian Ansonia NY Mantel Clock Pat'd in 1882 As-Is
A beautiful antique black cast iron( Victorian Ansonia New York mantel Clock. Esti late 1800s(pat date 1882) Glass door, gold face that feels like tin or metal, clock has pretty etched or engraved decorations. Esti 10.25" tall. Base is 9.25" wide. Pendulum inside. No key. It's very heavy– I believe it's cast iron and wood. Not 100% sure. This is in good condition in my opinion. With scratches and wear marks to finish. Some sections are shiny, others more dull. It's apparent that someone refinished this piece. You can see some black overspray on the back when up close. Not sure if all parts are original. Inner workings look pristine, I see no rust or obvious damage. See photos to make your own determinations. Sold as not working. See no obvious signs of damage. And can't imagine that a knowledgable Clock person couldn't ... moresimply wind this to get it going– or bring it to a clock specialist and have them give it a once over. I did not try to wind this. Antique American 1900-1940 Cast Iron Clock for restoration or parts
This clock is being sold as is. I bought it a while ago and it kept perfect time and ran well. Then one day I was winding it and it would not tighten up. Has not run since. I can shake it a little and it will start but will quickly stop. It's not a large clock about 5" x 4" but I think it is cast iron due to the weight at least 5 lbs. I know a"little" about clocks and thought I could fix it. You can see by the pictures I took it apart. Sorry to say it still is not working. I call it dark wood tone because it is not the black you would think iron is. Also please take notice the clock face has no glass. This is a really nice piece of antique art, and hope that someone with clock knowledge can get her going again. Thank you for looking.

Available for your consideration is an Antique Ansonia Cast Metal- Spelter Clock Topper Fresh from a local estate sale. Is this beautiful early clock topper. I love these old clock toppers. The are top ornaments. Usually made of spelter, which adorned many of the mantel clocks from the late 19C and early 20C. Ansonia was the biggest US manufacturer of clocks that featured spelter figures but other US manufacturers also made similar clocks. Often with similar top ornaments. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe many of the ornaments were French-made and supplied to various US clock makers. This particular topper was made by Ansonia Clock Co. You are bidding on an Antique Working Ansonia Painted Ornate Cast Iron Mantel Clock made in Ansonia. CT with a great working brass adjustment with pendulum and working chimes, but clock needs some cleaning and adjustment and has no key, the time is a little off but it works and clock is marked with Ansonia name on the brass working with the numbers 6.1/2 also stamped in the brass. Clock measures 20" tall and 18" across at the claw feet and 3" thick the wooden box encasement measuring 15.1/2" tall and 7' wide and about 3" thick, I believe clock is late 19th century and is in need of some restoration, its missing the pendulum door on the front, and painted design is very worn and as seen middle piece is of a farm seen that is missing some paint and the clocks face is worn and flat glass is good just need cleaning ... moreand door works and latches good, and clock is missing the minute hand, clock only has the hour hand, cast iron body has a fillagree etched design in the cast iron that's hard to see, with four areas of a painted art work that is also worn and hard to see, and cast iron body has no cracks or chips, wood case has some paint wear and chipping at the feet and screws the hold box to cast iron need to be re placed they are stripped out but still hold it together, but even with the condition issues the clock works pretty good for its age and will be a great project clock, and I believe it may be rare and well made,I wasn't able seen any others out there, so here it is with no reserve. A delicate cast iron clock intended for parlour or bedroom as it has an alarm. alarm mechanism is functional but spring slips on winding so it will not ring for more than a second or two until the dspring is relocated into the winder. Main mechanism runs but needs oiling and cleaning. Which the purchaser will have to do if they want the clock to run reliably. My husband pought this because of the unusual position of winding holes and because also of the skeletonised centre. Which he said was rarely for sale.
