Antique NEW HAVEN Estate Black Wood Mantle Clock With Keys - Working!
You are bidding on an antique New Haven clock. This clock was purchased from an estate sale from Los Gatos. California. The base of the clock is made from wood I believe to be painted black. It has beautiful engravings on the side and base. The back has a circle opening which gives you access to the working parts of the clock and the pendulum swing. It does come with 3 keys, two large ones and a small one. The clock works and has a beautiful chime when it hits the hour, and half hour. The wood is chipped in some spots and the face has some cracking. The paint also seems worn down a bit. The inside of the clock says-MADE IN WEST GERMANY. REGULA, and E. SCHMECKENBECHER. On the back of the door it says-WEST GERMANY, and 8 DAY. The clock measures approx. 16 inches in length, approx. 12 inches across, and approx. 6 inches deep. Things that I noticed about the clock is- 1 of the chains appear to be missing, the weights are missing, and the roof has damage on the front as seen in 1 of photos. I believe it dates back between 1830 and 1850. The clock has a wonderful hand painted face featuring roses. It measures 13-5/8” long. By approximately 10” wide and 5” deep. The face does have a crack that runs from top to bottom which has been repaired from the back. It has a combination of metal works attached to wood plates. The hands look like they are heavy cut steel. The two weights that come with the clock look like cuckoo clock weights and I don’t know if they are original. The clock is missing its pendulum. Therefore the works are untested and the clock is being sold as found. They do look to be in good order. They also strike the hour on a gong. Antique 1880's French Black& Red Marbel Mantel Pedestal Clock Victorian Marked on the dial" Le Boutiller& Co. Union Square, New York" Le Boutiller& Co was a high end retailer/importer of fancy goods for the ultra rich of the Uuion Square area of Manhattan in the Victorian Era. They were close to the original Tiffany's, Reed& Barton and other fancy stores. They sold a lot of items but they also specialized in Marbel Clocks from France. The dial is also red and black marbel and is carved Clock is dated circa 1880- 1890 The clock is a mantle clock but is technically called a pedestal clock because it was used as a base for a statue that went on top of it. That is why the clock has a hole drilled in the top- dead center. I have a nice LARGE antique bronze flame finial that I am willing to give to the winning ... morebidder to put in the hole as an unsecured hole-filler(just sits in the hole- see next to last photo) just ask for it- see photos. Up for auction is an antique Waterbury black mantle shelf clock. It is 11 in. high. 16 1/2 in. long and 6 in. deep. The back paper label shows it is the Delray model circa 1915. There is also a partial paper label with Directions for setting the clock. There is a partial paper label on the back door showing it was sold by L.D. Clapham& Co. Jewelers and Opticians. The movement is marked Waterbury Clock Co. U.S.A. This clock runs and keeps good time. It only gongs on the half hour. We have not been able to get it to gong on the hour. We do not have a clock repair shop. There is a newer key included that works fine with the clock. Please look at all the enlarged pictures as they are part of the description. For your consideration is a wonderful antique Ansonia Cast Iron Mantle Clock with a gold dial and open escapement. I have not seen another like this special clock. I have not wound this clock in about 5 months. But it worked fine for a month keeping perfect time and striking on the hour. 8 day clock. Great carved design on this beautiful cast iron. Stately and beautiful at the same time. It does have a chip in the bottom of the beveled glass on the inside, but is below the numbers. Clock measures 14 3/4" wide, 10" tall and 6 1/2" deep. It does have the weight, however needs a key. It takes a size 11. This is an Ansonia, however it is hard to read on the works inside. I could not get in a picture due to the design, however if you get it just right you can see the Ansonia name through the design. Be sure to have a look at our other items! This is an outstanding find of a very rare. Handcarved, large, wood hunter clock that was created in the Black Forest of Germany about 130 years ago. It is by far one of the grandest antique clocks I've ever seen. I have never seen another like it and it's not likely I ever will again. I had always hoped to find time one day to do whatever is needed on the clock and did so just last week. I found to my amazement, that it does work, ticks, and chimes but it stops keeping time after about an hour or so but keeps ticking.then, I've run ... moreout of time and simply don't have time to press on with it. Wish I did so have it repaired(well worth doing so) do it yourself, or leave it the way it is; absolutely stunning on the wall. The clock is simply astonishing and one of the finest shield clocks I’ve ever seen. The clock is made of thick heavy wood and hand carved on the edge and trim. The case is lavished with pieces of antlers displayed on the top. Bottom, and sides in front and there is a large wooden deer head on the very top; I don't think the antlers are real but they sure look good! The Roman numerals marking the hours are nailed onto the case and the hands are matching and fancy to point out the time. The hands look to be made of bone but I'm not sure of this. The back housing is wood too and each side is held in place with three wire hooks on each. The back is nailed into place but the sides remove easily to allow access to the old weight driven movement inside the case. It's the very old style of movement with wooden plates holding the gears in place. I did service the clock as much as I could without removing the back. It has a little push button on the side that you push to open the face. I cannot see a makers name on the movement. The feet underneath are un-even and it does not sit flat and can be rocked. easily fixed) Sometimes it strikes quickly and not smoothly on the larger numbers 8-12. This will be adjustment. A very fine antique. Circa 1920's- 1930's, French Art Deco mantel clock. The case is made up from French rouge and Belgian black and white marbles. Two bronze puffed up doves are top ornaments. The diamond shaped white enamel metal dial has a white metal frame and glass. It is in working order to tell the time, no key included- will accept an American key. A very nice antique. Circa 1930's, Art Deco mantel clock. The shield shape case is of polished mottled pink marble on a polished black slate base. Attached on one end is a white metal seagull. The clock has a bubble glass door, the dial of black and gilt enamel metal. It is in working order to tell the time(not quiet running. The total clock measures 15-1/2" wide by 9-1/2" tall by 2-3/4" deep. Excellent condition: marble and slate without chips or cracks, bubble glass and dial fine. The nickel finish to the seagull has spotted, and the clockwork case has speckling rust. The clock winds nicely with an American key, no key included.

The serial number 3227 is stamped on the movement. The clock strikes the hour of the day on the hour and once every half hour on a cast bell rewinding is required around once a week with the key provided. There is no key but I put the pendulum in and it has been running nicely so it works great! Condition is very good with minor wear from age. It measures 12 1/2 inches tall and is 14 inches by 5 3/4 inches at the base. Antique Rahmenuhr Black Forest German clock with verre eglomise dial circa 1840
Ancient Black Forest"Rahmenuhr" or roomclock. Circa 1840, with glass dial and surround in boulle-style decoration, reverse painted. I believe this is called'verre eglomise' The dial and surround is in remarkable condition. Photos show practically no loss of detail or damage. The movement is running and striking but needs to be serviced as it seems quite dusty inside. The movement has brass-cased springs and gears are brass with steel pinions. Some gears seem to have brass inserts in the wooden plates to bear the load. All is actually working but some of the bearings will need oiling and the whole clock adjusted after transit. I can see that the movement is easily removable from the dial by firstly taking off the hands. Then releasing four hooks at rear of the dial. I have not done this to try it but that is how the clock ... moreis designed and built. And the pix should show it. This is a rare survivor of another time but is relatively fragile and will be extremely well packed for shipment to the successful bidder.

Breaks, chips, etc. that I can see. The back door was re-glued at one time. The Dial/Face: The n dial/face is in excellent physical condition. I can not see and/or feel chips. Breaks, etc. The hands are original. The Mechanism: The 30 hour weight driven mechanism is clean and in fine working order. It has"Haller" engraved on the back of the mechanism.
