As when started it only runs for very short periods. I think that the spring may need to be freed up and/or the movement needs cleaning but I'm not an expert so can't guarantee what needs doing. In between the eyes there is a small round indentation; I don't know whether this is damage or if something has come out of it. There are a couple of small chips off the ears but otherwise he appears to be in fairly good condition. Dog measures about 5.5 inches tall by about 5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. A French carriage clock with bevelled glass on four sides and top.not running. The clock. 5 7/8" high by 3 1/8" wide and 2 3/8" deep, is in original condition as found in a local estate. I believe it had a gilt wash over brass or bronze and I haven't attempted to polish it at all so the photos don't show all that well.all of the beveled glass, four sides and top, is in good shape. The mainspring will run for a very short time, so I assume it needs cleaning but I'm selling the clock"as is" It is stamped MADE IN FRANCE on the support for the mainspring.on the back above the hand wind are the letters L and F in script(could be slow and fast, or some other letters. I found this at a garage sale of a radio collector. It was stapled shut when I found it. But the staples were a little rusty, so I opened it to make sure it wasn't damaged. This beautiful old Grandfather Clock stood in my mother's house for as long as I remember. It is not in working condition as far as I'm aware and I'm not a clock expert. The pendulum is not connected but the weight is. We have separate pictures of the pendulum and weight for you to see. There is a faint signature on the face of the clock that says R. Brownsword Derby. My mother had a piece of paper in the clock that verified her reading of the signature as well. The Cornucopia design on top is the artist's way of telling a story with his carvings, connecting the top with the birds on the bottom. Outstanding condition, will make a great present! Herschede of Cincinnati, Ohio, this 7 tube chiming clock in the Gothic manner is all original when they won a Gold Medal at the Pan American Exhibition or World's Fair in 1915. The famous brass movement has been cleaned and oiled. It keeps accurate time and plays either the familiar Westminster or the Canterbury chime tunes on the quarter hour, also counting the hour on sonorous nickel tubular chimes. The dial has gold plated numerals plus filigree in the center. The chapter or numeral ring has spots in the silver finish, see photos. Controls for silent or strike are on the sides of the underlying brass plate. Solid mahogany. The case finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina and delicate crazing or crackling from age as ... moreshown. Dial glass and side panes are beveled, the lower door has wavy glass. This was an estate find and I have been running it for the past two weeks and seems to be doing just fine. Keeping perfect time. It is in nice condition, runs smooth but it does have some wear/tarnishing in the brass on the top and sides. I did not try and polish or buff out, I will leave that for the buyer to do. I am guessing the it is from the late 60's or early 70s and was made in Germany. It's pretty small but has a little weight to it and is a very solid. Cool clock. It measures roughly 4" tall by 2 3/4" wide. It has a handle on the back for winding and also has the ability to adjust the fast/slow with a lever on the back. You are viewings a very nice old estate mantle clock that is over 140 years old. The etching on the glass window is definitely Civil War theme. It includes the following: 3 bugles; 2 American flags with 42 stars; An American eagle; 2 Crossed sabers; 3 Civil War rifles; 1 Civil War Drum and a Civil War Cannon. The stars on the flags date it in the 1870's. These clocks were often called"Veteran's Clocks" is my understanding. Everything is original except I am not sure about the key. It does not look as old as the clock. The Waterbury tag was inside the clock and has the old Calligraphy penmanship. Specifications and given above- thanks for your interest. No reserve.
