Type in the title at worldcat.org, a site that lists all major holdings of rare books and maps. Very few if any of these are still in existence. This map shows its age. Has a few light stains. With hundreds of place names not typically found on smaller maps and a level of detail approaching wall map. In VG+ clean fine condition. Will look very nice for display. Once framed a huge map. Not to be confused with the much more common small quarto format issues of similar titled maps. This map is close to wall sized if framed. Sheet size measures c. 20 1/2" W x 14" H. Engraved area c. 18 1/2" W x 12 3/8" H. 7396] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the ... morephotos. note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Timeline: 1935 or 1936. Following the crash of the stock market. The United States continued to decline steadily into the most profound depression of its history. More than 32,000 businesses went bankrupt and at least 5000 banks failed. People lived in shantytowns dubbed"Hoovervilles, and some families moved into abandoned railroad boxcars, that were left idle after the Railroads had no freight to move, thus no revenues to continue in business. This map is wax engraved and was issued as part of the Rand McNally Commercial Atlas. To be used by shippers and businesses to get their goods to customers and markets. During this time, many different Railroad Companies existed, so this was no mean feat. The Rand McNally Commercial Atlas was updated yearly to show all railroad stops, even if no population existed, such as loading areas, storage areas, and terminals. Well-preserved original early 20th century antique color lithographed folio map. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Nicely detailed. An uncommon transitional issue of this huge map with boundaries and features not likely found on earlier or later issues of it. Overprinted in red to show railroad lines. A monumental. Almost wall-size map, not to be confused with the much more common small atlas maps by Rand McNally. This map was originally issued within a huge shipping atlas which had a far smaller production and cost much more than the normal family sized atlases the firm produced. A nice impression of an interesting antique map. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 20 1/2" H x 28" W. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object.
