Printed on quality heavy paper stock which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. A scarce and beautifully printed oversize map issued in Italy just prior to the Second World War. With a staggering level of detail. Similar to Stieler maps but in a much larger format. Literally thousands of places names are to be found. In VG to Fine or better condition. Beautiful HTF vintage 1947 World Book Encyclopedia map Wyoming colorful LOOK!
This is a map of the state of Wyoming from the limited printing of the 1947 post-war edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. It Is really a pretty map; the colors are bright. The printing is crisp, and it is in great condition. This map is a 2-page spread disbound from the encyclopedia. It was tipped in using a separate little tongue of paper, so the map itself was not cut as it was removed. There is a crease down the center where it was folded in the book. The map was a little too big to fit on my scanner, so not all of it is shown in the scan. It has a white border all the way around it. The map is 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The altitude is color-coded, from green for the lowest altitude through yellow and orange to red for the highest altitude. I don't know much about maps, so I don't know how this one was made. It has an old-fashioned ... morelithographed look to it, but I think I can see dots when I look at it through a magnifying glass. On the back of the map Wyoming towns are listed with their location and population(circa 1947) This is such a nice-looking map! It would look great framed. A double-sided page with boldly colored maps of Puerto Rico on one side and Wyoming on the other side. From an atlas by the renowned George F. Cram Company. Most antique and vintage maps have subdued shades. But these maps have rich colors that will really stand out framed. Because the maps are printed back to back. Only one can be displayed at a time. An original page from a 1960s atlas. Not a reprint or copy. Condition: Very good. The pages was just a bit big for the scanner. So part of the margin does not show in the image. This is a 1931 map of Wyoming. It is from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The map measures 11.25 X 15 inches. It is in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. Most surviving copies are the ones in Libraries and Universities.
