There are a couple of small stains. But they aren't that noticeable. The map folds up and fits nicely inside an original 9" x 5" protective orange cover. Condition is Excellent within the image, edges have light toning, occasional foxing spots, most maps still have the paper hinge attached on the back, and several older creases at the bottom corners, some margin residue on bottom left corner, otherwise no issues. These pictures are the actual maps About Condition: Having grown up in the antique business. Back in the day we used words like patina, aged and original to describe beautiful things that had some wear. Today we use words like, rugged, shabby chic and ... morere-purposed. These maps fall into those categories. The images are well produced, great strong colors and excellent materials. The margins may have small edge tears, occasional foxing and these maps also have an old crease across the margin, at the corners, just into the image. These flaws could be damage or patina. 1909 CHARLES MIX COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA Very Early HOMESTEAD Plat Map Cloth Backed
The map shown here is a very rare collectable early 1909 homestead plat map for Charles Mix County. South Dakota. It was printed by the Charles Mix County News of Geddes, South Dakota in 1909. The map is paper with a cloth backing. This map shows the names of those who drew these early homesteads on the plot itself. It was printed in 1909. Most of the homesteads are a quarter of land, but a few are bigger. The map was copyrighted by H. C. Tucker in 1909. I do not know if this is the original homestead map, but it certainly is an early one. There might be a few land plats with the original Indian owners, but I don't know for certain. It is mostly intact, but there are some edge chips and a few small tears or holes in the center. Also the map paper has browned a bit with age and it has an occasional soiling spot. Old 1903 Minnehaha County South Dakota Standard Atlas Plat Book~Sioux Falls~Etc
This is an old original antique1903 atlas of Minnehaha county of South Dakota compiled by Geo A. Ogle& Co. Chicago. This was purchased at a local estate sale of an original homestead place of Minnehaha county that had never left the family. This is the oldest atlas of South Dakota that I have found. South Dakota became a state in 1889. This is a big book measuring 18" x 16" The front and rear covers are loose from the book and are very worn. All the pages are still bound together. If you had it rebound it would be a real treasure. None of the pages are missing and there is no writing. There are some water stains just on the portrait department pages. I have shown the worse 2. There is also some yellowing of the paper from age. There are maps of each township and who owns the land in each quarter. There are also separate maps ... moreof some of the cities like Sioux Falls. Garretson, Brandon, Valley Springs and more. There is a patrons directory that gives each name and the year they came to the USA, and what land they own. There is also a state map of South Dakota. A boldly colored map of South Dakota from the early 1960s. From an atlas by the renowned George F. Cram Company. Most antique and vintage maps have subdued shades. But this map hasrich colors that will really stand out framed. An original page from a 1960s atlas. Not a reprint or copy. Condition: Very good. The pages was just a bit big for the scanner. So part of the margin does not show in the image. The actual page is complete. Approximate dimensions: Page: 8.75 x 12 inches. Maps: 8 x 11 inches. Most items are scanned with a black background. The image shows the actual item and is not a stock photo. Colors can vary a bit depending on your monitor and settings. PAPER CONDITION. Because most of the prints and advertisements were once in books or magazines. They all have at least a small bit of wear.
