This delicate teacup is approximately 3 11/16" from edge to handle arc. 2 5/16" deep, and 2 ½" tall. It is signed by A. Tohn and weighs approximately 2.2 ounces. The saucer is 5 3/8" in diameter and approximately 2.1 ounces. Both pieces are in excellent condition. The only flaw on the teacup I could find was a pinhead-size flake of absent color located slightly above the yellow rose on the backside(when the handle is turned to the left) On the saucer. There is a pinhead-size flake of absent color on the reddish-pink rose. Any other white/colorless spots seen are simply flash reflections. Please see the photos for clarification and to truly appreciate the fine condition. This particular Thomas Sevres floral design is the most colorful rose pattern in their collection. Vintage Royal Sealy Japan teacup and saucer pink and yellow roses
This is a beautiful vintage 1940's Royal Sealy China teacup and saucer with lovely pink roses. Made in Japan. There is also another flower in the design that has a bit of yellow in it, which looks very nice with the gold gilt trim. The background and inside of the cup is a pearly white, kind of a"mother of pearl" appearance, iridescent and reflecting more colorful hues. I've seen this referred to as a"rainbow glaze" and I think that describes it well. The feet of the teacup are three gold rings, and the handle is a double-ring design, also in gold, very unique. The matching saucer has a scalloped edge with open lace cutouts, very pretty! Both pieces in this set are in fabulous condition. There are no chips or cracks. Up for your consideration is this Regency Tea Cup and Saucer that are designed with Pink. Red, and Yellow Roses. The exterior of each piece is flashed/high lighted with a hand painted gold on the outside edge. This one has Gold Trim on the base of the tea cup and along the edge of the saucer These are English Bone China. As it is called, and they were made in England. There is some individual initials on the bottom of the tea cup, probably put there by the person who completed the work on it. The initials were placed there where ever, as they are not part of the pattern, as far as I could tell. Please examine the photos carefully. The Pink. Red, and Yellow Flowers are painted onto the outside of the tea cup and the outside of the Saucer. This set were very lightly used. Only on special occasions by my mother-in-law. There is no chips. Scratches, ... morecrazing, breaks, or cracks in this set, they look to be in very nice condition. When not in use. They have been stored and wrapped in a box for preservation. When I photographed these. It was the first time that they had been out side of their boxes in many years. Since they have been stored. There is a small amount of dust on them, but other than that they are in very nice shape. Please review and examine each photo very closely. As I have taken many photos in different lighting to give you an idea of how they would look in different situations. I have included a standard triangle shaped ruler to show you a reference as to the actual size of each item. Vintage Yellow Roses Black Gold Tea Cup& Saucer Plate Set- Shafford Japan DESCRIPTION: Beautiful teacup and saucer set is black in color and has beautiful y ellow roses on it with gold accents on black background. On bottom of cup says Shafford Hand Painted Japan. Colors are black. Yellow, white and gold. Saucer measures approximately a little more than 5-1/2" diameter. Cup measures approximately 3-1/4" high x a little more than 3-1/2" wide measured cup circle only, 4-1/2" wide with handle included. Please see pictures. There are some spots on the tea cup rim and saucer that the gold plating has worn off. On the saucer has a small chip out of one of the roses. This was part of a collection that was collected. I believe, in the 1940s thru 1980s that I am selling for someone else. He said she did not use them and kept ... moreher collection pieces in a curio cabinet display case.
