Teacup & Saucer-Late 1700’s-Floral Pattern-Hand Painted-Has A Professionally Rep
This matching saucer and cup are hand painted with a floral pattern. They date to the 1700’s. We got these from an antique shop going out of business sale in 1982. The lovely lady who sold them to us was very knowledgeable and well on top of her game. Just getting on in years and ready to retire(like me! She was a licensed appraiser. And she said this little set dated to the late 1700’s, possibly French. There are no marks to go by. You can see her label in our photos, and you can see what we paid in those old days. The cup is a bit under 2 1/2” tall and measures 2 3/8” in diameter. The deep saucer is just a tad over 5” across and is about 1 1/2” deep. The bottom edge of the saucer feels a little rough when you run your finger around it. The cup lesser so. Just normal shelf wear over the centuries. In the bottom of the teacup are some grains of sand, which are a permanent part of the cup and resulted as a n error somehow during the manufacturing process. Antique G & W Late Mayers/ Melbourn Teacup & Saucer
What an amazing example of brown transferware! This gorgeous teacup and saucer was made by Gilda& Walker(G&W) Late Mayer's. There are a few minor chips and cracks. Look at pics. There is also crazing and some discoloration from age. The overall condition is very good, especially for its age. What an addition to your collection! The saucer measures 5 3/4" in diameter and the cup is 2 1/2" high. The transfer work is beautiful. Pieces such as these are harder and harder to find, especially in this condition and pattern.

English Salopian Caughley cup and saucer - late 1700s
To my knowledge. This is an early Salopian Caughley cup and saucer set dating from the period of George III's reign 1775 to 1799. An example of the rich blues and gilding used as the English imitated the fine Chinese export porcelain of the period. This cup and saucer was brought to America by my grandfather when he immigrated from Bradford, England in 1898 and he was the one who marked it Caughley on the box. The saucer measures 5 and 1/4 inches in diameter and 1 1/8 inch high. The cup is 3 1/4 inches in diameter and 2 1/4 inches high. The bottom of both the cup and saucer are marked with an"S" for Salopian The condition is generally very good save for some slight wear to the gilding on rim of cup and saucer There are no chips. Cracks, or repairs. Early pieces like this were never perfect and normally show minor glaze flaws ... moreand have imperfections in the porcelain body. It should be considered a mark of age, not of bad quality. Caughley Porcelain was established in Shropshire in 1772 on the banks of the river Severn near Ironbridge and produced fashionable blue and white tableware. I don't know the exact age or the maker. It looks to be very old. But probably early 20th century, possibly late 19th century. There are numbers on the bottom, left by the sculptor. In the late 19th century and early 20th century they were paid by the amount of pieces they made, hence the numbers on the bottom. Unfortunately there is no hallmark other than the numbers. The tea set itself seems to be in good condition. There is some slight paint wear on the holder and in some unnoticeable spots. Other than that it looks to be in good shape. Any questions just ask!

Very pretty late 1800s gilded and decorated mustache cup and matching saucer
We are listing this very attractive late 1800s ceramic mustache cup with matching saucer. The cup and the saucer have matching gilded rays. And the cup has extensive additional gilded decoration around its rim, with a colorful floral design inside the rim. It also has a semi-circular opening through the mustache guard to allow a gentleman to drink without getting the liquid on his mustache, which was typically seen in the late 1800s(but is still sometimes seen today- more likely on novelty type items rather than expensive china) The bottom of the saucer is marked with the hand painted numbers 731 over 6468- perhaps someone else can identify a pattern and maker from that, but I cannot- I would guess the maker is either American or English. The saucer is 6.5 inches wide and 1 inch tall. The cup is almost 2.5 inches tall and 5 inches at its ... morewidest point.
