Antique Leeds Pottery Childs size Cup & Saucer Pearlware Circa 1820 English
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 English Pearlware Brushstroke Child's Miniature Cup& Saucer Set Staffordshire c. 1820 This miniature children's or dolls handleless cup or tea bowl and saucer was originally part of an early child's miniature tea set. The little Chinese shaped tea bowl stands 1 3/4" tall on a raised base. And measures 2 5/8" across the top rim. The saucer measures 4" in diameter. Hand decorated with high temperature cobalt blue enamel monochrome hand painted decoration on creamy earthenware, painted with a stylized poppy flower. Finished with pearlware glaze. A beautiful example of early 19th century folk art. The set was made in Staffordshire or possibly Leeds or Yorkshire in England. Typically. It is unmarked. One of the earliest wares intended for children to play with, ... moreused to instruct them in proper table manners or for a playtime dinner party or simply to decorate a dollhouse table. The saucer has a nick on the foot and no other chips cracks or repairs. The cup is in fairly poor condition. With two chips and three hairlines, all mostly visible on the inside only. Discoloration to the inside of the cup consistent with heavy use by sticky little fingers. Glaze ponding stilt marks and stray dots of paint on the underside. Original to the making. Offered as is. Early Blue-Printed English Pottery and Porcelain Transferware The clever discovery of decorating china by transfer-printing copper engraving. Made in the 1750s, allowed the growing English middle class to enjoy china that closely resembled the expensive hand-painted Chinese Export porcelain which until then had been the preserve of the wealthy. This early pearlware(called so because of the lustre imparted by its blue-tinted glaze) and soft paste porcelain transferware has a detailed, hand made charm that has long attracted collectors. Whether it imitates Chinese Export, or is derived from prints of the Orient, or comes out of the creative imagination of the English engravers, you can get a unique glimpse of history with every piece. A note on early tea wares: Tea wares of the late 18th and early 19th century are smaller than modern wares. Tea was very expensive in the 18th century. Not only was it imported from China. But the British

Staffordshire Pearlware Leeds Type Hand Painted Cup& Saucer c1825 ~ Leeds Type Gaudy Dutch Flower Decoration ~ Marked WOOD Enoch Wood& Sons ~ Saucer is 5 3/4" in diameter ~ Cup is 2 3/8" high by 3 3/4" across the lip A Staffordshire hand painted cup and saucer set usually called Leeds or Pratt type but this is marked'WOOD' on the saucer and is made by Enoch Wood& Sons 1818-1846. The painted decoration is a large yellow flower with circular cobalt blue petals with moss green leaves with two yellow buds coming from each flower. Not seen this type of decoration before but would fit in nicely with any collection of early Gaudy Dutch or folk type Staffordshire. The rim of the suacer and cup is also painted cobalt blue. The saucer is in excellent condition without any issues or damage. The cup has a fine hairline ... morethat goes through coming from the rim with some pale yellow staining around the top on one side; this isn't over paint or old restoration; the pottery is stained and only on the inside there. There is another small patch of beige stain seen in second pic below. Both of those stains could probably be removed with a professional peroxide bath. Despite the issues with the cup. This set is fantastic on display. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Please see the other English/ Historical Staffordshire/ porcelain/ pottery/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed.

Fine Staffordshire Pearlware ~ READER AMONG RUINS ~ Blue Transferware Cup Saucer
Antique Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Dark Medium Blue Transferware Cup and Saucer c1830 ~ Young Man Reading Among The Ruins ~ Saucer is 5 1/2" in diameter ~ cup is 3 3/8" across the top. 2 1/4" high A Staffordshire pearlware handless cup and saucer by an unknown potter in excellent condition. This pattern seems to me somewhat derived from the Willow pattern but with Romantic overtones. I don't think the young man or woman belongs in the willow story but there is a Chinese pagoda in the distance and two birds. The cup has one cartouche with the reader and the other side with the Gothic ruin. The borders of both cup and the saucer are filled with different passion flowers. The rim border of the cup is particularly nice as well. In excellent condition. There are the tiniest glaze flaws from manufacture but nothing I ... morewould call damage. Thanks for looking! No Reserve! Please see the other English/ Historical Staffordshire/ porcelain/ pottery/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed.

Antique Salopian Farmer & Cow Pearlware China Polychrome Cup & Saucer
Ebay Listing Page Antique Salopian Farmer& Cow Pearlware China Polychrome Cup& Saucer Item Description: Up for auction is a stunning antique Salopian pearlware cup and saucer manufactured in England during the early 1800s. The cup& saucer was manufactured by Shorthose& Heath of England and it is in the Farmer& Cow pattern. The cup stands about 2" tall and the saucer measures approximately 5 1/4" in diameter. Both pieces have polychrome decoration and they are unmarked. Item Condition: The overall condition of the saucer is excellent. It is very clean and there are no chips. Cracks, or repaired areas. There are some tiny flakes/knicks on the foot rim that I point out for accuracy, but these are not severe. The cup has been broken and restored at some point in its life and you can see the inpainting and overspray ... moreon the cup. Some of the overspray has started to flake away. The pattern details and color are excellent with no loss. The glaze is glossy with fine crazing and there are minimal light scratches on the surface from use and age. The set is being sold AS IS! I have been selling off the saucers at $110 a piece, and figured I'd include the restored cup this time in case someone could use it. ANTIQUE 18th C. CREAMWARE PEARLWARE SOFT PASTE MOCHA INCISED CHILD'S CUP &SAUCER
You are bidding on an antique 18th century creamware child's cup& saucer. The cup measures 2 3/8" in height. And the saucer is 4 7/8" in diameter. These beautiful early pieces are in the sprig pattern is two shades of soft beige with two green incised bands on both the cup and saucer. They have age crazing and could definitely benefit from a good cleaning, but I will leave that decision up to the new owner. The cup has two short hairlines off the top rim, two very minor"nibbles" off the top rim, and bottom rim chips-the largest of which is only 3/8 of an inch. The saucer has very minor roughness on the top rim and"nibbles" on the bottom table rim. All of the above can be expected on pieces of this age and purpose. Please see all photos for appearance and condition. Bid with confidence; check my feedbacks. ... moreI have been selling antiques for over 35 years and am still learning something new all the time. I don’t profess to be an expert. The majority of the items that I sell are from local New England estates or sales. Insurance is required for most items and is included in the shipping cost. With regard to shipping. Since E-bay requires sellers to post shipping cost on the listing, I have elected to use the shipping calculator for most sales. Please be aware. If the shipping cost seems too high, please send me a message before bidding, and I will get back to you as soon as I receive your question. Once in a while, I get to the post office and the cost is lower than I had charged. In that case, I will refund a portion of the difference that I feel is due the buyer.
