There are two spots on the saucer, which may have been paint when they painted it(see photos#1& 2) there is also a small chip in the base of the cup(see photo#1) There is also some crazing seen by the camera, but not to the naked eye. The little Chinese shaped tea bowl stands 1 3/4" tall on a raised base. And measures 2 5/8" across the top rim. The saucer measures 4" in diameter. Hand decorated with high temperature cobalt blue enamel monochrome hand painted decoration on creamy earthenware, painted with a stylized poppy flower. Finished with pearlware glaze. A beautiful example of early 19th century folk art. The set was made in Staffordshire or possibly Leeds or Yorkshire in England. Typically. It is unmarked. One of the earliest wares intended for children to play with, ... moreused to instruct them in proper table manners or for a playtime dinner party or simply to decorate a dollhouse table. The saucer has a nick on the foot and no other chips cracks or repairs. The cup is in fairly poor condition. With two chips and three hairlines, all mostly visible on the inside only. Discoloration to the inside of the cup consistent with heavy use by sticky little fingers. Glaze ponding stilt marks and stray dots of paint on the underside. Original to the making. Offered as is. A wonderful early miniature, perfectly elegant in its simplicity in a stunning earthy pattern- a fine miniature to add to any AAFA Americana advanced collection. Miniature pearlware tea wares in hand decorated brushstroke motifs are hard to find and highly sought after in such great condition! ANTIQUE FOOTED GILDED& HAND PAINTED DEMITASSE CIRCA 1920. THE CUP IS SQUARE AND STAND ON 4 FEET. THE HEIGHT OF THE CUP IS APPROX. 2 1/2 INCHES. THE SAUCER IS ALSO SQUARE AND MEASURE 3 1/8 X 3 1/8 INCHES. THERE IS A HAND PAINTED SCENE OF A VICTORIAN LADY SITTING UNDER A TREE IN THE COUNTRY SIDE. THE SCENE IS FRAMED WITH A ROUND GILDED FRAME AND TAKES UP THE WHOLE SIDE OF THE CUP. THE OTHER 3 SIDES MATCHES THE DESIGNS AND COLORS OF THE SAUCERS. THE MAIN COLORS ARE GOLD. circa 1893 Haviland France Limoges -- holly pattern -- cup & saucer set
This delicate. Almost translucent teacup is approximately 5 5/8" from edge to handle arc, 3 3/4" wide at the lip, and 1 ¾" tall. It weighs approximately 2.4 ounces. The saucer is 5 3/8" in diameter and weighs approximately 3.1 ounces. Both pieces are in excellent condition. Other than some gold loss, I cannot find any other flaws or damage. Please see the photos for clarification and to truly appreciate the fine condition of this set. A rich. Deep green was used to create a scalloped pattern around the edge of both the saucer and the teacup. A medium shade of green was then used to craft the holly leaves that rest on an even paler green background. The holly berries were done in the richest of deep reds. Gold was then artfully used to outline the scalloping, add additional scalloping on the saucer, color the teacup's ... morehandle, and then edge the lip of the two pieces. Both the teacup and the saucer are stamped Haviland in an arc with the word France directly underneath marking this set as being manufactured sometime between 1893 and 1930. This Reinhold Schlegelmilch chocolate demitasse cup is approximately 3" tall. 3 3/16" wide(from lip to handle arc) and 2 5/16" deep. It weighs approximately 2.4 ounces and is in very good condition. The saucer is approximately 4 ¾" in diameter, weighs approximately 2.3 ounces, and is also in very good condition. The only flaws I can find are manufacturing in nature: the saucer has 1, pinprick-sized flake and 2, pinhead-sized flakes(all under glaze) on the raised rim the piece rests upon. RIDGEWAY TRIO- Made in England– circa 1818 Early 18 th century trio(consisting of teacup. Coffee cup and saucer) made circa 1817 in the“round plain” shape. The shape is consistent with that of the one displayed in“A Compendium Of British Cups” by Michael Berthoud(plate 631– page 106) but in one of the many thousand different designs offered by Ridgway. Beautifully decorated with pale and royal blue flowers and leaves. The inside and outside of the rim is accented with gold gilding- the gilding is in excellent condition. I have for you this evening a very beautiful example of porcelain that was fired at the kilns of Sevres in France in the early 19th century. This piece is made of the very finest grade porcelain being made in that region and indeed some of the very finest porcelain ever made. This example is a swan cup and saucer set which is an iconic mold design by this maker. This piece has been fired to biscuit form and most of the swan has been left the prestine white of the unglazed porcelain. The remainder of the cup and the majority of the saucer are heavily gilt in the highest quality and beautiful gold gilt. The elegance and richness of this set is just simply decadent and speaks loudly to the period in which it was created known as Empire which was very popular at the time of the making of this set. I am unsure of the age of this item. However I believe it may be from around the 1950’s. The primary colors of the saucer and tea cup are iridescent porcelain. Black and gold. The tea cup is footed; with the foot of the tea cup being scalloped. Tea cup design is very refined. And delicate. The saucer to this set features designed cut-outs that encompass the entire perimeter of the saucer. There is a similar scalloped design to the center of the saucer. Beautiful cup and saucer set in excellent condition for the age. With ornate detail. It has floral blossoms on both the cup and saucer that are raised, as in embossed style with gold accents. Its also an unusual shape, sort of and oval. According to research this dates to 1884 based on the v below the royal worchester mark. It also has a red w and the number 720 on the bottom of the cup and saucer. Im not sure what that means. I am guessing this is a pretty rare piece. Its great in a collection as a gift! royal stafford decorative cup and saucer circa 1950's
I have for auction the royal stafford cup and saucer set shown. Both pieces are in very good condition no chips cracks or crazing. The cup has a ring handle and both pieces have a slightly scalloped rim.
