A heavily and tastefully carved Louis XV Wingback Antique Arm Chair of the Rococo Revival period. This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. These arms flank a deep and very comfortable down upholstered cushion, thick and very supportive, complimenting the overall cant of the chair- by leaning just slightly backwards. This is a simply wonderful chair to rest and lounge in. The apron is an intense display of flowers along a vine, acanthus leaves sprouting from beneath the cushion to peak out over the edge. The chair rests over cabriole front legs with intense multi-dimension floral carvings along the knees, flowing into scrolled french toes. This beautiful clock works perfectly. And has a tingly, light chime every half hour and of course, on the hour. The base is 41 1/2" high. The top of the base measures 13 1/2" wide. The bottom of the base is 11 1/2" wide. The clock itself measures 23" high from bottom to the top of the finial bronze piece. The width is 12" on the bottom of the clock, and 10" wide on the top of the clock. Done in the style of mid 18th century France. This rep roduction longcase consist of a satinwood marquetry and veneered case with vernis martin type lacquer finish. A bracket clock sits above a wooden cabinet with a floral marquetry. The central keyhole shaped glass has a gilt rosette design through which one can observe the sw ing of the brass pendulum bob. Near perfect condition-only slight scratches on bottom of base. This mantle clock is in a Louis XV style bronze dore case. It has a porcelain insert depicting a man and woman in 18 th century dress. The case was made by New Haven clock Co. and it is likely the movement is French. The movement is unmarked. The clock is 14 inches high. 9 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The clock has an ornate porcelain face but it has a crack in it. The door covering the face has beveled glass. The door on the back of the clock has a paper New Haven label on the inside. The back door is loose from the case. The pendulum is present but we do not have the key. The clock is not running.

antique Louis xv cast bronze gilded style mantle clock. this is a great old piece it is very ornate it runs and keeps good time I tested it for approx 1 hr no problems. as stated above the inside of the glass could use a cleaning nut I am not skilled it apart without running the risk of breaking it.i do not see any visible cracks breaks in the bronze and there are no visible chips or cracks in the glass. it stands 11 3/4 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches across at the base it's widest point. the face is approx 3 1/2 inches across. a great old clock it would be a standout on any mantle.
