Fine and exquisite, early antique French clock depicting Cupid holding a sharpened golden arrow. It is of stunning quality, finest ormolu(finely gilded bronze or bronze doré) mounted on beautifully figured red specimen marble. Cupid is finely modelled in bronze with a lovely, rich patination. The bronze work is by Pailly of Rue Chapon. Paris. Pailly is listed in Tardy. Dictionnaire Des Horlogers. The stunning dial is designed as a swag of ribbons in ormolu. Set with 12 individual enamel cartouches. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. This type of design does not have a glazed bezel to the front. The Early French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition. It is is the earlier version of the Pendule De Paris movement with a silk suspension. It consists of a large french mantle clock and 2 side pieces. The clock was on her mantle. It has suffered some damage. The clock does not work(at least I can't get it to. It combines superb gilt bronze figures with a white marble base and a blue& white porcelain column which houses the fine small movement. This clock stands just under 14 inches high. This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Black marble clock is ornate with gilt bronze ornaments and flanked by two guardians in armour. Clock is surmounted by bronze dark patinated figurine of noble lady riding on Horse and holding a Falcon. Gilt bronze relief dial with blue Roman cartouches is protected by a glass cover. French movement is with hairspring suspension chiming on the silvered bronze bell at 1/1 and ½ hours. Movements stamped by clock maker: PONS Medaille D’Or 1827. Antique Clock Set ~ Ormolu and White Marble ~ French- Circa 1890 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A stunning classical original antique French clock set. Beautifully modelled in crisp, white marble mounted with ormolu(finely gilded brass/ bronze) The clock movement is held aloft in a gilded drum by 4 white marble pillars with floral swags between. The ormolu pendulum is visible swinging below. Between the pillars is a charming figure of Cupid, carrying his torch to light the flame of love. To the top is a pair of love birds with a flaming torch é and a quiver of arrows. Seated amongst a swag of roses. The swags and love birds are a darker colour. Contrasting nicely with the ormolu and the white marble. The candelabra are conforming in style with three lights and arms modelled as ornate foliage with mythical creatures. ... moreThe dial is enamel on copper with delicate floral swags between the numerals and finely fretted gilt brass hands. The bezel is fitted with convex glass. The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Condition of the case is excellent. The original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The marble has discoloured in places to a mellow off-white and there are some nibbles to the edges and a knocked corner to the left hand side rear of the base of the clock. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches, just some very slight fading to the lettering. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below. A. D. At the top of this 4 ¾ inch wide by 9 inch long by 30 ¾ inch tall French Marble and Bronze Mantle Clock is a miniature casting ... moreof a bird. All the marble columns. Finials and the base are in perfect condition with no restorations. The bronze fittings and the ormolu are also perfect. There is a tiny damage to the hand painted enamel face just to the right of the number“6. I didn’t notice is at first, but one of the black feet is a replacement. The rest of the enamel face and the fancy gilt hands are perfect with no restorations. Both springs are in very good, strong condition and this clock is trying to rum without the pendulum attached. When I tried to attach t pendelum I noticed that the thin spring piece of metal that holds the pendulum to the clock is out of kilter. If this little piece is adjusted properly, I guarantee this clock will keep good time once again. There are no other problems or any restorations to this late 19 th century French marble and bronze Mantle Clock. You will find it is listed without any reserve plus we guarantee 100% that the high bidder will be more than satisfied with its quality. For your consideration.I have to offer this Beautiful Antique ca. 1880 French Marble w/Columns Mantel Clock w/Key. Circa 1880. This clock is in magnificent condition for it's age of(130) plus years old.This clock appears to be in good working condition. The clock is keeping correct time for the period that I've tested it. The face of the clock shows some very minor wear with a chip. But doesn't take away from it's beauty. The Marble case is in good condition. W/ the exception of some small minor chips and a piece of marble missing on the lower left side(see pic's) Porcelain Dial.Time& Strike.Pendulum are all there(pendulum does not seem to tighten up on rod) As well as the key. Up for auction is an antique/ vintage French red marble figural clock. It depicts a peasant women with a rack and a bail of wheat by her feet. There is a basket with fruit on top of the clock. Its marked“France on the back” It also comes with 2 swan candle vases with marble bases. They are also marked“France” The clock still works and comes with the key. Its marked made in France on the front and in the back workings of the clock it says the following“No Auusted. No Jewels” and“MRE D’HORLOGERIE DE BETHUNE” underneath“made in France” with a swallow carrying a basket with“ME” inside(I think it says ME) The clock measures 5 ½ width. 14” length, 10 3/8” tall(top of women’s head) The candle holders are 4 ¾” wide, 10 3/8” tall. It’s estimated to have been made in the early 20 th century. The round dial is marble. All the Roman numerals are porcelain. Surrounded by brass. The hour and minute hands. As well as the center plate that holds them, are solid brass. The background that surrounds the dial is a di-cut brass plate with a flower pattern. The bottom of the frame is wood. The original movement is no longer there. This is my project clock. I’ve tried to find a movement. But it’s been sitting here for many years. Will let the new owner hunt for a movement. Junk Drawer Estate Find Antique French Brass Marble Ormulos Portico Mantle Clock
This is a very beautiful South Georgia Estate Find. It is French Marble and Brass and very decorative. Yet still has a classic look. I do not know if this tem works or not but, it did seem to be running on the mantle when we bought it. No one at the estate could find the key for it. It is 14" in height to the top of the birds. 9" across the widest part of the base. The clock face is 3 1/2" in diameter. I could find no maker's name or identification except E.P. 7092 on the inner rim, and on the back of the works are 7092 64.One column does seem to have a crack in it but is still tight and doesn't shift. One screw has been replaced in the back casing. Other than that, and needing a good cleaning, it seems to be in great condition. Please view all pics carefully BEFORE bidding. The face and all parts of clock are intact, NO chips, etc. It is signed on the bottom in pencil(some past owner from the 19c) with a name. It is written in the old script style of writing of that era. Maybe you are better at translating than I. It has French original works and is a great time keeper. No problems at all. My husband's friend is a clock restorer and it has been cleaned and maintained. No married ... morepieces or such. Both the works and the penduleum have same numbers, so if you are a clock expert, you can look it up with probably some resource book that is out of edition. The clock measures 12" high. 9 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" deep. The gilt seems to be all original as well and the lady is probably one of the French royalty. The French were famous for that. The white stone is onyx which I understand is a type of marble. Whatever.it is very lovely with no chips. It sits on 4 little bun feet done in stone as well. It is adourned with more gilt decorations. All intact. Shipping is $39 due to weight and extra packing. That includes insurance. Ship fees have skyrocketed. A fantastic three piece mixed marble cased clock and garniture set with spelter figural adornments. The clock case measures 17.25" long and is 13.75" high to the top of the lady's head. The spelter figures have no cracks. Breaks or repairs. There is something missing from the lady's right hand- there is a small tube that held something- perhaps a bouquet. There is a chip to the tip of the white triangular piece of marble near the base. The brass works are unmarked except for the numbers 16500 and 38. The clock winds and runs. The chime works. There is no pendulum so I don't know if it keeps time. Two footed garnitures are in excellent condition. For auction is this beautiful Antique Japy Freres French Mantle Clock. The base is White Marble Onyx. This clock depicts a classical figure. A gentleman in period dress with a mandolin. The clock itself is set in a gilt case with a white porcelain dial. The base has lovely decorations with swag chains and patterns. It is very heavy. The movement is stamped"Japy Freres& Cie Grd Med. D'Honneur" means it(the movement) was made some time after the company(Japy Freres/Japy Brothers) won the Grand Medal of Honor(which they did at the Paris exhibition in 1855) they also won a medal in 1867. It shows they were awarded a medal at the 1855 Paris Exposition. It means that Japy Freres won an award in 1855 allowing them to display the award on their movements until the time a nother award might be won at a future exposition. Such as ... morethe 1867 Paris Exposition. I cannot see any date on the stamp. The movement also has the number 5488 stamped on it. I got this at an Estate Auction. It did not come with the key but has the bell and pendulum. I started the pendulum and the clock ran for about 30 minutes. Exceptional and substantial antique circa 1900 French marble or Belgian slate mantle clock in wonderful condition. The dial is a beautiful navy blue porcelain numeral chapter ring with gold roman numerals and spade hands.The jeweled pallets on the open escapement is set in a nice engine turned dial center area. The top of the clock has four brass finials which makes for great ornamentation to supplement the gold highlighted etching on the top and bottom front. A French 19 th Century mantle clock ormolu and marble decorated with a rare combination of painting and sculpture set to contrast and enhance each other. The clock features a gilded bronze group figures depicting Hebe. The Goddess of Youth, seated on a pedestal wearing a sleeveless dress holding in right hand a pitcher, and in left hand bearing a cup to Jupiter represented as an eagle standing on garland vine leaves and grapes set round the case of white enamel clock. The marble base is embellished with two bronze-gilt busts of Athena and Minerva along with three painted images alluding to figures in Hebe’s life. Her mother Hera, her father Zeus, and her husband Hercules depicted when an infant strangling the serpent. As the cupbearer to the Gods. A French Miniature Key Wind Portico Clock made with four Bronze Columns. And top and bottom White Marble. The Clock Case measures only 6 5/8" high x 4 3/8" wide, with very minor hairline on base(can hardly be seen) The 2" Dial is signed with the Stores name that sold it, A. Stowell& Co. Boston, and has a minor chip at the winding hole. The Clock Balance wheel is good, but Clock keeps stopping, it needs a cleaning. It is a beautiful Clock, and a must have for any miniature Collector.
