The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. I hung the pendulum where I thought it should go and the clock did not run very long. Please email me if you have any specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. SIZE: The clock is 12.75 inches tall. And approximately 13.5 inches wide. It weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. The clock face is just under 3.5 inches diameter. CONDITION: There are some rubs and tarnish to the finish. I haven't tried cleaning the clock. I don't see any repairs or damage. In the photos. You can see what looks like some"separations" in the metal but it is not damage- some pieces were cast separately. Please see the close up pictures for the best description of the cosmetic condition. The front and sides have sound frets backed with red velvet. We have carefully and completely cleaned and restored the clock to a very high standard. The large and stunning dial is enamel on copper and is complete with it's original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex bezel. The bezel is marked for the retailer Charles Hour. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and thoroughly tested before presenting it for sale. Pendulum is original. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. Rare And Unusual E Gubelin Bezel Wind Enameled Ball Travel Clock
For auction I'm offering for your bidding consideration a most unusual ball shaped watch by E Gubelin. It rests in a fire gilded footed stand. I just had it serviced and cleaned. It does run strong and keeps good time. It is 2 1/2" tall in the stand x 2 1/4" across. The enameled colors are orange. White, grey, and black. You wind it counter clock wise by the bezel to wind it up. You set the hands by pushing the screw on the bottom and turning the bezel. Right under the brass bezel it looks to be copper which contrasts nicely with the rest of it. There are a couple minor concerns with the enamel that doesn't detract from this very nice clock. There is a number 26 on the bottom of the stand. I will be happy to ship internationally.

The falls in the river provided an excellent source of water power causing industry to locate here. Ansonia was named for Anson C. Phelps who caused the Ansonia Brass Co. part of the Phelps Dodge Co. to be built here. Rolled brass became commercially available in quantity in the United States sometime during the early 1830’s. After 1838 it had generally replaced cast brass and wood for making clock movements. Since clocks provided a market for brass. What could have been more natural for Phelps to do than to start a clock company in connection with the brass operations to use more of his own product. In 1851 The Ansonia Clock Company came into existence as a subsidiary company. It is probable from the clocks and data now available, that even from the very start two firm names were used. Ansonia Clock Co. was one. And Ansonia Brass& Clock Co. was the other; both marked"Ansonia. Conn. It seems they used aggressive sales promotion methods, working on the premise that the more clocks made and sold, the more brass they would use. New York USA and 5 1/2 marked in lower right corner of backside of inner workings of clock. Also has other markings probably a clock technician- which we are not, This clock is offered as is as shown. The cabinet of this clock is made of FANCY VERY HEAVY BLACK ENAMELED IRON with gold leaf line etched design– Weighs more than 20 lbs. The finish is original and in nice condition. Especially for its age! Again, this clock is not sheet metal but heavy iron, thick and heavy. Offered as is as found. This old mantle clock appears is in good condition. Worn enamel on corners and scuffs and scratches but no major damage- includes key and face plate looks like it may have been replaced with an another old original enameled ... moremetal face plate with Roman numerals. Vintage Chinese Champleve Enameled 8" Mantel/Shelf Clock- Children Side Pictures
This is a beautiful Champleve enameled clock that has been tested and works great(including the second hand) Operated by one(1) C" 1.5 v battery. It measures 8" tall x 5" wide X 4" deep. And it weighs 4 lbs. 4 oz. The plaque on back says"made in the People's Republic of China- Tianjin- No. 021" The exterior champleve enamel is in excellent condition; the solid brass shows typical discoloration, but not bad considering age. The front glass is beveled and is excellent- no cracks or scratches. The interior floor shows heavier spotting and discoloration; but again, nothing that effects the solid construction of this amazing clock. Check the photos for specifics. This is an interesting pair of 19th century clock side garnitures( or vases) They are solid slate with enameled painted scenes of a Victorian lady and gentleman in period dress. Each of the pair is in original found condition with no known repairs. Missing parts or other damage. The slate and paint is in very good original condition. The wear is consistent and appropriate for the age and use. Each has the original four brass finials on the corners of the top of each. The slate has the original fiinsh on each. The gold gilt incising on both is in very good original condition with if not all a very high percentage of the paint still existing.
