Up for sale is a Vintage Soviet Russian Navy Submarine Clock Komandirskie CCCP USSR. This is a used clock from the Soviet Union era. This is an 8 day ... moreclock in very good condition. I have wound it up and it lasts 8 days until rewinding is necessary. This is 6" clock and weighs 6 Lbs. There is a small lever at the top of the clock that accesable by opening the lid with the key and I set it all way to the the right for a few days and the clock ran a few minutes faster after about fours of observing off and on. And then I reset it to the middle location and clock was running within seconds of the actual time. i do not know why this is there but it is probably some sort military setting for timing torpedoes or navigational applications. The black base that is mounted at the bottom is probably not the original way this clock was mounted, I mention this because my wife is from Ukraine and her father served in the Russian army during the Soviet Union era and he asked me to remove the base and there is three location hanging mounts on the back side and two of them are broken and suggested that some one had pulled it away from it's anchored location on the Submarine during the break up of the Soviet Union so he concluded it is a make shift base because it is made of plastic and the Russians did not use much of any plastic materials on Military equipment back then. This would be great addition for military collector and even a vintage clock collector. This item sells as is with no returns. Please view all photos carefully as they are part of this items description. Shipping to the lower 48 states only. Thank you for your interest. The French 8 Day platform escapement is signed J. E. DUPONT PARIS. Two hammers striking on a gong. One for the time and one for the alarm. The movement has not been tested or taken apart. Clock runs for 30 seconds than stops, probably just needs a cleaning. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines to the dial. The case is in great condition with no damage or repairs. Excellent detail to include the 4 fluted 3/4 columns. Four glass beveled sides surround the case. One of the side glass sides has some chips, but this piece could be replaced for cheap money. Original key included Ferdinand Barbedienne(10 January 1810– 21 March 1892) was a French and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder. The F. Barbedienne foundry was started in Paris in 1838 by Ferdinand Barbedienne and Achille Collas. Who was the inventor of a machine that would mechanically reduce statues. They at first produced bronze reductions of antique sculptures of Greek and Roman origin. Their first contract to produce bronzes modeled by a living artist was made in 1843 when they arranged to produce the works of Francois Rude. They barely survived the revolution and financial collapse of 1848 which caused many artists and foundries to declare bankruptcy. Barbedienne actively pursued contracts with the many sculptors of Paris contracting with David D'Angers, Jean-Baptiste Clesinger, and even producing some casts for Antoine Louis Barye as well as others. Achille Collas died in 1859 leaving Ferdinand Barbedienne as the sole owner of the foundry which by that time had grown to employ over 300 workers at their workshop located at 63 Rue de Lancry in Paris. Ferdinand Barbedienne was made the President of the Reunion of Bronze Makers in 1865 a post he held until 1885. The outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870 and the shortage of raw metals caused him to have to stop m

Massachusetts in 1824, and was soon followed by his brothers, Alanson and Abraham O. Bigelow. In 1830 they were known as Bigelow Brothers. Martin Perry Kennard of Brookline MA joined the firm between 1845-1847 and the company became Bigelow Brothers& Kennard until 1863. From 1863 to 1972 it was Bigelow Kennard& Co. The firm ceased operation in 1972. The company was one of the leading Boston Merchants of 19th century and early 20th century, selling high-quality domestic and imported silver, glass, and clocks. They had several products private-labeled for them from various manufacturers during the years in business. THE LISTED CLOCK: This ... moremarble mantle clock is a good size measuring 11 1/2" in height. 11" wide, and 6 1/4" deep. It is heavy at 24 pounds due in part to the marble being laid a concrete base inner structure. See photograph# 9} It has bronze entablature, columns, and mount with a porcelain dial. CONDITION: It is unknown whether the clock works or not. There is no key present. It is suspected therefore. That it may be a restoration piece for the clock collector or expert. The access door on the back for the mechanism is detached, but included. Please see photographs# 5, 6, 7, 8} We believe this might be remedied by the buyer with some kind of glue or epoxy. The marble itself has a chipped left corner measuring about 3/8" on the roof top. Please see the last photograph} The clock porcelain dial and mechanism fits loosely and can be removed from the clock front. There is an unattached pendulum inside the bottom of the clock casing.
