The chime is one strike on the half hour and a strike for each hour on the hours. My brothers and I gave this clock to our parents in 1973. We purachsed it at the Clocksmith in San Carlos. CA. It had been repaired and restored by the Clocksmith, but I do not know the extent of the restoration. It was still running before I moved it to my home a few years ago, but did not run when I got it home. Antique French Oval Crystal Regulator Clock Brass Curved Beveled Glass Mantle
Here is a beautiful antique French Oval Crystal Regulator Clock. I am not a clock collector or a clock expert- I purchased this clock at an estate sale. I will try to provide all the details. But please ask if you have any additional questions. The clock appears to be solid brass, and is very heavy. It is marked on the top side of the bottom base'Duverdrey& Bloquel France. I do not see maker information on the movement but do see some numbers stamped on the movement. There are 4 glass panels- all are curved and beveled, quite unusual. The clock measures about 10 1/2" high, 7 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" deep. The porcelain dial is beautifully decorated and marked Baily, Banks& Biddle Philadelphia and France below the number 6. Roman numerals for the hours. Comes with pendulum and key. I do not know if this is the original ... morekey but it came with the clock. Pendulum seems to contain mercury but I am uncertain as to how these pendulums should look. I have hung/swung the pendulum and the clock runs for a bit, changes time, and then the pendulum stops. I have not attempted to wind this clock in any way. I have moved the minute hand and the clock chimes on the half hour and the hour. I will assume that some adjustments are needed, perhaps repairs also. The case is really in nice shape- a few spots here and there, but nothing significant. Very interesting is the writing on the bottom of the clock. I am not sure what most of it means, but there does appear to be a date of 11/7/85- I am assuming that could mean 1885, unless this could possibly represent a service date. There is a very minor hairline on the face- I cannot even feel a crack when I touch it, but I can see it. And, there is a tiny chip in the glass on the back panel right at the top. Eight-day movement has a very sonorous gong chime at the half and full hour. Heavy walnut or mahogany case with 6 heavy beveled panes of glass on the door. No chips. Cracks or scratches in the glass. Has a double locking latch. The case does a a couple of wood cracks around the face and one knick on the latch side of the door. The New Haven Clock Company was the first to mass-produce brass clock movements in America. 1890 French Bell Clock Movement Pristine Bronze Beveled Glass Marti Japy Freres
Another clock from my dad's collection. This auction is for the MOVEMENT ONLY as the belgium slate case weighs 60+ lbs. Movement includes heavy bronze metal mint dial and thick beveled glass hinged door. Bell, pendulum, side mounts and case back with original hinged mounting ring and screws. Movement looks pristine and complete to me! Both back and front hinges are in great condition, doors close and latch firmly. Fits 4 1/4" opening. A Brocot escapement is present. Pendulum size at bottom of plate: 4 pounce 11 ligne. I calculate that as 5.24" and will include a pendulum that measures 5 1/4" in it's shortest position- serial no. does not match. There is no key. There is a mark with a star and the letters SF& JD, serial no. 13022. On the side of the bezel frame the#2 plus the same serial no. stamped. Antique, vintage crystal regulator clock, beveled glass, very nice.
Fresh out of an estate. I'll be listing several more old clocks. See my other listings. Offered here is what I think is called a Crystal Regulator clock. It stands 101/2" tall, 1/2" wide, and 5" deep. The case looks like it might have had a brass finish at one time. Now, it looks kind of brown and somewhat mottled. The glass is all nicely beveled. The clock itself has a 2 piece, what I think is Porcelain, face with roman numerals. There is a Trade mark, an A in a square, see pics. There is also a name on the lower edge of the face, but it's covered by the brass rim of the clock. I can make out what looks like"Manufactured by the AC? clock company, New York, United States of America" I'm sure that, and the A trademark will tell you clock people who made this. I don't have the proper key. The clock mechanism ... moredoes seem to work. If I swing the pendulum, it runs for several minutes, and as I'm writing this, it just struck.
